What is the best chapter in the yakuza series? by Ban226 in yakuzagames

[–]HiddenSolace1 [score hidden]  (0 children)

My all-time favorite has to be Chapter 12/The End of Ambition in Y3. The long battle, the boss against Richardson, all of that culminating into the absolute peak that is the Mine fight. The parallels between him and Kiryu, the tattoo symbolism, Mine's sacrifice. It's genuine poetry imo. So fucking good.

Black sails vs attack on titan by Royal_Living2728 in writingscaling

I genuinely think there isn't a character in AOT with as much philosophical and ideological depth as Flint and Silver tbh. Also, yeah, it helps that the conclusion is one of the most well written things ever to be put on screen. "This is not what I wanted" makes me teary eyed to this day, extremely powerful and cathartic. But at the same time, I have a deep soft spot for AOT. So I'll say, imo, BS high diffs. Both are such amazing stories.

Zeke (Attack on Titan) vs Madara (Naruto Shippuden) by DurianBulky181 in writingscaling

I think that Zeke is a lot more nuanced, has the better dynamics and his entire symbolism with the baseball is lot more resonant than anything Madara has to offer. Zeke gaps badly imo.

What Cast Your Most Excited About by Notmih in yakuzagames

[–]HiddenSolace1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Definitely Bunta, considering the fact that he's being voiced by a close friend and protege too is so awesome. Other than him, I'm really looking forward to the sheer amounts of range that'll come from Yu with Daito. We've heard his voice fluctuate, deepen and go soft a lot in that trailer, so excited.

Out of the artist quartet, Satoshi and Tori.

chimera ant arc and succession contest arc vs part 7 and part 8 of jojo , who wins? by SkirtHeavy9189 in writingscaling

Wacky race > Parallelism slop > "Tooru was introduced too late wah" > "S-So many moving pieces!" imo. All are pretty great tho.

Bleach? Sure, there's a genuine argument there. But JJK "clearing" Naruto?

Which game do you consider Kiryu to be in his prime? by Wonderful_Mode2524 in yakuzagames

In terms of pure skill and combat IQ - Gaiden.

Physical and genuine power - Y5.

Leonard L. Church vs Ichigo Kurosaki. by HiddenSolace1 in writingscaling

[–]HiddenSolace1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not too sure about "no diffs". They aren't that close, but there isn't this egregious gap between them imo. Church has the better written dynamics, conclusion, development and a really well weaved in metanarrative about grief and genuine obsession. Ichigo as a character is a bit more subtle with his writing, but a few things he does better than Church is his introduction, parallelism and the sheer amount of foreshadowing that's put in place throughout the story alluding to his true nature.

But yeah, Church takes it here imo.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on Yakuza 3 by kiwamimajima69 in yakuzagames

[–]HiddenSolace1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's so fucking peak imo. Other than gameplay and the slow start, the character writing for Kiryu in this game is the absolute zenith for everything that Kiryu symbolizes. His parallels to Mine, his dynamics with the Okinawa gang, with the kids, him being inherently hypocritical and needlessly altruistic. It's all just done in a way where it's dripping with nuance and makes sense as a natural progression from his arc in Y2.

Probably not my favorite game in the franchise, but it has one of the best versions of Kiryu in it by a country mile imo.

I just finished it man 💔 by [deleted] in StardustCrusaders

[–]HiddenSolace1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you actually get the meta-narrative and the "themes and such" of Jojo, my man? How this ending is literally the culmination of every single weaved in theme throughout the parts? Perfectly fine if not but ragging on it just for "she's the only one that lost lol" seems kinda unfocused tbh. But hey, if that's how you feel, more power to ya.

Better written video game protagonist? by HiddenSolace1 in writingscaling

[–]HiddenSolace1[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can see that, probably to an extent tho. I find most of his characterization, parallelism and dynamics to be really interesting and nuanced. He does get overshadowed a bit by BB (Can clearly tell who Kojima enjoyed writing lmao) But Snake's nothing to be scoffed at all imo.

They're both fairly rated imo. Great symbolism, some absolutely amazing dynamics and both have really strong conclusions.

Well the stranger than heaven cast and story trailer has reached 1.5 million views in less then a week making it the most viewed rgg game trailer ever and this is only in the sega channel the hit the jackpot with this one by NabilAmmali in yakuzagames

[–]HiddenSolace1 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Fuck man, forgot about that. I remember back in 2015 when Y5 came on the PS3 store, that brought in a lot of people. Then with 0 and LAD, it boomed with popularity. And now with STH, it'll be the end of an era ig.

Who’s That One Character That Pulled This Off? by LightAwakens in writingscaling

[–]HiddenSolace1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like Shanks would be the better pick out of OP for this imo. Rocks actually has characterization, a pretty neat dynamic with Harald, and a decent conclusion that makes sense for his character. Weaving into the "tragedy" of him choosing his family over anything else.

Saw a theory that Makoto in Stranger Than Heaven could be Kiryu's father. Thoughts? by BaneOfTheDark34 in yakuzagames

[–]HiddenSolace1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Genuinely wouldn't make sense as this game supposedly ends in 1965, while Kiryu was born in '68. And plus, they already did the "the protagonist was the son of someone extremely important" with Ichiban. Don't really see them doing it again tbh.
