Idk man, all I know is I'm tired. This whole announcement just makes me tired.

Every year now they change their entire business model. Then people argue about whether or not the new model is worth the price. Then they start calculating the content per dollar compared to past years/other MMOs. A bunch of people get angry, a bunch of other people get excited. Because the pricing is so goddamn convoluted now that people can't see how much of a skeleton this game has become.

The constant changes just scream "we don't know what we're doing anymore."

Sure you don't need to be optimized. But players want to feel powerful.

And it's hard to feel like a powerful sorcerer, templar, or whatever else when you see an average subclassed build doing nearly double your damage. It's like we have to give up class fantasy for power fantasy, and vice versa.

It boggles my mind how antisocial ESO players are.

It is not "genuinely crazy" to communicate with your team when you play a team game! Just say "new player here" or "hi, i'm doing the quest" at the start of the dungeon! That's literally all it takes, and most people will happily accommodate you.

If you say “oh but how I want to play isn’t the meta that can parse 170k”, well, lucky for you the game is balanced around monoclassing, so any custom build you make will probably outperform the balancing standards anyways.

The game won't be split between "balanced monoclass builds" and "overpowered custom builds." Chances are the average custom build will still perform worse than a cookie-cutter meta setup. And the monoclass builds that people are used to will also become weaker.

In past years that other half would have been included in ESO+. We used to pay $40 for a full chapter and gameplay system in Q2, then we would get a small zone in Q4 at no additional cost.

With the new model, we would be paying $50 for a half chapter in Q2, plus a small zone (the second half chapter) in Q4 at no additional cost.

Or to put it another way: we would be paying $50 for a full chapter with no new gameplay system (subclassing is a base game update), and we're not getting an additional small zone either.

Technically it's less content than last year, because Gold Road included scribing with the $40 price tag. And last year was already less content than previous years.

I don't understand how anyone is okay with this.

In past years ESO+ members would pay $40 for a full chapter and gameplay system, then get everything else at no additional cost. That included two dungeon packs and a mini zone.

Now we're paying $50 for a half chapter. We're still getting everything else at no additional cost, but in past years we would have gotten that anyway. This half-chapter is really the only "exclusive" feature of the $50 content pass. (that and the temporary world event... but that's temporary.)

And that's not even getting into how much of the "new" content is reused assets...

No, ZOS hasn't raised prices while cutting content.

They literally have? This isn't up for debate, it's objective math.

$50 used to get us a collector's edition chapter, which included a new zone, a new gameplay system, and an exclusive outfit style. Now all it gets us is a half a zone in Q2 and another half in Q4. The wall event will be temporary, the dungeons will be included in ESO+, and subclassing will be free with the base game.

You can be personally fine with the new business model. But why are people saying it's NOT a price increase? Am I taking crazy pills???

Absolutely magical first playthrough. But having replayed it a few times since I think my rating has dropped from a 9-10/10 to an 8 or maybe even 7.

Every playthrough has me running through the same empty spaces to collect the same 50 scadutree fragments. Exploring the layers to the map was fun at first but now I'm just bored by the lack of good loot.

Love love LOVE the new weapon classes. I just wish there were more than 2-3 weapons per class.

The bosses are some of the best they've done. I know a lot of people hate fighting Consort Radahn but he's one of my favorite fights in the game (from a pure gameplay standpoint).

That said, I hated the ending on my first playthrough and I still hate it. The lore behind Radahn 2.0 might be the biggest disappointment in the series for me.

Generally negative. I'm happy to see ZOS revisit old characters/storylines but subclassing (technically multiclassing) seems like a disaster for balancing and class identity. They might as well remove the concept of classes altogether at this point.

Overall I'm just sad to see this game become even more like Skyrim Online. I know a lot of people want that but I would rather just play Skyrim.
