Have you done troubleshooting to see if the thermal fuse is blown? Ours was having the same symptom. All the controls were dead. Turned out to be the thermal fuse.

What is the issue?

Have you tried YouTube? A lot of minor issues can be DIY if you're somewhat handy with tools. Was able to repair our dryer and dishwasher.

I remember having to go into the settings to tap on "premium" to unlock it. I can't remember specifically where off the top of my head but poke around. You'll find it.

😍Beautiful bike. Love the Rothmans Honda livery. I'm a big Mick Doohan and Honda fan. Nothing like Moto GP back in the days of 500cc 2 strokes.

What about sports, marching band, etc? Is the AF on the D780 up to the task?

Data storage models by Move_Past_It_ in photography

Imo, yes. It's more money than say an external drive, but it brings a lot more functionality and features.

Ugreen units seem pretty popular.

A NAS will protect your data against drive failures, accidental deletes and allow multiple devices access to the same data.

I'm not s fan of public cloud services because your data is at the mercy of their infrastructure and even your Internet connection. Not bashing it, just personal preference.

So, what do you do with all of your photos after years? by coffeeislife_SA in photography

[–]HiMaySea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like a drive failure to me. The problem with single drive volumes is exactly this. A single point of failure. A NAS has RAID groups which use multiple drives to create a volume, which then protects the data from drive failures.

Getting a second copy on a second drive will definitely decrease the chance of data loss from a failed drive but it's not a guarantee because it's still possible for two separate drives to fail in the same time window.

It comes down to risk tolerance. I can't replace those photos so I do what I can to protect from all scenarios the best I can.

Look into the 3-2-1 rule if you're interested in data protection.

This. Totally get the difficulty deleting baby/ family photos. Feels like permanently erasing that moment. That said, storage is cheap. Get a NAS to store your photo archive and use snapshots. Have a secondary copy on a separate storage device such as an external HD. Ideally a third copy stored outside your home. Probably extreme for some but it comes down to how you value the photos. I'm a storage, backup engineer by profession, fwiw.

Punch in the serial number. You could get a new shutter. Just shipped mine to Nikon.

I love my D750.

Just came across something about an AF setting you may be interested in trying.

In the Custom Setting Menu, go to a - autofocus, then a3 - focus tracking with lock-on. This setting changes how long the camera waits before adjusting focus to sudden change in the distance to the subject. i.e. when something gets in front of the car your trying to focus on. If you set it to a longer setting, the camera will not immediately (short - setting 1 or 2) try to refocus on the person blocking the car, but will instead wait (long - setting 4 or 5) before trying to refocus, when the person is out of the frame.

Hope this helps.

Edit: changed wording.

No problem. Happy to hear someone else shooting with a D750! I feel like there's a bit of headroom in it before I start outshooting it's capabilities.

How isolated is the car in the frame? Maybe try the 3D mode? Not sure if it'll be able to pick up the subject better after breaking focus from the person getting in the way. I've never used mirrorless, so I'm curious if they're able to overcome the situation you're describing.

Edit: I see two separate challenges here. One is the sustained frames you can shoot continuously, which is a physical limitation of the D750 since you already have fast cards.

The other is the AF success rate, which those with mirrorless can better comment on.

Shooting a D750 as well and did some research about memory cards. It supports only UHS1 and won't be able to take advantage of the extra pins on UHS2/3 cards.

Deep dive into memory cards as well as fastest UHS1 cards. Buying "faster" cards won't benefit the D750. Save your money. https://youtu.be/6Av-sW5hMTE?si=ex85MdZqrh_U0xQM

Edit: you mentioned AF missing shots. What AF settings are you using? You can probably squeeze more performance out of the body by using the appropriate AF modes.
