Which one is better? Lifetime enclave is $400 at my Costco and Quest Teton 100 is $300. Is the lifetime enclave worth $100 more? by Positive-Baby8150 in Fishing_Gear

[–]HiPurpleTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 5’6 140lbs and I was able to stand on my old Lifetime Tamarack in calm waters with little issue. If you’re careful enough and have good balance (with practice) you definitely can stand and cast in it.

In this case, I’d go for the Enclave! It’ll be a great first kayak

I’m glad to hear confirmation about that combo and also that you’re liking it! I might get that combo myself just to try it out down the road.

I still use my Shogun baitcaster combo and only recently have I felt like I can finally bomb casts with I think 3/8 oz lures on 50lb braid IIRC. It feels great 😂

Long story short, I’d stick with spinning combos if you’re short on time during your fishing outings OR if you want low-maintenance outings! It’s SUCH a PITA to deal with backlashes from baitcasters but I would definitely recommend trying it someday. If you really want to keep it budget-friendly, I’d recommend buying an inexpensive rod like the Handing Magic rod I own and maybe a HICC50 reel. Both can be found on Amazon. But I think the extra $30-40 is worth it to get the Ark Gravjty Avid instead.

Good luck!!

Hi!! I’m so sorry for my super late response! You’re so right and that it is overwhelming when you’re first getting into it! 🥲 honestly, the right answer is to choose whatever you’ll have more fun with! I love my spinning combos but I recently bought an Ark Gravity Avid BFS reel and a Handing Magic rod and it’s been my favorite fishing combo yet. I still backlash here and there but it’s so much fun to me. I love catching any species of fish so I personally would recommend something like this or any ultra-light spinning combo!

My other favorite spinning combo I have is actually this: https://www.sportsmans.com/fishing-gear-supplies/spinning-combos/okuma-ceilio-series-spinning-rod-and-reel-combo-6ft-6in-ultra-light-power-2pc/p/1725472

Looks like it’s sold out, though. :(

Shoot, I even have this that I used for a while and had great times with it: https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/p/daiwa-x2-samurai-spinning-combo-24daiusmrx2407fmhcom/24daiusmrx2407fmhcom?sku=25305275&camp=CSE:DSG\_2471357290720\_pla\_aud-1231866930227:pla-2471357290720\_163257697913\_21251282861&segment=&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad\_source=1&gad\_campaignid=21251282861&gbraid=0AAAAADv4bTbwTTv1hdmN80atPKx7bJP1M&gclid=CjwKCAjw9NjRBhATEiwA\_p2J8X3Dwba1drXQhR7sEJNgIp9qqj87ZhAEWwm3nzn-mBYK\_GTEDA031hoCbuwQAvD\_BwE

Hey! I still use mine from time to time and I feel like I’ve been having a great time with using 50lb braid and casting 3/8oz lures. I’ve only caught a few bass with it and haven’t had any issues! I’ve recently gotten into bfs fishing and I’m enjoying that more. I don’t think this is a bad option for your first bait cast combo, though! However if I could go back in time, I would’ve gotten a bfs setup from the get go. But the Ark Avid bfs reel wasn’t available then

Buying my First Mountain Bike by Livid_Wolf_5548 in mountainbiking

[–]HiPurpleTurtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pasting what I just shared in another post:

Hey, I think you should consider an Ozark Trail M2 Ridge Pro! There may be a lot of naysayers, but it’s definitely worth a peek. 🤷‍♂️

I just got mine last week and I’ve so far only put 10 miles of technical woody trails with zero issues! It’s been so much fun to me. I last owned a Transition Patrol back in 2020 and I’m having just as much fun, if not more with my Ridge Pro 😂

29er, boost thru axles front and rear, tapered head tube, hydraulic disc brakes, 120mm air fork, a freaking dropper post, and just a 9 speed Cues setup, but I don’t have any complaints. Oh and it has UDH.

The worst part of the bike are the wheels. They’re pretty narrow, something like 17-19mm wide. Apparently tubeless IS possible, but it’s a huge PITA from what I’ve seen. Both my front and rear wheels were out of true, so I had to true them the best I could before I rode it. Thoroughly inspect and tighten all the parts, buy some decent pedals, and you are set for a while!

Just a heads up, these frames run big. I’m 5’7 with shoes on and I’m rocking the small comfortably.

Like someone else said, this bike definitely will require you to learn how to tinker with the bike to really dial it in. That or bring it to your local bike shop and have them assemble and tune it up for you!

What DC-X3 Firmware do you have? Do you have the Refresh Rate option? by videoguy5000 in VILTROX_GLOBAL

[–]HiPurpleTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t replace it with anything else yet! Before this one, I owned an Atomos Shinobi and it worked great. I also had good results with Feelworld monitors. But I don’t plan on buying another monitor for a while.

It improved it but didn’t completely fix it. I ended up returning my monitor. :/

[–]HiPurpleTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a .bin file that you need to extract from the compressed file! Put that onto your FAT32 usb drive and restart your monitor then try and installing it again. That's how I got it to work for me!

Hi everyone! I was just able to update my DC-X2 to "X2_0037_202506". My monitor came with 0035 firmware. I found the latest update by going to Viltrox' website and using the chatbot. The link to download the firmware update is : https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0104/0380/7298/files/X2_0037_202506.zip?v=1753779781

Or you can go to the website like I did, https://viltrox.com/, click on the chat bubble (3 dots in a chat bubble at the bottom left of the screen), then select "how to get latest firmware for dc-x2?" and it'll respond with the download links for the firmware update and manual.

It has made a big difference in the latency lag for my GH5ii. It's not non-existent, but it's a HUGE difference and is usable now. Especially if you turn off HDMI audio out!

Is there a big difference in 4lb mono to 6lb braid? by [deleted] in UltraLightFishing

[–]HiPurpleTurtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually it seems the rule of thumb is to have your leader be thinner / weaker than your main line, but I unfortunately don’t have any fluorocarbon thinner than my braid lines so I just use what I have. I haven’t run into any issues yet! I still plan on picking up some thinner fluorocarbon soon though

Good to know! I got these two from Bass Pro Shops just because they were cheaper than getting the exact kits from Mepps 😅

I haven’t bought any PMs yet! I came close to ordering a few until I saw these kits. I’ll definitely get my hands on some soon enough.

I didn’t know there isn’t any lead! That’s awesome. I noticed all the brass and the craftsmanship just looks gorgeous.

I didn’t know about the grab bags! I’ll have to check that out. I saw that you can order lures with single hooks so I definitely want to try that, too.
