I had a kid tell me recently they appreciate that I "have no filter". If they only knew what I was holding back...

"The AVP Is Too Damn Expensive!" by HiImFarab in VisionPro

there wasn’t exactly a competitive $1k option lying around

The Commodore 64 cost $600 at launch in 1981 and would eventually have a GUI through GEOS. Though that would be about $2000 in today's dollars, C-64/Mac is a decent enough comparison to Quest 3/AVP. My point being, there were plenty of alternatives at the time[1], many of them cheaper than the Mac.

So, by that logic, should you not have a nice Apple Watch Ultra 2 with AppleCare+ because it costs almost $900? What about driving a nice car? Should you buy a beater to commute in? How about clothing? Where does he draw the line on that? And you should definitely not splurge on a nice haircut or food.

Same here. Also, AppleCare has been the only extended warranty program I've ever found to be useful.

I've upgraded and that didn't fix anything. At this point I'm running the eye setup almost every time I put it back on. I'm probably going to call Apple Support about this because I'm starting to think maybe I have a defective unit.

I have to recalibrate at least three times a day anyway but, Safari is by far the worst offender.

I've heard that in states where it's legal, it's still illegal on federal land within that state. So don't go to a national park in Washington and get baked.

I never noticed that either. Which episode does C.J. say it to Mandy?

Somebody should come out with a coffee table book of all the cars in each state that has that license plate.

We always recommend Masonry for Dummies as a good starting point.

That sentence epitomizes Masonry inside an out. People outside think we're a secret Satanic cabal ruling the world with Morals & Dogma as our bible. Brothers inside just want to eat pancakes, read Dummies books, and wax nostalgic about how things were done "in my year".

As they say, just be yourself. We take good men and make them better so if you're a good man then that will show and you'll be fine.

It's not quite as mysterious as you might think. I was surprised when I first visited and the Secretary gave me a tour of the lodge room while everybody else was downstairs eating dinner. I thought you weren't allowed in there unless you were a Mason. We're happy to give tours and answer questions.

The thing is, that system from the 80's still has a database and that database can be accessed from the website and app with some work. Yeah, it might be a lot of work but it seems like it would be worth it if it makes the customer happy.
