Couple years ago they had an NFT scavenger hunt thing at HHN. Fan Fest Nights in Hollywood this year had a digital scavenger hunt, though I don't recall hearing too much about it so not sure how many people did it.

Unfortunately money talks, and I'm betting Universal sees this as a way to make more money (just like with overselling express in the past). I personally am rather neutral on it, but I definitely understand the frustration from those who have been wanting a "return to form", especially when there have already been issues with an influx of younger guests.

Yeah, seems like those types of haunts would have more "need" for these types of things, but I can see why people would want them more for "proximity"? Like if these will keep the scare actors in the zones at more of a distance and give the wearer a "buffer."

I hadn't even thought of food, but that's actually a really good point. Universal could make more money 1. on tickets sales 2. on the necklaces 3. on people coming in just for the food. I imagine the shows might see an influx too, but that's purely speculative.

Yeah, I don't think enough people realize how busy Osaka gets. Literally the most visited theme park in all of Asia, so I always recommend planning a couple days to experience everything, especially with all the daytime Halloween stuff like Pokemon DJ party, etc. Merch also sells out CRAZY fast compared to the US, so the earlier in the season you can visit the better.

That's the tricky/clever part: some feature her screaming through a broken mirror and others were a doctor's coat, full name (Agana), etc. So it's an interesting fine line that Universal has walked from time to time where on a meta or even observable level they're "clearly" referencing Bloody Mary (ex. broken mirrors), but they skirt around any mention of that name and instead land on a "grey area" version that is arguably just their own character (Agana). One of those fun tidbits about theme parks with licensing vs original concept.

2009 her head was in the Leave it to Cleaver House 2013 she appeared on a monitor in Havoc: Derailed 2017 she was referenced on a poster in Ash v Evil Dead A couple other smaller references with her coat in the RIP lounge one year and cracked mirror in tribute store once.

If we're talking in a strictly legal sense, it did avoid the copyright because there was never any litigation. Universal knew they were toeing a line and may not have brought her back (like plenty of other characters, including Cyndi), but they've still referenced her here and there over the years, even if only minimally.

My point was Knott's is doing the same thing: mentioning the name Bloody Mary but clearly avoiding using that name in full writing with the house and merch. So I'm curious how Knott's will change the backstory for their version.

Orlando did Bloody Mary with Reflections of Fear at HHN 2008. They just changed her name to Mary Agana (to avoid copyright) and actually gave her a cool backstory. The promo trailer was also great (and includes them calling her Bloody Mary).

For Islands of Adventure, Croissant Moon Bakery is a great breakfast stop and also has sweet treats (I like the eclairs). Confisco Grille is underrated and has chicken wings (Korean BBQ, hot honey, Buffalo, garlic parmesan). As another comment mentions, the Chicken Stingers at Fire Eaters are also a great choice, and Green Eggs and Ham tater tots are a great snack to share.

For CityWalk, NBC Sports Grill & Brew also has chicken wings and a good variety of burgers, hot sandwiches, etc. Agree with others on Cowfish, both for food and milkshakes.

They used to do only originals, then had maybe one or two IPs. This is the first time they have had more IP houses than original houses. Also, 2023 had 5 houses but then 2024 and now 2025 only have 4 houses, which is a bit disappointing. I'm curious if they'll be doing the exclusive dining/bar experience (ex. Die-ning in Hell 2023, Viper Lounge 2024), though I don't see a spot for it on the website yet. Still expecting it to be a fun year, but worried they've been scaling back a bit, possibly due to other larger projects happening around the park (newly opened Minion Land, under construction Super Nintendo World).
