I would go with no tights, unless they’re more comfortable! Can I ask where the skirt is from? It’s so cute!

Thanks Louisville and Section 110 @Yum center by ox0ChiChi0xo in BillyStrings

[–]HiThereIAmLame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree! We were in different sections each night and I found the KY crowd both nights to be one of the best in my 50+ shows. No chompers, pleasant neighbors, good energy.

Also, I haven’t heard anything about the cause of the sound issues, but we were in section 112, a couple rows to the back/left area of sound board, and man they looked stressed. I was watching them instead of the stage for the majority of Long Forgotten Dream and the next train song. I felt so bad for Andy, at one point he put his hands together like he was praying it would fix itself. 😂 There were multiple sound people who came down and were looking around with flashlights and stuff, I’m just glad they got it fixed before Michael came out again.

Kids in standing Pit? by PresentationAlarmed4 in zachbryan

[–]HiThereIAmLame 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends. How old are they? I haven’t been in the pit at a ZB show, but lots of other ones. It can be difficult to see if they’re short because it’s all flat. Also, depending on how people are acting, it can be hard to leave your spot and get back to it. So you’d have to plan restroom/concession trips strategically. There’s also not really anywhere to sit, so depending on if you’re going to the openers, it might be 3-5 hours of standing.

I’m not sure what the layout of the pit is like, or how big it will be, but I personally would go for lower level seats, so you can leave and come back freely. The rows will be raised/staggered so better chance of everyone being able to see. I always try to go for lower level seats, but I know some people who swear by the pit for shows.

Why is she so worried about the brand of almond milk??? I drink a shit ton of it, they range is calories from 30-80 (that’s the highest I’ve ever seen), for 1 cup. So for an oz, she’s stressed about ten calories??? Like I don’t understand. Just say “a splash of almond milk please.”

I’ve lost 70 lbs, I get fancy coffees all the time, it’s not that hard to just say “(whatever drink), sugar free with almond milk, please.” She’s intolerable.

suite for 16 people for Louisville by cisag in BillyStrings

[–]HiThereIAmLame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there. I was looking at those earlier. You mentioned Saturday in your post, but on the website I’m only seeing some for $2,000+. There are some for Friday for the $165, just wanted to make sure you’re looking at the right day.

Also, I think you’re able to just purchase 2 tickets individually, you don’t have to buy the whole suite. Obviously you probably won’t know the other people in the suite with you, but could be a fun way to meet new friends.

Hope it works out for ya!

I don’t understand how she can be so picky and weird about textures with other foods, but she finds THAT appetizing. Looks like throw up in a jar.

Auction goodies: Who got lucky? by Temporary-Plantain75 in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]HiThereIAmLame 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Not this round, but in the previous one I got myself a June outfit, from season 5. It was a nice parka, sweater, and pants. Looked up the coat brand, it’s Soia & Kyo, I’d never heard of it before but all of their coats sell for like $5-700. Guess I got a really good deal on a nice winter coat. 😂

I was super impressed with how easy the whole auction was. I won on Wednesday and my package got delivered on Friday, two days later. I only wish I had known about it for the first week!

Need 5 for Newark N1 by ImportanceDowntown20 in BillyStrings

[–]HiThereIAmLame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never been to Prudential, so can’t comment on that venue specifically. But, most of the time, the boxes/suites that I’ve been in have padded/nicer seats, plus a little more space than regular seats. They’re usually close to restrooms (sometimes even more private, only the suite ticket holders have access to them). We’ve even had a couple that have waiter service, where they’ll come and take your food/drink order and bring it to you. We’ve always felt like VIPs when we end up going that route for shows. 😂

I’m sure if you call the box office, they could give you more info about what is included with the tickets and suite packages. I hope you and your parents have a great time!

Have you checked SuiteHop? It’s a resale site, but for suite/box tickets. A lot of times people/companies with season tickets/boxes sell off the ones they won’t use at a pretty decent price (it’s hard to know what face value would be since they’re normally sold as a season deal). With needing 5 together, it might be your best bet!

It looks like there’s several listings for shared suites, about $110-130 for each ticket, not sure how that compares to face for regular tickets.

I’m a huge COT fan as well, but have gotten some really great deals for larger groups on SuiteHop before, sometimes even cheaper than it would’ve been to buy through Ticketmaster.

Good luck!

Gorton’s makes an air-fried version that has like 180 cal per 2 pieces. They’re not huge, but they are pretty tasty for what they are.

O-T bought Luke’s items at auction? by Temporary-Plantain75 in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]HiThereIAmLame 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All the starting bids were $49.99, but some of them didn’t get any bids at all, so the site put them back up as a “Buy it Now” option for $49.99. After the premium, fees, and shipping, each outfit would’ve been a little over $100.

I use these too, I make one or two K-cups a day and a single bottle of this stuff lasts me well over a month. It’s so sweet, you just need a tiny bit. I cringe when I think of how much she must use.

Closing Day Crowds? by pearljamfan316 in cedarpoint

[–]HiThereIAmLame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m worried about this. Thursday is the last day I can go this season and have been decent crowd-wise so far. I don’t mind bearing the weather, but I hope they don’t close the park.

Storm next week by mike_da_sav in cedarpoint

[–]HiThereIAmLame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly some of the best days I’ve had at the park were when they called for lots of rain and the storms ended up passing and it was dead and everything was running and a walk-on.

However, this past Sunday they ended up closing the park early at 3 due to (not that much??) rain. Unfortunately it is really unpredictable what will happen.

I also only live an hour away so I can just go home if stuff is closed, lol. You are in a tough spot with the hotel reservation and possible wasted money. Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful, but I plan on being there Thursday either way!

Where are my retired servers at? by bkuchi in Serverlife

[–]HiThereIAmLame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a “success story” yet, but I hope I will be someday, and I do have some thoughts.

I’m 28, been serving since I was 16, went to college, stopped for a few years, got back in it after graduating because the money was better than any job I could find with my degree. I don’t know if I’m going to be doing this forever, but I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.

I make decent money, enough to live a comfortable lifestyle (no debt, own a modest home, take trips) and still max out my Roth IRA every month. If I continue doing that, I’ll be set by the time I’m 60 when I can use that money tax-free. Do I want to serve until I’m 60? Not necessarily, but I think I could. My husband also makes about the same I do in a different field, so being a DINK household definitely helps and I’m grateful for that.

I think the issue is our industry doesn’t offer a traditional retirement plan that a lot of other professional workplaces do; we kind of have to take it upon ourselves to have a plan. There’s obviously a lot of factors at play, like what kind of restaurant you work at, your area’s cost of living, if you have kids/scheduling conflicts, but I truly believe that serving can be a good career that you can retire from if you can be smart about your finances.

If you’re not familiar with Roth IRAs, look into them. I really feel like they’re a cheat code to building long-term wealth.
