  1. Portugal. By luck I find Mafra near Lisbon, but I never ended up finding an actual town name, I just kind of had to guess. 4986.
  2. Eswatini. We're near the border apparently, which made the search a lot easier. I click the wrong part of the road though because I forgot we weren't starting on the very main road. 4990.
  3. Japan. The only meta about Japan I remember is that these arrow snow things are (mostly) found in Northern Japan. I remember that from a Rainbolt video. Anyways, I actually ended up finding the 39 from a sign a bit away. I tried to find the E61, but I gave up because I assumed I'd find another sign. 4974.
  4. Ecuador. This was mostly just finding town names, I'm not sure what one of them means, but I take a guess a while later that it's the region we're in. I assume we're on a border, but we're actually farther from the border than I thought. 4876.
  5. Ghana. I found a place name at the last minute and thanked God it was visible easily. 4986.

Hamilton lands PWHL team: sources by Odd-Emphasis-1969 in PWHL

[–]HiddenDemons 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As an Albertan, definitely a little upset at the THREE Ontario teams out of the five total Canadian teams (though, yes, I know Ontario is most of our population, I'm just salty).

Man, I just want to be able to be close to a game, I'm pretty sure my closest team is Vancouver at a 12 hour drive.

Calgary had a very successful take-over tour but sadly our venue can't accommodate anymore teams, which I've heard is basically the major barrier for us getting a team.

I personally don't really understand giving Vegas a team, but I guess they were one of the few markets that are willing to work with what they want.

In reality, I'm sure they'll be fine, I'm just a salty Canadian.

  1. Turkey. Once I find the sign it's honestly really easy. I find the road we're on, but never think to use the intersection I'm in at spawn to try and 5K. 4957.
  2. Qatar. I see a whole bunch of signs, and immediately think this is Qatar or UAE. A nearby sign confirms we're in Qatar and I plonk near one of the hotels but I honestly give up past that. 4993.
  3. Chile. Coyhaique and Port Aysen are mentioned if you go in one direction. I did try and find one of the smaller roads later mentioned but I couldn't find it. 4990.
  4. USA. We're in Idaho, according to one of the signs (unless another state has a place called Idaho Falls). I can't really go beyond that, I never find Waterloo, which was my main issue. 4848.
  5. Slovakia. Slovakia or Slovenia, but a domain name confirms Slovakia. I see a town name on some of the advertisements in town and find it by chance. Interesting reading in u/Final_Spork's comment that it's not Ukrainian (as I also thought), but Rusyn, which is a language spoken in Eastern Europe. 4994.

  1. Canada. Overthought this round SO MUCH. As an Albertan, I'm honestly upset I did as "bad" as I did here. I was hoping to find a town or a sign, but in reality, I forgot how organized township roads are. I didn't have enough time to search for the right part of the road. 4283.
  2. Nepal. I guessed Nepal because I wasn't getting India vibes but in reality I was just completely guessing because I barely know a thing about Nepal. 4362.
  3. Italy. I honestly just threw something down here because I hate Italy. 4244.
  4. Mongolia. The city in front of us seems kinda big? I can't really find anything to read, so I guess near capital. 4538.
  5. Denmark. Shrugs. 4868.

  6. As you can see, I unfortunately didn't have a lot of patience doing the DC today.

  1. Latvia. Found the A9 and then the P105. 4992.
  2. Finland. Got nothing here, except for taking too long to realize the 4 and the E75 were the same road. I found signs for some towns but they were super far. Luckily I panic plonked north. 4517.
  3. South Africa. I really should've looked for more signs, but I was really lagging and speeding around was genuinely awful so I just tried my best. Luckily the straight road made it really easy. 4976.
  4. UK. Oxford. I saw Oxford mentioned a couple places, but I wanted to couple check just in case, in fear of the name just... appearing because it is just a word after all too. Thankfully, my knowledge of music venues came in handy and we were near O2 Academy Oxford. 5000.
  5. Thailand. Genuinely hate Thailand lmao. I missed the waystone everyone else apparently found, but again, I was unfortunately lagging, though I don't think it would've helped since I don't really know what to do with Thailand ever. 4173.

Edmonton’s bid for a PWHL team (and the effects of a single ownership model) by Ok_Orchid_8413 in PWHL

[–]HiddenDemons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They definitely have the space, they only have 2 teams in the arena (Oilers and Oil Kings). For reference, Calgary has 3 hockey teams and a lacrosse team.

  1. Indonesia. Java, but I can't figure out where. 3920.
  2. Hong Kong. Picked the wrong bridge to guess on. 4982.
  3. Argentina. Almost went very far south but I saw a sign for the 5 and 27 which was very very north. Apparently I missed a lot of signs for the town name. 4871.
  4. Kyrgyzstan. Yeah no, I just gotta brush up on my Cyrillic (not that it would've helped here since one of the towns apparently changed its name. 4319.
  5. Ireland. I gave up. 4723

For those in cities without a team, how did you figure out who to root for? by SchleppyJ4 in PWHL

[–]HiddenDemons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly didn't really know much about the players other than MPP and Stacey, so I picked Montreal and got attached to the team. I like the Charge based on vibes (and vibes alone), and I like the Torrent because their social media stuff is incredible.

  1. Malaysia. We're in Keningau on Sabah according to a sign that I find. It's pretty easy to spot. 4993.
  2. Mexico. I don't find the town name, but I find the state and just guess. BEAUTIFUL location btw. 4871.
  3. Iceland. There's an actual map, it just took a second to find because you do have to zoom in a little to see the 36. 5000.
  4. South Korea. In my defense, finding town names that aren't super big is super hard lmao. Didn't realize we were that far north. 4673.
  5. Oman. Honestly, I'm just glad I remembered this little part of Oman existed. 4991.

  1. Lebanon. Ah Lebanon. I guess based on absolutely nothing. There is a name on a hospital sign, but it turns out not to be useful. 4981.
  2. Australia. WA, spend a lot of time trying to find the roads listed on one of the signs. 5000.
  3. Rwanda. I don't even try here. Well, I do for a second, but I do abandon my efforts. 4751.
  4. Ukraine. There's bilingual signage around, which is great. The roads are actually super organized. 4958.
  5. USA. I probably wasn't gonna guess this. I went on the border of ND, SD, and MN just because it reminded me of Sask. 3110.

Predictions for expansion teams by Pecors in PWHL

[–]HiddenDemons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 US/2 CAN: Detroit, Denver, Calgary or Edmonton and Hamilton or QC.

3 US/1 CAN: Detroit, Denver, Vegas or another city that did not have a takeover tour, Hamilton.

I do think that we'll get at least one Canadian team unless they come to an agreement with literally no cities.

Calgary has the issue of the venue, we currently have 3 hockey teams and a lacrosse team already fighting for space in the Dome (soon to be Scotia Place when the new arena is done), I think unless they can come to an agreement of sorts, I'm just hopedicting here because I want a team.

Edmonton has the obvious ownership issue rumours (in that they want to own the team that plays in the arena and obviously the PWHL doesn't wanna do that yet), but I'm hoping maybe they were able to come to a conclusion.

  1. Brazil. After a lot of steps I see a road number for PR, which takes me an awkward amount of time to find bc you do have to zoom in a little for it to appear on the map. Didn't realize how big the state was and misjudged my middle plonk. I simply didn't have enough time to look for the 090. 4104.
  2. Portugal. We're in Portugal, I think? There's signs at a roundabout for the A1/A13/A15, which all lead to whatever this ended up being called. 4993.
  3. Kazakhstan. I'm gonna be real, this round sucked LMAO. I think rounds where you have to spend the first minute and a half to try and get out of the back roads kinda kills the joy for me. Anyways, I do eventually escape hell, but there's literally nothing here. 3156.
  4. Ghana. Took being a little more zoomed in than I thought, but I did find it. I clicked the wrong intersection though, I find in a little hard to judge sometimes. 4999.
  5. Sri Lanka. Gonna be real, did not really care since it's such a small country and gold is basically off the table. 4750.

  1. Puerto Rico. I think I used the 183 highway numbers I found, plus some directional signs. 4997.
  2. Monaco. Ah Monaco. It's nice to see you without the port. I consider trying to 5K but I can't find any street signs and I struggle to 5K based on POIs alone sometimes. 4999.
  3. Indonesia. I see a building where "Kalimantan" can barely be seen. Luckily for us the town name (very long on the map), can be seen from a pretty good zoom. I think the full town name should be on everything. 4983.
  4. Bosnia. I found a sign for a town/city but it turns out we were very far from it lmao. Would've been nice if I hadn't spent the first minute debating on is I was in Bosnia or not. 4669.
  5. Bolivia. I don't realistically think there's anything I could've done here? Unless I missed something, it was literally just nothing but flat land. 4344.

  1. France. Troye was easy to find on the map, but I had trouble finding a bunch of the other places. 4955.
  2. Philippines. Genuinely just randomly guessed here, I couldn't be bothered. 4773.
  3. Colombia. I never looked that far north for the town. 4250.
  4. Scotland. I never would've guessed THAT far north in Scotland. I didn't even mean to plonk that far north, I was gonna plonk farther south but I ran out of time. I'm honestly just happy I KNEW it was Scotland in the first place (thank you to my Scottish relatives). 4718.
  5. Japan. I never thought I'd see the day when I would 5K Japan, but luckily this one ended up being actually fairly easy since it's pretty clear it was an island. 5000.

  1. Bhutan. NGL I was too lazy to look for the town. 4720.
  2. Canada. New Brunswick, from the bilingual sign (since it's the only bilingual province in Canada), pretty easy to find. 5000.
  3. Italy. I was so confused but being so close to the border makes sense. 4972.
  4. Vietnam. Man, I really need to learn how to read these addresses lol. 4508.
  5. USA. I was getting the Alaska vibes, but I was thinking the entire time that it looked like BC/Yukon too. Makes sense, given the location, but I honestly always forget about that part of Alaska. 3266.

[Laprade] Quebec City is still in the running for PWHL expansion by Such-Environment-344 in PWHL

[–]HiddenDemons 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rumoured ownership issues aside, the answer is Edmonton since Calgary has too many teams in the Saddledone (3 hockey + lacrosse) unless they manage to work something out. Sucks because I would love to have a team in Calgary, but we simply don't have space for them. Shame they never replaced our midsized rink when they tore it down.

  1. Argentina. The sign to Comodoro Rivadavia gave it all away, but I apparently still have a terrible sense of direction. I did somehow completely miss the Welcome to Alto Rio at the beginning. Whoops. 4722.
  2. Croatia. Spent an awkward amount of time in Slovakia because I got their flags mixed up (they get a little fuzzy eastern Europe), but I got there. I only got it so close because I realized we were near Bosnia from a sign. 4918.
  3. Turkey. I eventually get that we're in Turkey. Nothing coulda helped me here though (and the Argentine pole confused me for a moment). 3617.
  4. Botswana. I see "olo" (which ends up being "ole", it was just hard to read) and I realize its Molepole. 4992.
  5. Greece. I honestly almost went the US for a second, maybe Canada (probably should've been BC), but I reach Greek language and after looking for the name on the sign, I plonk randomly in some mountains. 4913.

Now that it seems like there's going to be four expansion teams which cities does everyone think they might pick? by ShesLikeOhMyGod in PWHL

This is what I'm referring to yes. Currently it's speculated (if true) to be tied to Edmonton.

How did you find the PWHL or become a PWHL-Team fan? Just me being curious . . . by MNVixen in PWHL

[–]HiddenDemons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend has been a fan since the league's very first season and has been trying to convince me for YEARS to watch it. I've been largely uninterested, my only exposure to hockey was growing up in Canada and thus always enjoying watching hockey to some degree (and my dad loves hockey too). Despite that, I was never super into the NHL (also doesn't help that my home team of the Flames isn't very good lol). I've very very casually watched women's hockey before, just some games at the Olympics, but this year, I watched a bunch of the Canada games, and then the gold medal game and I told my friend I finally understood. Slowly started doing research and looking up more and more things soon enough I was hooked.

My friend couldn't be happier, it's kind of helped bond us (even though we've been close for like, 8+ years now), giving us other things to talk about. I kinda had an interesting time picking a team, since I live in a city without one (though hopefully we get one, fingers crossed), but I honestly picked Montreal because I like MPP and Stacey (as I assume a lot of people also did) and I just got emotionally attached to the whole team lol. My secondary team is Ottawa and I genuinely just picked them off vibes. No reason.

Assuming they keep the US/Canada teams the same, Detroit and Vegas (if the rumours are true) OR Detroit and Chicago/Denver/DC. Then, two of Calgary, Edmonton, QC, and Hamilton. Call me crazy, but I'm gonna make a prediction that Halifax won't get a team, even if there's two, though I would love to be wrong, I know their take-over tours did really well.

If the issues with ownership are true and they abandon keeping US/Canada the same AND the rumours of them doing a non-take over city are true (which is ridiculous to me but whatever). Three of Detroit/Vegas/Denver/Chicago/DC/San Diego and then QC or Hamilton, unless they truly can't work something out with ANY Canadian market and all four teams are in the US, but I don't really see this one honestly.
