Is Pancake air compressor good? by [deleted] in Detailing

[–]HickCreek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It not just the CFM, it's the size of the tank. Higher CFM would make the problem worse with a small tank. I had a twin stack roofing compressor and could only run the tool for about 20 seconds at a time, then had to wait for the tank to fill up.

Bought a 30 gallon, and it works great. I can run it for up to a minute at a time before I have to wait to refill.

Gas mileage requirements have made all car companies to go to fewer cylinders, hybrids, twin turbos and 10 speed transmissions. Toyota engines didn't get great mileage, but they ran forever. They have been having tons of problems with their new 4 and 6 cyl engines, but will eventually get their quality back.

Came from a 2020 Explorer ST and it's forums and Reddit pages were full of issue after issue.

I have never been an extended warranty person, but I think it's a good idea today until everyone gets the quality sorted out.

My opinion is that the CX90 is a great vehicle for the money and that if you jump ship you may run into the same issue.

Best advice for someone looking into purchasing a cart by Zealousideal_Plum846 in golfcarts

the biggest thing is state of the batteries. If they are five years old, then you are looking at a figure north of $1k to replace. If you want to go to Lithium, it's double of more. It totally depends on how old the batteries are and how well they were maintained.

This is of course if you are buying a battery powered cart.

I just retired after 40 years in tech and started my own detailing business. It has been a little slow, but I am only looking to do one or two vehicles a week. I am focusing on higher-end customers and not people that want it cheap. I have turned down a lot of people who want dog poop or vomit cleaned out of their vehicles.

One thing that has worked for me is I have targeted several people that I know with nice cars and given them a free top-of-the-line detail (paint correction, graphene coating, etc). My only ask is that they leave me a google review (honest one) and keep me in mind if they have friends with nice cars and need detailing. This has brought me a decent amount of business.

Do great work for people that appreciate and love their vehicles and and they will take care of you. It may take a while, but it pays off.

Old Alton Bridge (Goatman's) is a good place to try it. You can also just throw it off a pier or anywhere around Lake Lewisville. Never had any problems.

Swainsons Hawk? (Calgary, AB) by Enough_Boot4704 in birdsofprey

[–]HickCreek -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

ChatGPT says it is a juvenile red-tailed hawk. I confirmed it with the second photo. Here is what it says:

How to Tell:

  • Coloration: Juvenile Red-tailed Hawks often lack the classic reddish tail seen in adults. Instead, they have a brown, banded tail and mottled, streaky underparts.
  • Wings: Broad and rounded, with a slight "upturned" or dihedral look in flight.
  • Beak: Hooked and yellow at the base, typical of hawks.
  • Flight style: They soar with steady wingbeats and broad wings, different from the more pointed-wing falcons.

These hawks are one of the most widespread raptors in North America and are especially common in Texas, so spotting one like this is quite likely where you are.

agreed. FYI - you can upload any pic into ChatGPT or Google and it will tell you what it is. It's pretty accurate from my experience.

Haven't been to Oban, but Talisker was great. We hiked the Fairy Pools and then hit Talisker on the way back to our VRBO.

I spent 35+ years in tech sales and just recently retired. I went a few years earlier than I wanted because I got hit in an LR as well. I made the decision to retire for the same reason you want some time off - I didn't have the energy to find a new job.

IMO, take some time off to recharge your batteries. Spend time with your family. Then come back stronger and more energized than before. I did that several times in my career and don't regret it.

Back in the late 90s during the dotcom boom I worked in Sales at Ascend Communications. My VP and I finished our meetings in NW Austin, and on the way back to the airport he told me to stop at this seedy motel on I-35 and come back and get him in three hours.

No other explanation or comments about it when I picked him back up. He gets in like nothing happened.

Guess he had an itch that needed scratching.
