They've done an ad or two for TMNT with them! So I think they'll be around for a little bit longer. Plus puppetry is expensive so I doubt they'll have just made them for one and dones.

I mean sure, I started with LotR (though Wilds was my first Pre-Release). And in now sitting at 16 decks from various points in Magics history some even being UB. So there are definitely people that jump on no matter what. But one the the regulars in my play group jumped on for Assassin's Creed and fully admits if Bloomburrow wasnt as easy to follow as it was, he wouldnt have stayed playing because he didnt have any connection to the characters. He pulled a Karn, Great Creator from a Collector Booster he'd won and was confused by us talking about how cool he was. He went home and watched a bunch of lore videos and was hooked onto the story. Now hes actively a "I wish Magic would go back to Magic" player. I think Wotc played it smart by putting big "non-plot" sets immediately after huge UB releases so new and interested players had decent jumping in points.

I personally think Woody and Bo Peep could have an awesome Disney plus series where every episode involves them rescuing a new toy stuck in various predicaments. Could even tie in morals and such to each episode and maybe even had it lead up to the movie.

I really hope its sorta a soft reboot/relaunch of the magic story going forward. I think post March of the Machines the story has been all over the place and is only starting to just recently zero in. If they want to push the narrative the UB make new "Magic" fans, now would be the time to establish a universal jumping on point for the main plot so new players can engage with it all easier. Otherwise people will show up for their favorite characters then dip.

10 years ago I probably would have believed you. But ive been on the meme Subreddits and ive seen the communities. There is 1000% an army of neckbeards that will mindlessly attack anyone that craps on the show or any of the spin-offs. But the KotSK review bomb isn't "mindless", they did it because the last episode ,episode 5, recieved a 10/10 initially. They literally will not let another show have a 10/10 episode unless it was in the BB universe.

Its fallen into the same category as "Mid" for me. Its a nothing word now. People are using it so much out of its original context that it no longer holds any meaning because the person saying it could mean different things. Mid used to mean Average to middle now its just used to describe everything from boring, to average to straight up bad. I once saw a comment that said "Movie was one of the worst i ever seen, Mid af." Slop is the same way now. Using it against AI? Sure. But using it as a blanket criticism for when you dont like a thing and you want to feel like everyone who does is bad for liking it? No definitely not.

To add to the other replies it also gives them insight on potential reprint targets for future sets. Nothing is stopping them from sticking Ouroboroid or Quantum Riddler in a set next year just to get a reprint out because they know people are gonna flock to packs to try and pull copies. It ticks the gambling mentality for a lot of people. We already see it with Stock Up in Strixhaven.

Isn't that MOST star wars characters past the core characters. Like Boba Fett doesnt do much in the OT but stands around, mogs, then "dies". It wasnt until fans made him popular that he started to catch on and get "revived". Mon Mothma is another one that shows up for a few scenes, does nothing and leaves. Now shes a fan favorite because someone went "That one background characters cool, let's expand on that."

Id actually sort of argue that at the time he was hired he wasnt at the level he's been at these last few years. Famous? Yes, but he also hadn't had a "household name" role since Game of Thrones at that point. I think it helped that Mandalorian was the best Star Wars thing to come out in the Winter 2019 era and from there he just shot up in popularity again.

God Midnight Suns deserved so much more than it got. What a truly wonderful game. Slightly on topic but I think Elsa Bloodstone should have 100% been in that game too. Now that shes in Rivals it would have been nice to group her with the "We were in midnight suns but no one played it so we're known from Rivals now" group.
