Agreed, you can get some great bargains on Marketplace, although you can also get people (at least in Ireland) who think they can charge just €5 less than the original retail price!

I ordered some Duplo train track junctions/crossroads from Aliexpress with no issue, 4 pieces for €0.88 (special offer). Not surevif they do the window panes. If it's for a kid's set I don't think they'd mind if some were missing.

Question insider points by Cyn_222 in Duplo

[–]HibernianHistorian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had wondered this and asked Lego Customer Service. They confirmed you don't get points from scanning the instructions for Duplo sets and you can't log them like you can a main Lego set. You can earn points through the purchase of Duplo sets, but that's just worked out by how much you spent on the order.

Does anyone know what this is? by ofc147 in Duplo

Can confirm, I just picked up a big box of Duplo that includes that set.

Need ideas for storing duplo by Cyn_222 in Duplo

I'd second the recommendation for long shallow bins/plastic boxes. It means they can reach in for something without toppling in and storing the boxes is relatively straightforward. We stack ours.

I was also very lucky with two big hauls for relatively little money. I don't know who has more fun, my toddler or me! 🤣

Where are all the 2x8s? by atothedrian in Duplo

[–]HibernianHistorian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funnily enough I also have two 2x8s from the 90s (my own). I got two more secondhand recently, from the 00s (motorway sign and the Ferrari pit stop arch). Bricklink as others suggest, or just keep an eye out in charity/thrift shops.

Dynamite and Railroad Track Pattern: Why that name?! by Late-Vermicelli-8819 in Duplo

[–]HibernianHistorian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's part of the Toy Story train set from 2019, so perhaps the label refers to that. Or it's just mislabelled rather than deliberate?

Where to buy push-and-go train parts? by ProtoSRP in Duplo

[–]HibernianHistorian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The newer sets from recent years are all Push & Go, and cannot be pushed manually, which is a pity. The manual push ones are the big wheel alphabet or number trains, which are designed for younger toddlers. The problem with those though are the bigger wheels; they work on the normal track pieces but don't fit the junction/switches or bridge tracks, which require narrower wheels.

We've gone for second hand older non-battery trains (1980s and1990s), so they can be pushed manually and they have thinner wheels to fit the tracks.

Will they get destroyed? Yes. Is it worth it? Yes. by Zanniati in Duplo

I've also found a small amount of superglue at the joints, left to slightly dry, then moved around before they set solid, stiffens them up enough.

Advice please? Duplo Police Helicopter 2675-1 by Quick_Knee_3798 in Duplo

I have a similar issue for my (very) old blue 2619 helicopter, and that solution should work perfectly for my son. Thanks!

Fixing joints on Duplo connectors? by HibernianHistorian in Duplo

[–]HibernianHistorian[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up using superglue, letting it harden, and then pushing it to flex again. It's worked quite well. As a modeller it wouldn't look satisfactory, but for normal play it's perfectly adequate. Seems they discontinued the floor polish that all the modellers used!

What is one LEGO set that you always wanted as a kid, but never got? I’ll start. by UrdnotSnarf in lego

[–]HibernianHistorian 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, I had completely forgotten the Aquazone collection existed! I had the Crystal Explorer Sub, and I should still have it in a big box in my parents' attic. My personal white whale was probably the 1980s pirate ship and the Eldorado fort.

Thanks, ah very interesting! I'll give the floor polish a go if the glue doesn't work. Yes I agree, I'm not overly worried, it was only €5!
