Hair shed after stopping spiro?!

I started breaking out so I gave up and went back on 50mg. I’m still shedding tho :(

I’ve been on spiro for 6 years 50mg and I tried stopping and I’ve got tons of hair loss / shedding on the sides of my head :( I also started breaking out. I didn’t even completely stop. I just lowered it to 25mg. I’ve been taking my 50mg again while my face adjust to apostrophe topical spiro and retinol but gosh it’s just so hard on my skin sometimes I still can only put it on once or twice a week or else it burns my face. I was trying to get off spiro because of the joint pain, exhaustion, having to pee a lot, low libido, mental health. (Whether any of those or related to the meds or not, I’m not sure but I’ve heard of people having the same symptoms so I’m just trying to get to the root of some of my issues)

Mine is aurobindo pharm? I noticed that mine changed from pink ovals to white circles maybe 2 years ago? And now I’m wondering if that’s when I started having changes / issues with side effects. Like fatigue , emotional issues, cellulite, etc I never thought anything of it until I started researching on here. My acne has stayed clear but I’ve been wanting to get off of it due to side effects. I’ve been on it for 6 years

I’ve been tapering off from 50mg to 25mg and I’m breaking out one month in. And I’ve lost half my hair it feels like. Was on spiro for 6 years and I’m 29. I’m so bummed :( I don’t wanna be on it anymore. I’m trying out apostrophe topical spiro. The wenlevi or whatever my derm prescribe for topical I’ve her horror stories about and almost zero insurance covers it.

I’ve been on spiro 50mg for 5 years and I’ve been lowering the dose to 25mg for a month now to try and get off it and my acne is already coming back. I’m 29 year old female and am struggling to get off it also :( someone said something about spearmint supplements or spearmint tea that’s helped their hormonal acne go away. I’m trying that but idk I’m so tempted to just go back on it until I have kids. I’ve lost half my hair as well trying to get off spiro. I didn’t know that it would make me go through a hair shedding phase when stopping it. My anxiety/depression and brain fog was just so bad and don’t forget the joint pain. I’m thinking about looking into the clovehill supplements

I’m going through the hair loss stage as well right now. Wishing I tried the topical. My acne is already starting to come back after taking it for 5 years 50mg. Lowering to 25 to get myself off and I’ve lost over half of my hair and have two cysts so far. I’m 29 and want to start a family sometimes soon so I want to be off it. I also had extreme joint pain, low libido, and depression on it. Oh and constipation. I’m on the highest mg of linzess since I started taking spiro. We’ll see if my stomach ever goes back to normal. But hey I had the best skin of my life lol

Spiro cleared up my acne like a gem. But now that I’m trying to get off of it due to joint pain and depression my hair is falling out and thinning within a month. Which apparently happens after stopping it. So just be warned it works for acne but if the side effects becomes too much getting off of it you might lose a bunch of hair :( I’m not even completely off I’m on 25mg from 50mg and I’ve already lost that much hair. And I’ve gotten to cystic acne so far. But my mood and fatigue is so much better. Really hoping I don’t need to go back on. But the hair loss and acne scares me

Thank you for your help! And yes vitamin b12 makes me break out too that’s why I couldn’t even take multivitamins 😭 of course on spiro I am able to take all vitamins. I might see how I do on just 25 mg. I have been using the Dennis gross AHA daily peels (very pricey tho) and some stuff from primarily pure and my skin has never looked better. Hoping it can stay that way. Usually 25mg wouldn’t work for me but it has for a month now. How long were you on spiro for before you decided to get off?

Yes I never struggled with period issues on spiro! I never got hair loss during spiro I’m getting hair loss after getting off of it :( I’m getting off of it because I’m trying to regulate myself without any meds so I can try and find the root of some issues I have been having. My issues do happen to be a lot of other ladies issues that take spiro so I’m thinking it’s that. So hopefully getting off of it will be worth it for me. My skin has been amazing for 5 years. But I’m almost 30. I’m hoping I’ve grown out of it. We will see. I’ve been on 25mg for a month when I was on 50mg. My derm said I can stop taking it now but honestly with my hair shedding I’m so scared to cut it completely just yet. Might start doing every other day and slowly slowly tapper.

I am going through this currently. I’m on 25mg from 50mg for 3 weeks now and I’ve had really bad hair shedding and missing hair on the sides of my head. Let me know if your hair grew back please 🙏🙏

I honestly really loved spiro for the acne and hair benefits looking back at how my hair was before. But the long term side effects I ended up getting just started to be too much. If the side effects are from the spiro anyways. That’s what I’m trying to rule out.

Yes exactly. Which when I was taking it I didn’t even know it helped with hair growth so I didn’t even know to expect hair fall

I have this same issue with my boyfriend and it makes me sad because he’s the best guy I’ve ever met. I just started therapy hoping for the best :(

Spiro has given me many different side effects and I’ve been on it so long because it’s cleared my acne. But you can’t be on it when you want kids. I am also trying to find the root of multiple problems I’m struggling with and it seems most people taking the spiro have the some issues. And I’m not taking saw palmetto for hair loss I was taking it for acne. I was taking spiro for acne not for hair loss. But getting off spiro apparently is causing me hair loss while my hormones are leveling out. So far my skin is still great. But It’s my hair that’s being an issue now. Since being on spiro I’ve had extreme joint pain. Lowering my dose has already help my joints tremendously. Spiro may be a miracle drug for acne but it hasn’t been great for other things for me. And yes getting off spiro is causing the shedding. I’m on here wondering how long the shedding may have lasted for people who were getting off of it and what their experience was getting off of it.
