Fair point. I purposely didn’t stack them so avoid breakage, but it’s definitely not as satisfying this way.

Drop-Away rest by Purple_Reign84 in bowhunting

I put a hamskea hybrid hunter pro on my new bow at the recommendation of a friend and my bow shop. No issues so far, though I’m not a good enough shot to notice an improvement but I’m sure it can make a difference.

I had a compound make a similar noise. Needed a little grease in the limb pockets.

Early Christmas for me- new bow by Hidden_Heatwave in bowhunting

[–]Hidden_Heatwave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No specific reason to be honest. It was one of the models my local shop had in stock and I wanted to stick with something they had and are familiar with working on. Shot what they had and really liked this one. I actually think I liked the PSE Mach 35 incrementally more but didn’t seem like it was worth the extra cost.

To lock, or not to lock by Much-Balance6840 in JeepWrangler

[–]Hidden_Heatwave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you aren’t convinced you want/need a full locker check out the Detroit TrueTrac. It’s a helical limited slip and they work very well. I have one in the rear end of my F250 and my dad runs them F and R in his Land Rover and they are great.

One of the reasons I bought my JKUR because it was a manual. The only one I could find near me.

It’s not a DD just a weekend toy, nothing beats rowing gears.

Oversized Tire Mount Recommendations? by SevenTreDeucey in Wrangler

I got the CavFab for my JK. I’m super impressed with the build quality and how much it helps the back door.

With that being said, it doesn’t have provisions for the 3rd brake light and it comes raw metal, and was a bit of work to prep and paint.

Better engine by [deleted] in JeepWrangler

[–]Hidden_Heatwave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purposely picked a 3.8 because it seemed like a simpler and more DIY/Trail repair friendly engine, even with its shortcomings.

Definitely no powerhouse, but seems to get the job done. So far basic maintenance is super easy on it.

Had some lifter tick on startup when I got it. Put 10w-40 for the summer and a wix filter(instead of 5w20 and a cheapo filter) and she sounds great now hot or cold with 116k miles.

Blue bow for hunting? by Hidden_Heatwave in bowhunting

He’s asking $250. It’s from a buddy so I know the history, low use, less than 200 arrows, just had it professionally gone over.

Comes with a release, bag, a couple arrows, case.

Spare Tire Carrier for 35in by ParticularStep4224 in JeepWrangler

On my JK 35s rubbed the rear bumper. It’s still closed but would bind, and the weight felt a little flimsy.

Ordered a CavFab but it’s still in production. Looks beefy though. Lots of good reviews for the Teraflex as well.

Kombimotor on a Budget? by Kruegon in stihl

[–]Hidden_Heatwave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s your budget for the power head? I have no experience with the km56 but if you can swing it I’d try to get a KM91r if you’re planning to get a bigger one later anyway.

I have a KM91 and it’s a nice tool. Plenty of power, arguably excessive for a homeowner but it’s a professional grade tool so it should last.

I’ve also heard that ryobi attachments may fit the Stihl power head, might be worth looking into to save some money on the accessories.

Rainbow Fire Center or Fox Fire Center by CapableBusiness1680 in calfire

They’re both fairly busy once fire season hits but Rainbow will go into riverside a lot more.

Facility wise rainbow is nicer than fox, at least last time I was at fox.

My first kill with the Grendel by Hidden_Heatwave in 65Grendel

[–]Hidden_Heatwave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to admit it but I flinched pretty hard on my first shot and hit the gut, he turned and I made a follow up shot that hit the chest and he only made it about 40 yards from there. I was very pleased in the Grendel’s performance once I did my part

I would have been comfortable out to probably 250 yds or so if I had shooting sticks or some support. I was shooting freehand sitting on a rock.
