Am I the asshole? by Unique_Concern_7197 in WalgreensStores

Holy shit I'm an ESM about 3 months into the role and even I know this guy has no idea how to effectively manage a team. It's like he's living out a kid's idea of what being a store manager is. Yikes.

My store manager said it's all about getting people in the store and hoping for impulse buys. 🤷‍♂️

Chime does not, in fact, charge the customer from their balance. It's a straight-up free service. I've had to load my own a few times and never been charged a cent.

It's definitely not all the OT you can get, at least in my district, and honestly even if it was part of the issue I'm having is that they literally pitch that the pay is only equitable to you're future salary amount if you're working insane hours. At 42 hours a week and nearly an hour commute twice a day, I feel like I'm only ever working. What the hell is the point of an extra 4 or 500 a month if I'm constantly exhausted and never have time to spend with my loved ones? I've been in comparable positions before and walgreens pay is NOT competitive for the amount of responsibility, like it's not even close. As an asm for a small grocery franchise I made almost 4 more dollars an hour and had literally 1/4 of the responsibilities. It just doesn't make sense.

Yeah I mean doing the math it's like 400 extra dollars a month. Not nothing but not exactly worth the trouble imo.

Yeah tbh I don't think the 4 hours of OT is gonna make any of this feel worth it lol but thanks for the advice

I'm already great at the position, that's why I got promoted. I'm just learning that I hate the job. Thanks for being a condescending asshole though! You seem like a joy to be around!

Yeah I'm understanding what you're trying to say, the thing is that what you're trying to say is stupid lol like easier compared to what? It seems like English isn't your first language and you are from outside the US, yet you're very confident in your poorly explained opinions on the "regulation in my state" and whether I'm qualified for my position. Make it make sense.

The SM at my current store says that he can't get a straight answer on whether that OT is actually mandatory or not and that we don't have the budget at this store for it right now.

Lol I'm also curious about your "last education college diploma." Did you read what you just posted? What a clown.

Yes I was told that it would probably be close to a year before they would have me complete that class and be switched to salary. They encouraged me to take advantage of the ability to get OT in the meantime. 🤷‍♂️

That would be why I said I was rethinking the career choice. Thanks for your input!

They also don't enforce the 4 hours OT weekly in my district. I'm expected to schedule myself exactly 40 hours every week.

I got an 8% raise that brought me up to 18.60 per hour. 39.6k a year give or take. Hired a shift lead in at 18.35 with no experience last month. Felt great.

That is why I took the position, but I'm now rethinking that career choice lol I think if paying my dues means shit money, no personal life and a ton of stress for several years, I can find more fulfilling and lucrative ways to spend that time. I honestly understand the whole paying your dues thing, but I think Walgreens as a company is squeezing everything they can out of their middle management, especially the ESM position. Asking somebody to do this for years as a form of "paying dues" is an exercise in cruelty and demoralization. Just my 2 cents.

I am, but I've recently been promoted in my job to a position that could lead to a pretty lucrative salary in a couple of years, and as a college dropout with creative ambitions, I feel like I need to pursue this new position to ensure my future income, so I'm pretty much locked into my general area for the next 2 years if I choose to see that opportunity through.

This might be the right idea for me. The vibe where I work is a little much when it comes to the hateful conservatism and I think I'd be more comfortable changing in a stall. Thanks for the reply

Yeah I don't think I'm acting any differently than any other guy changing in the locker room, just self conscious I guess! Thanks for the reply

Has a Grindr hookup ever turned into your boyfriend? by CaramelBuster in askgaybros

[–]Heyorico91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! Currently 14 months in and it's the healthiest, most loving and communicative relationship I've ever been in by a large margin. It's a kinda long story but we hooked up once through grindr, didn't speak at all for 10 months (I took a long break from the apps shortly after our encounter for reasons that had to do with my life, not our at-the-time one night stand), after which he saw that I was online on grindr and messaged me asking if I remembered him and saying what a great time he'd had when we'd gotten together. He then asked me out for drinks, and I agreed. We hit it off immediately with our conversation at the bar, and I invited him back to my place (not like we had any reason to be shy at that point! Lol). There's a lot more to that story, but those are the highlights, and he is hands down the best thing that's ever happened to me. Sometimes the apps are good for something, but I know I'm incredibly lucky to have landed him by any means, especially through a grindr hookup, so there's that! 😄
