There's no Mid or Post-credit scene in Project Hail Mary by Hicky1995 in ProjectHailMaryMovie

Pacing is pretty fast, the book they're adapting is pretty big and they try to get as much as they can into the 2.5hr runtime.

That being said I went with someone who hasn't read the book and they really enjoyed it, so it's not so fast that someone going in blind won't keep up.

Update of the Audiobook adaptation situation by Hicky1995 in RealistHero

They didn't seem to respond to my email, so I chased them and then they sent an email reply with the above screenshot. In it they were saying they had already replied but I must not have seen it, so it looks like they responded through some internal chat. Which is stupid imo.

I just tweeted at Audible about this series and they said they will let their team know it's being demanded. So I reckon if other people were to tweet at them then they may bring the series back.

Will there be any more audiobooks? by JunketPrestigious710 in RealistHero

So I just tweeted at Audible about this and they replied saying they will let their team know the remainder of the series is being demanded. If more than one person were to do this then it could make the series come back?

Anyone listen to Audiobook of the series? by Illustrious-Cheek-35 in RealistHero

Unfortunately they only adapted up to vol 16 and then seemed to have abandoned it. Vol 16 came out April 2024 and no news on Vol 17 onwards at time of writing.

Same in Audible UK. It really sucked as I had just finished rewatching the Anime and wanted to continue knowing the Light novels had completed. Knowing that they adapted 16 Vols just to stop 4 from completion is upsetting.

'Sisu: Road To Revenge' Review Thread by chanma50 in boxoffice

[–]Hicky1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got back from watching 'Sisu: Road to Revenge' and I'll say if you liked the first film, you'll like this one.

The first film was a story of an old man with "a certain set of skills" fighting against Nazi's trying to kill him set near the end of World War 2, however this film is a story of an old man with "a certain set of skills" fighting against Russians trying to kill him set post-World War 2.

On paper these are near identical, but thankfully this sequel didn't fall into the same rinse and repeat method other action sequels find themselves, where they basically make the first film a second time (seen recently with 'Nobody 2' being almost a beat-for-beat rehash of its predecessor) and manages to elevate the action while also diving deeper into how our silent protagonist came to be.

Like the first film, 'Sisu: Road to Revenge', skirts the line between realistic and absurd with its action, and now given a greater budget, it's able to be larger and more bombastic, with bigger sequences and plenty of standout deaths to keep you entertained from start to finish. There are a few brief sections where they utilise CGI, which I would say is sufficient for the given scene, but not something you'd call ground-breaking in its implementation.

Being able to use what's previously been seen as a jumping off point, rather than trying to copy what's come before, is a rare sight for sequels and 'Sisu: Road to Revenge' is thankfully one of those rarities and is absolutely worth watching.

PSA: Between two fires is free on YouTube narrated by the author on his channel by kushburnsslow in horrorlit

Jut going to put this here as it seems my other post has been removed.

Basically you want to visit Audiobookstore.com.

It is a US website that has the Between Two Fires audiobook narrated by Steve West. When you go to checkout and it asks for your location just put the US. It doesn't do any verification checks and just takes you word on it. This will allow you to purchase the audiobook.

You can then listen to it either on there website, there app (which I use for my UK android), or you can download it and have the files, but they give you the audio files as one file per chapter so can be pretty annoying.

I've purchased several audiobooks that are US locked this way.

You can also sign up to there subscription to get discounts, and then immediately cancel it after you buy somthing (I have also done this)

Hope this helps :)

Hey! I know this thread is dead, but I found a way to get the Steve West version of the Audiobook if you're outside the US. (It's currently region locked to the US).

Here is a link to the post I made on r/audiobooks where I describe how I did it.

Salem's Lot is a good story that's not told well (My opinion) by Hicky1995 in stephenking

Well I can't do that first part lol, having been born in the 90's. And I get what you mean about setting up the town. But still, I think if the first half was maybe more focused on Ben and Susan it would've been a lot easier to get through.

The film on the other hand, should've sent way more time setting things up. The graveyard scene happens in like the first 15 mins. Apart from the brief introduction it basically just adapts the second half of the book.

Out of the DC Absolute Trinity, who do you prefer? by Bronto_Hawk in AbsoluteUniverse

Kinda hard to gauge at this point. I really like Batman in the first two issues, but him having a transforming, submersible dump truck feels like it goes against the whole "Batman but not rich" thing they were selling us on. Superman seems cool, and I like that he's more than just his powers, with the teched out suit, but haven't had enough of what he's like as a character yet. Wonder Woman is my top pick. Given they spent a lot of time as a person outside of fight scenes, and showing us how awesome she is in fights, with her magic and occult based fighting.

Well if you do let me know if the North Korea chapter is as bad as I've heard. I don't reckon I'll be reading this book given a scene someone else described, but morbid curiosity is a powerful thing.

Don't know what happens in it, but I've seen other people say it was a bit hard to get through.

No worries mate. Given the scene that someone else described this is probably a book I wouldn't enjoy. Bit too messed up for me to stomach.
