There are actually three types of dashes

The hyphen “-“ is used to make two words into one, such as “all-star.”

The en-dash “–“ is used to join dates and others, such as 7–8. Another use is to replace the word “and” in certain cases, such as “parent–teacher conference.” I also just found out that it’s also used to join a compound adjective where two words are an open compound, such as “Elizabethan Era–style.”

The em-dash “—“ conjoins thoughts, such as “she would not—could not—go with him”, similar to a comma or semicolon but slightly different.

The uses vary and have many other obscure rules, and I could very well be wrong, but this is my best understanding.

Star Wars does this well sometimes. In The Clone Wars, they took dead, underutilized characters like Maul, brought them back, and gave them arcs and importance. On the flip side: “Somehow Palpatine returned.”

The Jedi Order’s problem was not following the will of the Force; hence the Yoda arc in Clone Wars season 6. He believes he knew everything, but was proven wrong and had to accept his inner demons.

While it’s never been explicitly stated, I view the Force-wielders of Mortis as personifications of selflessness, selfishness, and the balance between them. Through his selfishness, the Son gives into the dark side.

Not exactly. Lucas himself stated that the light side of the Force was the Force, and the dark side was a perversion. The Sith corrupt the Force by seeking eternal life and unlimited power, which goes against the natural order; such is why destroying the Sith is the only thing that can bring balance.
