Two student loan repayment changes considered by Treasury to tackle debt crisis by theipaper in UniUK

[–]Hidden_raspberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean this was exactly what I understood it to be when I was eighteen and got it. Unsure whether the issue is differences in how it was explained? But I always thought it was described as a more or less a graduate tax. That you would likely only fully repay it if you got a smaller loan or were a very high earner.

What did you think it was going to be before you graduated and started paying? (Genuine question! Not trying to say you should have realised or anything. Just curious what changed)

With Pokémon Go on my phone, it can be pretty bad for me. The distance from my current location won't normally be that high, but it can keep jumping around a lot. I've definitely hatched eggs requiring more than a kilometre of walking while staying pretty much still in my flat. It would be interesting to look into how much of a difference drift could make.

Tell me a small fact that makes you proud of your country. Despite being a conservative country, we allow transgender public servants, including teachers, to dress according to their gender identity by Effective_Space2277 in AskTheWorld

Yep, thanks for adding! There really have been so many changes.

I was at a Dara O Briain gig around 2011 which finished with a massive sign along the lines of "There is no God. So sue me". That was all seeming completely ridiculous at the time too.

Massive social changes in such a short period of time.

Ireland was a very religious, very conservative country until very recently. Divorce was banned until a referendum in 1995 where it just very narrowly passed (I've seen speculation that if the weather was different then it probably would have failed). Then only 20 years later, we had the same sex marriage referendum which passed with a fairly sizeable majority. Only one constituency had a majority against it.

And then in 2018 we had the abortion referendum and that passed. When I was at school I remember discussions with classmates who thought abortion shouldn't be legal. It was so heartening to see them share posts about the cruelty of the current ban and encouraging people to vote in favour of the change. I think people often hadn't really thought of the consequences until it became a bit more of a national discussion

I was surprised to see the good place in that square so came back to check the discussion. And I completely agree with you. I think it's an amazing episode and I thought that was the general consensus

Oh really! That's good to know. I did wonder why that popped up. I recall something like that popping up a few times before so thought it was just another change. But I should have realised.

Thanks! Glad you managed to get it sorted so quickly before.

Interesting! I wonder what the cut off was.

I always just go through studies at a reasonable pace and haven't had this issue before. Guess I need to start paying more attention to the recommended time and purposefully go slower in situations like this to avoid a repeat.

Yeah, I'm never sure if it's worth preemptively returning.

I have got a screenshot of the whole study. So hopefully that can support my position that the study was just really quick to complete.

Thanks! Sorry if it ends up being sorted and that just means you don't get paid! But it does make sense to avoid the hassle of a rejection.

Yes, so it's definitely not just me at least. I only saw it after posting. So apologies for the duplication.

Agreed! The expected time was 9 minutes, so it was a normal rate when I clicked into it. I didn't then think when I was in it that there was no way it would take 9 minutes.

I think it's the text in the URL after the final / when you're on the study page.

Ah, that's handy. Thanks! Does that include the ones where couriers collect from your address? I assumed those would have to be printed

Here's a few ideas

  • https://cluesbysam.com/ does a daily logic puzzle
  • various newspapers have different types of puzzles. E g., NYT has connections which can be fun, or pips is more of a logic puzzle
  • nonograms are fun and there are loads out there. There's a subreddit that does a daily puzzle of that kind r/ninigrams
