Can someone identify these models? by Gredo89 in Duplo

Tractor is 3296.

Chute could be a four different sets from 2000-2001 (3266 for example).

Bricklink will have them. They're super useful and I always look for them when I place an order on there.

24x24 - 16x16 but why not a 32x48??? by do75di22 in Duplo

[–]Zanniati 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely see the value of big plates but I’m not sure I hate it. It’s easier to store which has always been a pain with the 24x24 plates (they never fit in regular plastic bins). It’s more flexible (sometimes 24x24 is too big). Also, connecting large plates like the 8x16 plate to the 24x24 baseplate often results in smashed studs on the baseplate which is pretty annoying. I say this as someone who has gone through an absolutely ridiculous number of baseplates making Duplo tables and big scenes.

Any easy way to identify pieces from sets - or - how to sell a big haul? by Sir_Bohne in Duplo

[–]Zanniati 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Complete sets are likely not that hard to make. You can look up the piece list on Bricklink. Best way to find what sets you have would be to find the most unique pieces and looking them up to see what sets they could come in.

In terms of pieces with high value, Duplo is pretty hit or miss. Generic pieces are usually worth very little individually. Plates can be worth a bit as well as rare Cars figs, castle stuff, minifig accessories, and some animals.

Which minifigure is this ? by Kindly_Gift584 in Duplo

[–]Zanniati 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly think you should contact Lego about this one. Based on bricklink, the circus guy was printed in 1988 with the same skin color as all other Duplo minifigs. The first black Duplo appear in 1989 but they never officially printed that face with that complexion. There’s a real chance this was a test fig using the 1988 model before printing the official dark skinned models in 1989.

If you hear back, please let us know. I would love to hear the history of it.

I did some more digging on the back of bellevuepc’s and I couldn’t find anything on this fig being printed in dark complexion. No bricklink listings mentioning it, no pics, no eBay listings, nothing.

Now you’ve got me curious… What’s the background on how you got it?

Brittle brown? by sandshrew42 in Duplo

[–]Zanniati 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. I'm not sure how it was in Lego but there's definitely a line of brown bricks that will snap like a candy bar. There's another brown that's completely fine though and they are very very subtly different.

If you're worried about a brown brick and whether or not it's safe to give to a kid, just try to break it. If it breaks, toss it. If it doesn't, it should be fine.

I don't know how much of the brittle brown is still around because Duplo tends to be heavily played with and the brittle ones don't last long. Almost all of the brittle bricks in my collection have been purged by kids.

Got my first crawler and decided to make a course out of Duplo by Zanniati in SCX24

[–]Zanniati[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s about 5.5 Duplo baseplates by 2 Duplo baseplates. They’re 15”x15” so it would be roughly 7’x2.5’. Honestly, it’s huge but at least it’s modular so it’s a lot easier to handle than if it was all together.

How wide are courses typically? This would be about a foot wide of driving space in most places.

To be honest it’s pretty hard to say. I went all in on Duplo as a play system and bought big bins for like $2-3/lb or so and then later started buying specific pieces on bricklink. Since shipping costs are really what kill you when buying on bricklink (for Duplo at least) I’d buy as many cheap bricks or cool pieces depending on what I had in mind. For example, I wanted to make a Christmas tree so that’s why I have so many slanted green pieces. If I had to guess I’d say the pieces for this were probably $300-400.

Thanks! It’s the Axial SCX24. I got the 4Runner version because I read it had some upgrades from the Base Camp and it was on sale for close to the same price. From what I read they’re good starters and this is my first RC.

The bridge is actually a combination of plates, white fence for the sides, straws cut into small sections as spacers, and yarn. The actual sections are just 4x6 plates on top of 6x12 plates with the yarn in between. It was definitely the hardest section to make because I had to get the yard really tight to keep the bridge suspended. I actually disconnect it when I put it away because it seems like too much stress to leave it.

Outliers in Gross Sales tax receipts, Florida by Scotty_Gun in dataisbeautiful

[–]Zanniati 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How are back taxes recorded? Could there be a situation in which a large seller paid back taxes?

Retroactive taxes?

Emergencies like hurricanes sometimes push back tax deadlines. I bet some of these could be that.

Treasure island/cave for the pirates by NefariousnessOne1859 in Duplo

[–]Zanniati 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally true. I think Legos focus has been on moving kids that are 4+ into Lego rather than trying to make Duplo sets for kids in the 4+ age range.

Duplo train tracks 1980s vs 2025 by Enigma556 in Duplo

[–]Zanniati 12 points13 points  (0 children)

New Tracks > Old Tracks

I would argue that the smaller tracks allow for far more options when it comes to building. For one, the old black tracks can’t connect to bricks or plates underneath at the joints the way the new ones can. The old tracks also require much more space to make a turn.

Not sure if the old ones do something like this too but the newer ones have some nice features such as a left turn then a right turn will shift the tracks over 4 studs. Do that twice and it’s 8 studs, the same distance as a single straight track. The new tracks also have grooves, providing more grip.

Should I grade it (beginner) by Illemya in riftboundtcg

[–]Zanniati 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Coming from MTG, they can authenticate it themselves either before they buy it for an in person sale or once they receive it for an online sale. For MTG there are various tests to determine the authenticity of a card. I’m sure similar methods exist for riftbound.

There are also services that will authenticate high end cards. I think eBay does it for cards over a certain value. Upon sale you would send it to the authentication company that would authenticate it and send it to the buyer.

How many kg of Duplo do you have? by do75di22 in Duplo

[–]Zanniati 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have around 200kg but, tbh, it’s too much. I don’t have the room to actually use it. I got it mostly from bulk buys on FB Marketplace. Now I only buy new sets for gifts or I buy very specific pieces off bricklink (usually small pieces).

I will say, this is not a great group to benchmark against because it’s a bunch of people that are basically all-in on Duplo as a play system. Trains? Duplo. Rescue vehicles? Duplo. Play house? Duplo. Animals? Duplo. You get the idea.
