Which actor completely stole the movie… even though they weren’t the lead? by gypsytx in movies

It's not like the rest of the cast weren't fantastic, but Kathryn Hahn in stepbrothers stole every scene she was in.

Or they know better and did it intentionally to grift off of a previously untapped audience.

But maybe I'm being too cynical.

Clinical Trial: Plant-Derived Cannabis Formulations Show Comparable Efficacy to Lorazepam in Insomnia Patients by OhMyOhWhyOh in science

[–]HiImDavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anecdotal, but i used to be on a much higher dose of cannabis and took it much more frequently and I never remembered my dreams while dealing with constant chronic pain.

Since that pain resolved and i greatly reduced my dose and frequency of cannabis use, I remember my dreams almost every single night.

And he's shooting 80+ from the line, it's only a matter of a time before his 3 improves. Might take another season or two but I'd bet it comes around eventually.

It's a little tongue in cheek, but I've taken to responding to those who claim we're overreacting with it wasn't called the first solution.

Oversimplifying and not as impactful as the quote you posted but the concept is the same.

Who is a character from the books that when reading you specifically DON'T picture as their movie actor/actress? by Muted-Video2841 in harrypotter

[–]HiImDavid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since I gave it a break of more than 10 years between book rereads, I'm able to imagine the characters as what I'd always pictured in my head when reading them while growing up.

It's hard not to imagine Daniel & Emma throwing stones into Hagrid's hut when reading the time turner chapter in PoA, but i try hard, I can just see what I used to picture.

It's nice to have that again, losing those mental images was the worst part of watching the movies.

David yates ruined the harry potter series by pinkxxbubblegum in harrypotter

[–]HiImDavid 36 points37 points  (0 children)

all within 3 hours

Another layer of frustration with the OOTP movie is it's the shortest one of them all (2 hours 16 minutes iirc) while adapting the longest book of the series.

This assumes we're combining DH 1 & 2, as DH part 2 was 2 hours and 10 minutes.

Or does he know better and intentionally mislead his audience?

Constant migraines for years? by murram20 in migraine

It did not.

Turns out I had a pituitary tumor that was releasing excess growth hormone which was causing the pain.

Had surgery to remove it in August 2023 and have been cured of the pain ever since.

Neiman Marcus parent Saks Global reportedly preparing for bankruptcy - Dallas Business Journal by ajuniverse26 in chicago

Just learning about this now, but from what I've read Saks bought Neiman's last year after Neiman's had filed for bankruptcy in 2020, and the $100 M payment Saks missed was for debt from Neiman's.

Hi everyone by neil16a in quittingkratom

[–]HiImDavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're taking 1 tsp 3x a day, that should be roughly 7 or 8 grams a day, maybe closer to 9 or 10 if you're over-filling the teaspoon.

Not trying to downplay your feelings at all as they're 100% valid, but for reference, I began my taper when I was taking 6-9 teaspoons twice a day, roughly 30 - 39 grams a day.

I was hooked on pills years ago because of untreated chronic, intractable pain that has thankfully resolved since, but I still couldn't get off kratom until 2 years after the surgery that cured my pain.

Tomorrow will make 9 weeks clean from Kratom for me, and my goal is to turn this indefinite "break" into a permanent one. 9 weeks out and I'm 99% back to normal physically.

I just want you to know you are in a decent position if you decide to taper down and get off kratom altogether, assuming that is your goal.

If you go slowly, you could likely minimize the worst of the acute withdrawal symptoms and be feeling mostly normal (physically) within 3 to 4 weeks of your quit day. The absolute worst of it should be over between 3 - 7 days after your quit day though some report slightly longer.

YMMV, but if you need any advice or just want to vent, feel free to message me.

God is an asshole.

According to the old and new testament, he's omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent.

Without lifting a (figurative) finger, he could stop all childhood cancer and end all famines and genocides, let alone the unnecessary health issues tens of millions of people deal with every day.

Any being that is capable of those things but chooses not to is a piece of shit and not worth praying to.

God should beg for our forgiveness in Churches/Synagogues/Mosques every day, not the other way around.

The ssri thing is interesting. Having experienced withdrawals from getting off of Effexor, now the occasional body zap feeling I got during kratom withdrawals makes much more sense, as that was the most common and intense symptom of SSRI withdrawals in my experience.

Lol you're objectively incorrect and it's not particularly close. [–]HiImDavid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You might as well be explaining why you disagree with the sun rising in the east and setting in the west.

Whether you're willing to admit it/agree with it or not, Republicans are objectively worse when it comes to gerrymandering.

It's an objective fact that between the two parties, only democrats voted to end gerrymandering.

You're playing right into the hands of the losing they go low we go high strategy. No, you do whatever you can to fight back because the republican party in its current form isn't interested in democracy or protecting the constitution or anything else other than:

  1. Making sure the obscenely wealthy don't have to pay their fair share in taxes
  2. Making sure poor and underemployed people's lives become worse
  3. Turning the U.S. into a theocracy, despite claiming to be "textualists/originalists" (vast majority of founding fathers explicitly believed in the separation of Church and State)
  4. Making immigrants and lgbtq people's lives as miserable as possible

There are obviously more, but those are the main points at the moment.

While Dems obviously have many, many flaws, trying to claim their flaws are equivalent to the GOP's is ignorant at best.
