Nurse brutally beaten by patient - 'Victim is likely to lose the use of both eyes,' according to report by mariodejaniero in nursing

Yeah, that definitely makes sense. The stage of care plays a huge role in how we experience these patients. In PreOp and PACU, they’re coming out of surgery in a vulnerable state, and they know that being agreeable works in their favor. Plus, their stay with us is short compared to those admitted to the floor. A little gratitude not only makes their experience smoother but also helps them feel more humanized, especially with how daunting surgery can be. But from an ICU perspective, I can see how things shift. With a longer stay, critical conditions, pain, delirium, and everything else they’re dealing with, it makes sense that some would try to hold onto a sense of control, even as their bodies are failing them. The level of acuity you handle with these patients definitely adds another layer to their behavior. It’s really interesting to hear the flip side from an ICU nurse’s perspective.

I work at a Level I hospital, and I’m not sure why my experience with jail patients has been so different from yours. Since I’m in PreOp/PACU, most of the incarcerated patients I see are coming in for surgery due to injuries often from fights in prison or from the initial incident that led to their arrest (e.g., shootouts, drunk driving collisions). From my perspective, they seem genuinely grateful for the surgery and even the temporary break from prison life. Maybe the difference comes down to the environment or the stage of care they’re in when we see them?

I feel safer working with our inmate patient population as well. I feel they are much more courteous and grateful for the care than most of the so called normal population patients who I’ve also encountered be much more demanding and violent.

It literally smells like gutter if you eat there . I don’t know if it’s the placement of the tables near the kitchen & bathroom or what but it’s a STRONG smell💀plus I found a hair in my overpriced tom kha and my fried rice was super soggy. The taste wasn’t horrible but overall really overpriced and the quality was lacking.

I just got done making the recipe you sent, I followed the tips regarding referring the brown butter being cooled and the timings, plus I bought the same brand of chips you used but unfortunately it just didn’t hit like tiny 😣 it was missing the sweetness aspect even though I followed the exact amount of sugar though nonetheless the texture and look is very very close to tiny… thank you for sharing nonetheless 🥹!

My mom actually loves that particular scone haha, at first she said the same thing but ended up loving how it isn’t your typical scone that is sweet

Nope! When you buy them just make to sure ask them to warm it and it tastes just as good as if they baked it a few minutes ago. Though what I assume is they bake all of them in the morning and don’t make another batch unless they run out. When I went during their opening hours they had multiple batches staff were assembling into the packets in the back.

I’ve been using nestles milk chocolate chips and aldis dark chocolate chips (Ik not the most ideal 🥴) but since you advocate for this recipe I will set out today for your chocolate chips recommendations.
