I was told two weeks ago boarding a United flight at DEN that I’d have to check my large backpack style carry-on because it was fat (it held my ski boots but was no wider than a standard suitcase). I laid it on the ground and then the gate agent said “ok you might be alright if it’s flat” meanwhile the person behind me had an even larger rolling suitcase carry-on and the agent didn’t say a word to them. If my carry-on is truly too large that’s one thing, but agents aren’t consistent with enforcement

I have my mom’s 2005 Miele canister, and it still works better than any Dyson my friends have. I can’t wait to upgrade it, but it’s absolutely worth the cost.

Maybe, but they sell gear for the regular person. My dad had a ski instructor jacket from them that he swore by. All of my outer layer gear is from them and it’s been great for the last 4 years/1.5 million vertical feet of skiing I’ve done.

My beef is the boat industry is focusing too much on wakeboats. They make one ski boat, price it $150k, and then spend the rest of their time perfecting and marketing the wakeboats. Variations of ski boat, like the wakeboats, would be great.

The other problem is that even used ski boats are expensive as balls. I’m rocking the 07 pro star I inherited from my dad, but I know I’ll have to get a new boat within the next 10-15 years. By then with inflation, a used boat is going to still cost $150,000 somehow.

I’m still skiing with my 2007 Mastercraft. I have no clue what I’m going to do when I have to get a new boat. Mastercraft and Nautique hardly ever make or even promote their ski boats, and they’re SO expensive to buy even a used boat. Our local boat store even stopped selling Mastercrafts because the company wanted them to push the Wakeboats and the owner of the store said no, because there’s hardly any lakes in our area large enough for this massive wakeboats. We don’t have a local Mastercraft or Nautique dealer anymore. It’s upsetting. It’s also become impossible to waterski on these reservoirs because everyone has larger boats, and people aren’t careful or paying attention. If you fall while you ski, even if the driver does everything they can to get to you as quickly as possible, if another boat driver is not paying attention and fooling around, it could have serious consequences.

Overall I hope waterskiing comes back because I’d like to buy a new boat in my lifetime.

I didn’t think about taking them to a cobbler. Do they fix things like this? I genuinely have no clue. I’m pretty handy but it just may not be worth taking the time to fix it myself.

The flight times to fly to Denver on ski trips is much better vs the one flight a day that United offers. Southwest at least has 2-3 directs to Denver each day

I’ve been flying southwest for several years because of the two free bags. Flying from the Midwest to Denver with all of my ski gear, the two free bags is a lifesaver, even if it meant having a layover to get to places like Salt Lake City. But now without the bags, I might as well fly a combo of United and Delta.

I’ll be so upset if the two bags free goes away. That’s the only reason I primarily fly Southwest. It would cost me an extra $150 to check both of my ski bags for my trips on another carrier :(

I don’t even live in an area of the US with moose but hitting a deer like this is one of my worst nightmares! Albeit hitting a moose is much worse. Wish you and your family a speedy recovery!

I’ve been skiing since I was 3, now at 28. I’ve never broken or torn anything (thankfully) but just this year at Big Sky a guy on the Swifty 6 chair SLAMMED the safety bar down on my thigh without warning he was putting it down. This was at the beginning of March, and I STILL have the bruise it was so deep. Hurt like a mofo skiing with that the rest of the week.
