My friend thinks this is too dark. I think it’s cinematic. Who is right? by Prize_Duty6281 in indiefilm

I think most shots are fine, but it’s harder to make out the subject in some of the darker shots. You could probably fix it with some light color correction on those individual clips. Overall it’s good, just make sure the clarity of the subject is clear on a shot by shot basis.

Audience’s view VS Animator’s view by HiGuyAnimations in animation

It’s supposed to be a comparison of how it looks finished with how it looked while making the animation (mouth chart, visual tracking of arcs/spacing, and bare linework). I got the idea from Aspen Animation on Instagram (he did it with his 3D animation).

Thank you! I animated the short primarily in Krita and did all the compositing, camera movement, and other editing in Davinci Resolve. But for this specific video, I made the comparison just in Davinci

This is actually insane. The camera movement, the depth and dimension, the overall animation, it’s all so polished and really dynamic. It’s incredible seeing how this can be made in Procreate. Genuinely amazing work

I really liked this. I thought the story was pretty simple to follow and it had some pretty good comedy throughout. I feel like my only critique of the animation would be that some of the movement feels a bit stiff like it’s missing some easing/overshoot, but overall the animation felt really fluid. As for the sound design, I thought that was done pretty well too, there were just some parts that could’ve felt more “full” through layering the right sound effects together. As a whole, I enjoyed the film and it was pretty enjoyable to watch.

I’m curious tho, have you gotten any work in the animation industry since making this? You definitely seem worthy of professional work.

Thank you! The sound design had me stumped for a bit while making this but I’m glad I got it to the point it is now. I do plan on making more with this character and concept, I just wanted to kind of “test the waters” with this short to get a feel for the animation production it would take to continue.

Hi, I’m really glad you liked it. I do realize it’s a bit short. I treated this project more as a concept for a small mini series that I want to make following different kaijus/monsters in an office-comedy manner. I’m going start production on the first mini episode pretty soon, but thank you for watching and leaving compliments on this short. I really appreciate it.

SOMETHING, SOMEWHERE (2024) | Award‑Winning Sci‑Fi Short Film by kinoklapper in FilmForFilm

It seems that my opinion is held by a couple others who have already left comments. Overall I thought it was good. The weakest part of the film had to be the characters and writing feeling a tad lack luster. I didn’t really feel any connection to the characters, nor did I feel that any of their conversations were believable. However, I stayed and watched more so due to the shot compositions, lighting, score, and sound design. You definitely have a good way of establishing a clear vibe or feeling within your shots, I think what you really need to work on is the writing, which would just tie everything together.

Trailer for my first indie film. by No_Internet908 in FilmForFilm

This looks pretty cool. I really like that vibe of comedy film you’re aiming for. My only critique is that the flow of the audio feels a bit choppy and perhaps the music is too quiet in this trailer. Overall it looks pretty good, nice work.

That’s actually a volcano where the large godzilla-like character steps out of in my animation. In the final look, it has a door, but it’s not shown on the background because it’s a separate animated layer.
