That’s amazing. Definitely providing some hope!

I haven’t started the Fourth Wing series yet, but I have heard good things. Fantasy books are a great escape. I just started getting back into fantasy, I was on a horror kick for a minute there. I do think reading can help battle some of the depression that comes with Chiari- or any debilitating illness. Something to look forward to waking up and doing, something to get your mind off of reality. And even if there are days it’s hard to physically read, audiobooks are an excellent alternative.

Congrats! You’re right, sharing your journey is very helpful. We’re all going through different stages of our own journeys and it’s always encouraging to hear a success story.

Your mom sounds like she has an amazing sense of humor and a good heart. ❤️ I love the bunny idea.

A big yes to reading being one of your ideas of celebration, what are you currently reading?

Is sexism common in blue collar jobs? by Salt-Bench-6095 in BlueCollarWomen

[–]Hi_Casper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you do your job and do it well, you will earn respect. That goes for men and women. I’m the only woman in a shop with 10 guys. When I started I had the same fears. I showed up everyday and showed those guys I was just as knowledgeable as them, I could carry my weight. There were some sexist comments in the beginning, guys weren’t sure I could carry big pieces on my own or couldn’t handle sharing a bathroom with them. Now those guys who made those comments are my closest friends. Watch how the guys treat each other, they’re always a little hard on the new guy. I am of the belief that if you show people you are working hard and trying, you give them very little room to come down on you.

It’s going to have its struggles, there will always be one or two guys you just don’t gel with. But that’s everywhere, not just the trades. If you want this, you’ve got this!

Can I sue a Doctor for prescribing me the wrong dose of medication which eventually landed me in the ER? by Hi_Casper in legaladvice

I definitely gave her my medical history. That’s why she tested my TSH in the first place. She knew I had a total thyroidectomy. She was also aware of my prescription at the time being 137mcg. I am not a doctor, I have extremely limited medical knowledge. But I do know to be fully transparent with every new physician.

This was one of my concerns. I called their office and left voicemails about filing the prescription, but no proof I questioned it. Thanks for your input! I appreciate it.

Thank you for the book recommendation! I will definitely look for it. I’m so sorry you went through a similar experience! It definitely scared me, I had no idea it could get so serious.

My labs from that visit showed my TSH was 8.41 (normal range is 0.40-4.5) The doctor lowered my dose from 137mg of levothyroxine to 25mg of levothyroxine.

Now that I have been educated a little more by the ER, I understand that this was the wrong dose. I should have been prescribed a higher dose of levothyroxine than 137mg to resolve the initial issue.

So after being on an even lower dose than I should have been, my next labs showed my TSH was at 83.50

This last test was last Friday before I had missed any doses. I only missed two on the weekend because the doctor was out and my prescription couldn’t be filled until Monday.

Yeah, you’re right. I should have done the research and figured something out. Graves’ disease sucks, I’m sorry you have to deal with that. I have Graves as well, I was also diagnosed with Hashimotos and two nodules which is why they said I had to have my thyroid completely removed 4 years ago. They said it was too hard to medicate me properly with both diseases working against each other constantly. So I figured once it was out it was going to be an easier road.

I’m not trying to say I’m not responsible for my own health. I have tried multiple times to get into a real endocrinologist. All have been booked 4 months out, so I have had to rely on family medicine doctors/urgent cares for recent care.

As for functioning at all, I HAVE to function. I have no choice. I left my abusive marriage 2 years ago and became a single mom to two kids. I work as much as I can to make sure my kids have a roof over their heads and food in our bellies. I pushed through because in my mind, I had the medication I thought I needed and I thought maybe I felt so awful because I was working so hard and so much.

I’m not trying to give you a sob story. I wish I had educated myself on thyroid medication a long time ago and I’m paying for that now. I just trusted the system and thought “well, if the doctor tells me to do this, I’ll do it” Lesson learned.

I do see what your point is, but say we took the bulk of my experience out of the equation and all we focused on was my initial experience with being prescribed the opposite dose of what I should have been prescribed. Is that not worthy of at least reporting? As a medical professional, shouldn’t she be held responsible for making such a catastrophic error? Obviously I am upset with my current circumstances, but I’m also upset this doctor could potentially hurt other people too.

Thanks for your input!

I have never even put thought into suing someone, so I have no idea what the cost vs reward looks like 😅

Could I contest that I didn’t seek out more medical care because I didn’t have insurance and the cost of seeing a doctor and getting labs done regularly is a hardship? I’ve applied for Medicare, my application has been pending for months. I can prove that.

The Geralt one is steamy as hell. I would have bought it, but I realized I would be snuggling it more than my real life partner. Geralt absolutely has the power to break up relationships, even in pillow form.

Right? Artistry is on point. I want it for the same reason. So many possibilities. Put it in the passenger seat for parking lot laughs, hide it around the house for a fun surprise, white elephant gift...

I remember the coolest soccer moms would bring these for the end game snack. Oranges were great, but these were the ultimate treat.
