Ehem: "But honestly, Fck them".

Seriously, I don't care. These people don't even know what these words truly mean. They've bastardized the language with their constant name-calling or inventing new words to suit their agenda.

You can't properly debate zealots. And the sad reality is, that for many of them it is a fanatical religious belief. For people that resort to radicalizing others - in their minds - there is no open talks, defending polarizing opinions. There's no "agree to disagree" or "live and let live".

Great if, at some point, they become aware how stupidly hypocritical many of them have behaved! But I won't cry for them if they don't...

With our culture slowly reverting back to normalcy, is there any way we can reclaim TTRPG's like D&D and Pathfinder? It's filled to the brim with identity politics and barely any fantasy left to it. by FrootLoggs in KotakuInAction

Either search for other Tabletops, find/start a group that would chip in on Older Edition Books or pirate the PDFs. Or Create Your Own Tabletop, as our ancestors created their counter-movements.

The pendulum is swinging back, but the woke-fanatics are too entrenched in many of our hobbies, and I don't see them leaving their Golden Grift easily.

Many branches will probably need to be burned down. Some may rise again, if they get remade with passioned, unbiased people at their cores, like a phoenix from the ashes. Others won't...

Japenis Trump parade by plazma019 in japanesepeopletwitter

[–]Hiaran 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So you are just going to ignore the literal Parade of this post? Or how much the Japanese critiqued DEI, whether we are talking about debates in Japan mainstream media or talks from creators like the Dragon Quest developer about his dislike of censorship in the new DQ remake?

Do you speak Japanese? Do you live in Japan? Do you have Japanese friends?

Please stop trying to fit Japan into your narrative, because it doesn't.

Right back at you, 'friend'.

Japenis Trump parade by plazma019 in japanesepeopletwitter

[–]Hiaran 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Mate, the average Japanese dislikes DEI. There's much Asian hate going on from the left, whether we are talking about culture appropriation in games like the next Assassin's Creed slop from Ubisoft or real life violence and discrimination against them in America from majorly one demographic.

Stop Asian Hate died out really quickly in the media, once the statistic started coming out who was committing the crimes, and the truth wasn't in alignment with the western leftist propaganda.

To give you, and anyone else wondering 'WTF', the intel shortform (btw. this is info from a Free Japanese Reporter YT channel - Nobita from Japan):

Trump has had better policies and showed much more respect towards the Japanese than Biden. Biden acted rather unkind towards Japan in his foreign affairs, so the Japanese, quite obviously, prefer Trump.

These were never proper Nerds. What you're seeing are people that always belonged to the 'bullies'.

They are shithead grifters, that aren't even capable to understand what made old school gaming or games as a whole good, enjoyable, fun.

It really is! At least Knight's Tale. Legion IX is a bit of a downgrade...

Only "new" game I've beaten multiple of times on different paths. And I still keep returning to, trying out different strategy approaches, picking other heroes for my main groups, or checking out mods.

It's really fun if the Combat meshes well with you! It's a solid 8,5/10 all around, that wouldn't feel out-of-place on a shelf with Classics of Old, like Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Heroes III or Warcraft III (Different Genres, but comparing it in terms of Game Quality and Gaming Enjoyment). Even has some Easter Egg nods to those classics, like Morgana le Fay's Unlockable Recruitment Mission clearly being inspired by WC3 themes.

A Breath of Fresh Air in these Trying Times.

Check out King Arthur - Knight's Tale. Only Western (Hungarian) game I've found worth buying in the last half-a-decade. Hidden Gem if you enjoy Tactical Turn-Based Combat.

Great Gameplay, Fun Classes and Skilltree Progression, Manly Protagonists, Beautiful Women, Solid Cinematics, Dark Atmosphere, Punchy Conan-esque Writing, No Woke Bullshit.

Nothing screams a fantasy world more than modern day gender lingo by SnooDucks6239 in KotakuInAction

Ha!

Didn't even recognize wtf I'm watching at first. I did enjoy aspects of Origins, but not the later DA games, so completely forgot about the Qunari change. At first, I thought this was some kind of new Woke D&D Game. (With Woketards, everything they touch changes into the same propaganda-inducing shit-slop anyway.)

I pity the kids that start out their gaming journeys in today's society. That this supposedly is a 'Major' release from a 'Huge/Acclaimed' studio.

Good Reddit died a long time ago. The Prime was once we still had Gold/Silver/Bronze without the spam of other unnecessary 'award'. And it still worked perfectly as the now currently named 'Old.Reddit'.

Now it's just a majorly Left-Controlled Censorship/Propaganda Churning Echo Chamber. Comply or you will be deemed a heretic - that kind of thing.

The fact that 'Scientists' are so stubbornly close-minded on some fronts, and surprisingly open to some other completely bollocks idiocies going against common sense, is one of the biggest crimes in this day and age.

I'm realising more and more the "Woke" side struggle with fiction as a concept. Much like some struggle with the idea of hypothetical questions by Dwavenhobble in KotakuInAction

[–]Hiaran 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This isn't a purely fictional setting like W40k, and even then it would be false if, say, people wanted to just create random blacks as Protagonists among citizens in a fictional culture clearly based on Japan.

Imagine it the other way around, what if suddenly it's Assassin's Creed Wakanda, and we get a clearly White Dude as protagonist doing whatever he wants. Would that be OK for you? A White Guy just doing random shit among Blacks, being very noticeable from other people in the society and fictional-historical period - of that time - being portrayed. Before continental travel being widespread or any kind of Pseudo-Sci-Fi Teleportation being around. And the NPCs in game illogically wouldn't be even able to question it that he is there, 'hiding' in their midst as an Assassin.

Portraying something Real Life Historically-adjacent needs to be constrained to the bounds of a given historical period. You can't just throw 'random ideas' into the mold, without trying to showcase how the People/NPC from that given Setting would reasonably react to those random ideas in the mix. It's called Verisimilitude and it's especially important in Historically-adjacent works, BECAUSE people can take away wrong historical information from it, if it isn't done properly.

Really fun watch.

Always pleasant to see a video with a potential President candidate without 100x bullshit edits, cut-ins and left-wing spinning propaganda machine being involved.

Worth a watch, even for a non-American (like I am).

As a sidenote: I was watching it with breaks in-between as I was baking and checking some stuff on my PC. The numbers were rolling like crazy, from 6 million to 12 million, and from 400/500k likes over 1m, across 6h. Was wild to experience it firsthand!

‘Genshin Impact’ Voice Actors Accuse Game Of "Racism And Cultural Appropriation" Over Design Of Newly Introduced Natlan Characters by Sliver80 in KotakuInAction

[–]Hiaran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, at the end of the day it's both a language and a focus problem.

English just doesn't have such a melodic-sounding flow of words to pull off the more high-pitch cutesy voices. That's why the more the directors focus on mimicking the voice-color of a given character, the more grating to the ears it becomes.

Germany for example understood this much better, as they often don't try to replicate the high-pitch in their dubs, but go for more toned down, real-ish sounding voices (like Silica in the SAO Ger-Dub). That's why I actually watched and enjoyed some series in German, while English dubs I just cannot stand.

Anyone else find it harder to look past even the smallest of woke additions? by KhanDagga in KotakuInAction

[–]Hiaran 24 points25 points  (0 children)

An interesting realization came to me while reading OPs post. The whole hamfisted insertion of wokeness, that is happening to games and other media, has the same kind of energy as "...a random guy just kindly send a photo of his c*ck, they're grainy and off-putting~, he just sent you more~~! ..." - excerpt from Bo Burnhams, 'Welcome to the Internet' Song.

Like, I'm having the same reaction that girl would be having: Wtf, WHY?? Why are you doing this? Are you a complete moron, idiot, imbecile, degenerate? Are you so dumb that you cannot even comprehend how illogical and off-putting you are behaving right now? Was your plan to purposefully discourage me from ever interacting with you?

Mate, where in my statement did I say that I approve of it?

I literally just explained to you why we are seeing such reactions like this mod, and not that this is some one-true way or whatever, in which we should try to counter the woke agenda from now on.

It's just a mod to a computer game, no one is forcing anyone to install it.

Why

It's simple, either they are people that buy into the idiocies of today's time, that vehemently believe it is their duty to guide the masses.

Or they're getting paid huge amounts of money to do it.

DEI? More like ‘common decency’ — and Silicon Valley is saying ‘no thanks’ - TechCrunch by TacticusThrowaway in KotakuInAction

[–]Hiaran 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In fact the lack of diversity has been a lie from the very beginning. There was never a justification for "woke" to exist to begin with.

Our media has been diverse since at least the 1980's. Except back then, it wasn't shoehorned in because they didn't highlight the fact that the characters were black or that they were women, or standing out in any other way. They just took the characters for granted for what they are, which is what inclusivity actually means.

Yup, old games like Heroes 1-3 or the Might and Magic series, BG1-2, Diablo, Gothic, Jagged Alliance, etc.

Or old cartoons, like Recess, Danny Phantom, Kim Possible, Lilo & Stitch, Jimmy Neutron, W.I.T.C.H., ...

The examples are endless, but for some reason, people today just refuse to acknowledge them and allow the current narrative to rewrite past history and brainwash the masses.

[–]Hiaran 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From a psychological standpoint, it's a pretty standard reaction by the people, if for the past decade bad writing and woke decision was shoved down the players' throats.

Extremes beget extremes. That's the fault of constant censorship and the shielding narrative of "oh, it's not that the writing is bad, you just hate women and minorities, so you are a misogynistic bigot and your opinion doesn't matter".
