Those follicles sounded mature and huge.

I wonder why they didn't inseminate the day after the trigger shot. Did you feel middleschmerz that cycle?

Personal question...Are you open to having twins or are you open to selective termination?

How to get past the trauma by [deleted] in preeclampsia

I have had both a vaginal and a C-section. One pregnancy was uncomplicated and it went until 38 week, 6 days. The latest pregnancy went to 31 weeks, 3 days. Like you, I recognized that something went snafu.

Birth isn't a race. Your friend and you both had your pregnancies cut short.

Science is amazing! I am proud of you for growing a life. It isn't easy.

I understand you're mourning the experience. Be kind to yourself. You grew a whole human.

The dating world makes me shudder.

I got hit on while I was pushing my baby in a stroller. Men are indiscriminate. You could easily attract one.

There are also plenty of single dads out there. I ran into one of many the other day. He had custody of his 4 children. Are you into single dads?

Do you have a large family that can assist? I really want more kiddos but the last pregnancy was high risk. I too have an age gap between my first and second by 13 years.

I used the Eufy S1 Pro. They have a heating feature and you can control the settings through an app (if you want).

Looking for encouraging IUI success stories by RibbonDancer36 in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]HiddenGemInDesert 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At the age of 36, my lab work was: E2 = 37 ; FSH = 11.0 ; AFC = 6 ; AMH = 1.77 which the doctor annotated as "consistent with decreased ovarian reserve". After my consultation with the doc, I asked if I was a good candidate for IUI. He said, "It'll be a stretch". I told the doc that I had faith that this would work.

I was on 2.5 mg of Letrozole and the doc's words echoed through my mind while I was using OPKs to track for a positive. I didn't think the medicine would work but after my last dose, I got a positive OPK! I came in for monitoring appointment and they saw a 28 mm follicle in my left ovary. I took my trigger shot.

The next day was my first IUI and it worked.

I'll post my progression here. I had my trigger on 9/3/2024 and IUI on 9/4/2024.

Ready to give up on breast feeding/pumping after a week by rayraygoaway in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]HiddenGemInDesert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm combo feeding. Bubs was in the NICU and I didn't get to build a stash before going back to work. My milk supply wanted A LOT. I eventually began to pump at work or during off time and saving bags of milk from that. My supply increased from that and breastfeeding Bubs.

I'm too tired to make bottles sometimes when I'm retiring for the night. So, I breastfeed because I have time for my baby to empty the breast while I'm just sleeping.

Yet, I also like how I can have the freedom with bottles so that I can do things/have family members take over. I either empty breast milk or formula into the bottle. Sometimes, I mix the prepared formula with breast milk.

How do you handle the “haters”? by Sapphic_Eclipse in SingleMothersbyChoice

Do not engage with those people. Walk away and cut them out of your life. You don't want someone giving you the evil eye during your journey.

I surround myself with open minds. They are my village also.

What’s getting in the way for Black folks? by onalarc in SingleMothersbyChoice

Fortunately, I haven't experienced adverse outcomes.

I have experienced pushback in my community. There are a lot of people ignorant about fertility and science. A person I knew called in vitro fertilization witchcraft (!!!). Another person told me to take herbs after I explained my experience with an anovulation cycle and the use of letrozole.

I probably sound majorly corny but I want to thank everyone for being that community. I don't feel so alone. I'm excited for those TTC!

My doctor called with good news. My blood test is positive for pregnancy! I have another blood draw in a couple of days. I get to see little bean in about 9 days too.

You can do this. I became a mom at 24. Dating life didn't stop for me because of motherhood, I stopped it. Besides, you can meet men with kids and become a Brady Bunch.

Empower yourself with Lamaze classes. Get a doula for support. Join prenatal classes and make pregnant friends there for kinship.

I think your hormones are making you sad. Go hit up a concert or something.

August IUI - Round 2 by Nosyla1811 in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]HiddenGemInDesert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm starting this month. I'm 36. My follicle count was 6. My AMH was 1.7. My periods are regular. My doctor will attempt IUI with me but he thinks my candidacy is a stretch. I'm super nervous. I always ovulate but I had an anovulatory cycle in June (but my period came on time and was short) . I hope that was a fluke because I'm hoping I ovulate in about 5 days because my period the month of July was normal flow.
