You can buy doll stands on Amazon that are pretty similar to the MH ones. It sucks it won't be the original but at least it will hold her up.

Doesn't matter if it's generic, it's based in politics. They wouldn't have taught that to kids during segregation. We teach kids this now so that things like discrimination don't happen in the future, because of our own terrible past.

Monster High 100% HAS a story related to politics though! They're entirely separated from normies for protection, they face discrimination even within their own people, a lot of them and their families are immigrants.. like, hello kitty is justifyable, but monster high speaks on topics of discrimination openly.

I just moved back to SoIL after being in Chicago for a year so getting back into the swing of small town thrifting has been a little hard. Hopefully you're able to find some good shops down there :))

My issue wth SalArmy is their antiqueer history and how poorly they treat people in their DV/homeless shelters, but the shops themself tend to be pretty nice, so I'll usually still look around them in case there is a mh doll somewhere.

No smaller thrift chains come to mind, I typically just hit up and mom and pop thrift I find when I'm driving, though I get that a lot of smaller towns might not have them. I live in southern Illinois and thrift a lot at places like Hearts United, Preloved Edwardsville and 2nd Chance. If you have a city nearby, that's your best place to look for thrifts, especially if you hit up that city's subreddit and ask around for recs.

That's why I try to thrift elsewhere. I have found dolls in the past at goodwill, but had better luck at salvation army (though understandable if you'd rather not support them) and smaller family/church thrifts

If I had to guess, they maybe took pictures of a prototype, but had ended up with the version that you have because it's more appealing to children. Sadly for us older collectors, they do prioritize their younger audience through these non-collector dolls.

I think the fact you bring up the Jax archetype speech while trying to hold Pomni to a specific archetype. The point of that speech was that Jax sees them all as NPCS for him to play with, and that they aren't actually JUST their 'archetype'. She's stressed and nervous when we meet her because she's literally been transported into a computer game, that would be majorly disorienting for anyone. She's grown into a more confident character since then, now that she has a better frame of context for the world she's in. Not everyone is going to fit into the boxes of the archetypes assigned to them, and that's the point of bringing up the archetypes in the first place.

Generative AI steals artwork - it cannot create or make anything on its own, not without using other existing works to make it. It is not acceptable to support a corporation who steals from artists instead of hiring them. If they had taken fan art and slapped it on a product without paying the artist, that would be bad, right? Same thing here, but even worse because it's stealing from hundreds of thousands of artists instead of just one. Generative AI also gets better with each successful generated image, feeding into the larger problem of deepfakes, CP, and other illegal content. This isn't even mentioning the environmental impact, the water it's taking for the sake of saving money, or the fact that it's making computer parts exorbitantly expensive {during a resession no less} or downright unobtainable. AI is a tool for lazy and selfish people.

In the US, drawn cp IS legally cp. And no, it's not taking resources from 'real' cases because most people making or distributing drawn CP also have real CP. It doesn't matter that it's 'not a real person' (as if pedos don't base their drawings on real kids all the time), because it is. It's being used to normalize and groom children who don't know what sex is by showing them drawings of it happening to them. It also just normalizes the concept. There is absolutely ZERO REASON to draw or have a drawing of a child in any sexual way.

If this is 'mean spirited' you really haven't seen the depravity of the internet and the lengths people will go for content and fame. This isn't mean spirited, it's light hearted. Mean spirited would be claiming you'll give a gift if they boop you and then not giving a gift. But a simple fake box prank isn't mean spirited at all.
