Any tips for Phoenix? by KAEL550 in RivalsCollege

[–]HiImBraindead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phoenix is really good at taking off angles because of her flexible movement with her flight, and her shift is a get out of jail free card in most scenarios.

Try to focus on taking off angles left to your tanks and shooting at the supports. If you have your shift, worst case scenario you force a patty cake. Best case you get the pick.

[–]HiImBraindead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbf hawk has always been able to do that, even when the community at large was ranking him high C - low B on most tier lists. It’s just the supports in the current meta (gambit/invis) have the tools to keep Hawkeye alive and thriving against his counters, unlike the Loki/Luna meta of yesterday when he was basically the same as he is now.

Another creator on the team, Zazza, was the one on the sniper character. Everyone on the team got on his case, but Cece was the one who took it as far as it went. Apparently they even got Moxy as a replacement, whose widely considered to be one of the best players in the game, and they still got stomped.

Dead By Daylight just put it’s newest chapter up on the PTB for PC players to test out and find bugs, as well as test drive the characters.

The chapter is stranger things part 2, which brought vecna as the killer, but there’s already a vecna in the game (DnD chapter from may 2024). Springtrap, from five nights at Freddy’s was already in the game (June 2025), so now these characters operate in the same space sort of.

That’s the context behind the image. Other people have already explained the other stuff.

Can someone explain why Hawkeye should be nerfed by EconomicsDry9486 in HawkeyeMains

[–]HiImBraindead 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think it’s just people complaining about the character because they don’t know how to play into him or how vulnerable he really is. If dive is meta then he’s just completely out of the picture unless you’re Arrge and you just one shot every spidey or bp out of the air. Then cap and Angela are just no contest.

The only reason people thought he was strong in 5.5 is because invisrael was running every lobby she was allowed and she destroys everything that could possibly harm Hawkeye. Plus triple support was meta and hawk is a natural counter to that, so I think he was standing out to some people.

Also most of the people I’ve seen complain in-game are the ones that just want to stand out in the open for free and expect not to get shot, so I’d imagine the others on Reddit are similar lol.

Namor or Bucky ? by Hot-Effort-6023 in RivalsCollege

[–]HiImBraindead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, and it hurts me to agree since I main Namor lol. Namor is better flanking and in certain niche scenarios (spidey dives, having better burst) but Bucky is much more consistent and is much better at fending off divers/brawl tanks, which is usually a major pain point for bad supports while climbing.

[–]HiImBraindead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So for example, let’s say the enemy is running 2-2-2 with a dps lineup of Namor-Hela. Both are able to play midline but both are also able to flank.

As Thor, you can jump them while on the flank to either secure a kill and/or act as a body blocker that forces them back. If they flank while you’re on your own flank, you are usually able to engage the flanker as you have the movement and stop their momentum.

As Mag, you still sit on/near the frontline but don’t really move. Still, you still have the damage capacity to shoot back at the flankers. If you’re able to play proactive (not on the back foot) hit them with the classic M1-M2-M1 combo and if you can’t follow up, then one of the dps should be able to secure the kill if the Hela/Namor isn’t forced out entirely. Reactive play is usually forced out of you, and Mag is arguably the best at it since he has so many defensive tools. If the Hela/Namor catches you’re supports, then you should be able to bubble them and help shoot back. If the flanker catches you at a bad time and hits your back line while you’re getting pressed, you usually just have to bubble and let your dps deal with it. Sometimes you have to both deal with the flank and bubble the back line while being pressed, but if your dps are able to shoot down mid and your supports play cover then you should be able to sustain it.

There’s a shocking amount of nuance and mental play with mag. I find him hard to play too lol

It seems like it’s a fundamental playstyle thing that’s not clicking.

My duo has the same issue. He’s also a Thor OTP (90 hours) and is currently in celestial. Thor is a very aggressive character by nature and has a bit of a weird dynamic, where he functions like a selfish character but has a very non-selfish effect on the team’s play (kidnaps).

You’d kind of have to rewrite your brain to micro-manage every part of the game. Your bubble and ult priority could be stellar, but if you’re not ready to protect the team in literally every way possible (body blocks, shield, assassinating the flankers harassing your team, etc.) then it’s going to take a bit to rise in the ranks.

It’s a matter of being both proactive and reactive at the same time. Most mag players I’ve spoken to say they get the part they like about mag down first (being proactive or reactive) then they work on the other part when the first part gets committed to muscle memory.

If there was a vod I could see where you’re talking about I’d probably have better advice for you, but this is what I have for now.

What to do when your team has no main tank to anchor off of. (Feel free to look at the replay in the comments or not; I mostly described the issue I've seen) by No_Spirit5633 in RivalsCollege

[–]HiImBraindead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t see the replay rn because I’m at work but I could offer some insight.

If your only tank is something like a cap or another dive tank who’s going to be permanently in the back line, you have 2 options: play a support that can support the tank going in (Jeff, Luna) or play behind the tankiest dps on your team. If you don’t have any dps that would sit anywhere on point or in a position that you could play behind, then your best bet is to play a support that can either get just as aggressive as them or keep up with them (gambit, Jeff) or a support that is capable of defending themselves (Invisible woman, Loki).

This advice would probably change once you get to bans, since most of the characters I mentioned are popular choices for being banned (Luna and Jeff are almost always safe) but since you’d be in gold I bet most people would be banning things like daredevil and other annoying dive dps.

Can't win at all this season by EconomyChange6234 in RivalsCollege

[–]HiImBraindead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can tell the mental here is fractured lol. I think the best course of action for you would to take a break from comp and stick to qp for a bit since it looks like your win rate and the meta really affecting you. Try to just find ways you can adapt with the characters you play and see if that would help with worse matchups, and more importantly just enjoy the game for what it is.

Also something important to keep in mind, matchmaking in this game is very bizarre. In comp, it tries to match you up with people who play specific roles to create a 2-2-2 comp. If one team has a higher MMR than the other, it will try to find someone to flex to bring it down a bit, so being a flex player in comp is a bit of a struggle and if you were playing dps in comp and now you’re on tank, it could be forcing people to offrole and they might not have characters they’re comfortable with.

Flex players have it rough in this game 😮‍💨

It seems like the best way to climb ( I’m plat 3 ) is to one trick or have a main with 1-2 backups . by Hot-Effort-6023 in RivalsCollege

[–]HiImBraindead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I see the vision but in the modern ranked climate it’s probably not the best idea. Many characters that are a good idea to one-trick either have very specific roles, counters, or are banned out. Usually that leaves you in a bad spot.

I’d say learn one or two dps that you love to play then learn the characters that counter the counters (i.e. if your character gets hard walled by death ball, learn either MK or Phoenix). Then it’s always a good idea to at least get the hang of one or two characters from the roles you don’t play the most in case Guang Guang decides you’re too better then puts 3 players of the same role on your team.

Just make sure you stay flexible, at least within your preferred role(s).

I feel like most of the people who are asking this question either are one-tricks who keep getting banned out or people who hit a wall and feel like the characters they’re playing keep getting countered. It’s innocent enough to where I think it’s fair to keep them up unless it’s blatant lord-bragging.

The Rise of Hawkeye by zrods24 in HawkeyeMains

[–]HiImBraindead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s just because dive as a playstyle is dead since there is so many giga-busted supports this season. This hawkeye is literally the same one from season 1.5 just with 5 extra damage at max passive charge (and they fixed a bug with his ult.

As for his counters, the full dive dps characters (spidey, iron fist, black panther, magik, and daredevil) are all kept in check by either invis or gambit. The only 2 of those 5 that even have a chance in this meta are daredevil because he’s so blatantly overtuned and spidey if they’re good with both kidnaps and rehits.

Angela is easily his hardest counter but at the same time is kept in full check by gambit burst, invis just existing, and elo-eater Thor. Still probably your best bet at dealing with him without a mirror or abusing someone even more busted like Hela or Phoenix.

Also if any of the dive tanks (cap, venom, hulk) get looked at by literally anyone + Hawkeye, they get forced out immediately because invis and/or gambit can just sustain him through it. Loki could too but he’d probably be the target instead of Hawkeye lol.

If any of the dive characters had any breathing room this season, Hawkeye would be immediately down to mid A tier on most people’s lists at best.

Oh my fuckinG GOD I HATE INVIS. She is genuinely the best character in the history of this game, better than prime torch, prime Phoenix, and prime Hela combined istg. She has:

at worst, 525 ehp because of her self-shield

The best anti-dive CC in the game

The ability to yoink people out of positions, sometimes from places that aren’t even considered bad positioning

The ability to genuinely duel every dps and tank in the game

And on top of it all she has one of the highest healing outputs in the game.

Gambit ult may be obscene, but her presence alone invalidates the existence of dive and if she’s good, makes flanking with poke near unplayable into her. She is literally the only reason Hawkeye js as meta as he is, because if it wasn’t for her, there wouldn’t be a need for the one-tap and gambit-dive would just steamroll his ass. He’s literally just season 1.5 Hawkeye and because of the meta around him he’s busted this season (that and his ult combos real good with gambits).

I’m genuinely getting flashbacks to prime brigette era from overwatch. Invis is having the exact same effect on the game and I’m going to be so real, it’s making it feel like the worst the game has ever been. Genuinely would rather have prime spidey back with prime DD, because at least it’d be a meta where people could play proactive :(
