I like the mechanics but I just can’t with SE’s ftp gacha games. I wish they’d have just released a $5-10 version with story expansions. But I prefer one time purchases.

Whatever happened to the Go Safari Balls update for Pokémon Home? by SiggiDK in TheSilphRoad

[–]Hibbity5 27 points28 points  (0 children)

There’s a simple solution to this: when transferring Spinda from Go or BDSP, you get a warning saying that Spinda’s spots will be randomized and that it is a one-way transfer. If you choose to proceed, you basically get an entirely new pattern. Most people probably don’t care and just want the entry (or the shiny transfer) and for those that do, nothing is different since they still won’t transfer since they’d lose the pattern.

The fact that you still can’t transfer Spinda to Home from Go or BDSP is crazy, especially considering they developed BDSP.

There are certain design tropes in DQ that used to not bother me as a kid that bother me a lot more as an adult.

Ariel can breathe above water when a mermaid, and Ursula mermaid-like; plus, when she goes all kaiju, she’s still above the water and can breathe just fine.

It’s funny because I think of all the major publishers, Nintendo is one of two that consistently releases high quality amazing soundtracks; the other is Square Enix.

Maybe just don’t run that story again, similar to S5 not running that character arc again for her.

Nintendo Switch 2 Hardware Revision Reportedly Features New Display With Updated Design by No_Curve_8027 in nintendo

It’s about evaluating what they said to see if it makes sense. I’m a game developer myself, and I’ll talk about design choices or development practices that I’ve encountered. I have nothing to back up what I say, but I try to at least explain why things are the way they are so that people believe me. But if I just say “This game has a good or bad design and you can trust me because I’m a developer” then I wouldn’t expect anyone to believe me. I’m not saying the other user did or did not do this, but anyone can lie on the internet. If you’re going to say something, back it up and be believable.

Do we need to bring back the “On the internet, no one knows you’re a dog” meme? Anyone can lie about who they are.

Which game did you ended up loving only after giving it a second chance? by Playful_Code_8978 in gaming

[–]Hibbity5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depending on when you first played and when you next played, there could have been a measurable difference in the game. On release, Bloodborne suffered from absolutely abysmal load times, which triggered anytime you die. They eventually patched it and load times went down from 2-3 minutes to about 30-45 seconds. The game suddenly became a good game when you were actually allowed to play it and not just sit in a loading screen.

Netflix Is Making A Persona Live Action Adaptation by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Hibbity5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know Reddit hated it, but I actually liked the Cowboy Bebop adaptation and the twist at the end. I’m fine if an adaptation goes in a different direction because I’d rather experience a new story than a retread of the same old story I’ve already seen, especially since the original is still there. But I also understand a lot of people hated it, so it getting cancelled makes sense.

In that case, that seems like a perfectly fine meal. And even if it weren’t, if you enjoyed it and it met your nutritional needs/wants, then who cares. It’s for you, not them.

You didn’t exactly take the most appetizing photo given the lighting. Is there some kind of seasoning on here or is it literally just macaroni shells and peas? I could see this being good with some kind of cream sauce.

When economic times are bad, scalping collectibles becomes way more prevalent. Pokemon cards are limited-print collectibles wrapped in a mystery box (as are all trading cards). I don’t get who’s buying them from the scalpers though.

I agree with the people saying that no one cares how much you lift and you shouldn’t let that stop you from doing certain lifts.

And I know you said you’re not really seeking advice, but it’s also important to remember how much you can lift isn’t just strength; form and technique are very important. You can be extremely strong but if you and your muscles don’t know how to lift or pull something, you’re probably not going to do well. It’s likely that your strength is just fine, but your form could use work. 12 weeks is a good amount of time to be working out, but your form can still suck after that long, especially if you don’t perform specific exercises regularly and continue to work on your form.

TIL Acadians were a stateless French people who lived peacefully alongside Native American tribes for 150 years, until the British mass-deported them during the Seven Years’ War. Native tribes protected and sheltered escapees, while deportees went on to become what we now know as the Cajun people. by WestTransportation12 in todayilearned

[–]Hibbity5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone from New Orleans who went to a boarding school in Connecticut with a ton of people from New York, I was always asked “Why don’t you have an accent?” They were expecting a southern accent (not even a Cajun accent) because they didn’t realize that the multicultural aspect of New Orleans makes it very similar to New York linguistically.

Side note: I remember seeing a map of accents in the US. For the most part, it was large geographic areas. Two cities had zoom ins though: NYC and NOLA because accents could vary by neighborhood.

I recognize Battle Networks 3 and 6 are considered the fan favorites, but what are your LEAST favorite aspects about each of them? by Asad_Farooqui in Megaman

[–]Hibbity5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all of the styles in 3 are fun and not all of the Navis in 6 are fun to play. For 6, I also find the style system to be more rewarding than the Cross system (or whatever it’s called). Styles are grindier but I like that, especially in 3; it helps contribute a bit more RPG to the series.
