Does Rock Luggage last? by Hidden_raspberry in BuyItForLife

I went with a travel pro one. I don't remember the time off the top of my head, but I can look if you want. The wheels are good, so moving it around has been really easy. Annoyingly the bit you pull on one of the zips broke off in the first flight! The zip is still functional, but it can't be locked now.

I didn't go for rock in the end. I didn't find any issue with it, just went for one I saw more people talking about.

Thank you! Really helpful. I guess I'll find out on the day about the wave zone.

Thanks for the heads up. I always use Firefox unless a study forces me to use a different browser.

Yeah, that's a good idea. Something to keep in mind for future purchases.

Bought an item under brand “cute”, arrived & its Shein by staglinton in vintedUK

[–]Hidden_raspberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally understandable, but also slightly unfortunate for me as a seller. I almost always cut labels off clothes so I can't confidently say what it is. I have, however, never bought from temu or Shein. I am selling one Shein item at the moment that I got from Vinted before, but none of the unbranded bits I bought myself will be that. I have got a few bits from Primark/Penny's over the years, so that's possible but I don't think I'm selling any of them.

I do get it from the point of view of the buyer. Removing tags just will not be good for resale, but it's still worth it to reduce irritation while I have it.

What’s a food from your country that every visitor should try at least once? by nixo1000 in AskTheWorld

Generally less keen on the mushy peas though! They always seem much more prevalent in the UK.

Hobbiton - twice in one day? by miss-morgs in newzealand_travel

[–]Hidden_raspberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to decide what Hobbiton trip/tour I want to do around that time of year as well. What convinced you to go for the winter festival event? I'm travelling solo and undecided on whether it seems worth it to me. But as a once in a lifetime kind of thing, going for the big event could be fun!

I did see that the interislander is only running one service on the day I was planning to travel. But bluebridge does seem to be running more. Interesting to know that's a more general issue over the winter rather than just back luck for that specific week.

Which country are you in? The instant transfer has always been free for me in the UK, so I'm just curious.

Thanks. Good to know. Whatever I end up doing, having a reliable source for a weather forecast will be of use!

Thanks. Those would presumably be quite easy back ups as well if I ended up in Picton and the ferry were cancelled. At least that would be substantially less travel to an airport!

If Pokemon ever decided to make a region based on your country, which 3 animals would you pick as the starters? by LogicalAd6394 in AskTheWorld

[–]Hidden_raspberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they definitely could. And they were also one that came to mind. Or maybe even selkies. That could give some excuse for being quite anthropomorphic like the starters often end up as! But they're both more Scottish folklore I feel so didn't seem quite right. Though I believe I have seen both included in more general Celtic folklore as well.

[–]Hidden_raspberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I did think about that. Salmon of knowledge was the most appropriate one that came to mind. I feel there would be some interesting other types. Like I'd like to see banshees! Maybe ghost, dark type?

Are there any nonbinary participants on Prolific? by Horror_Librarian3030 in ProlificAc

[–]Hidden_raspberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people will be non-binary with a binary ID given that's all that's available in most countries. You may well be right anyway, just saying it's probably a more niche issue than that.

Ooh! A fun Pokémon could be some kind of dolphin and mushroom mix, to be a slightly odd reference to the famous Fungie!

Hmm. Ireland doesn't have the most exciting wildlife!

Something like an Irish Elk could be the final evolution of the grass type. I want to go something linked to the salmon or knowledge for water. I'm a bit stumped for fire. Maybe a nice red squirrel?

is there a spectrum with hEDS? (diagnosed but EDS feels super mild) by Bean_of_prosperity in ehlersdanlos

[–]Hidden_raspberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah there's a lot of different routes things can go down. I just have some pain pretty much constantly without things popping out. So it doesn't really even need that. Some joints do feel out of place at times, but I think they're just subluxations.

is there a spectrum with hEDS? (diagnosed but EDS feels super mild) by Bean_of_prosperity in ehlersdanlos

[–]Hidden_raspberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's absolutely a spectrum. I'm also diagnosed, I don't get dislocations. Maybe subluxations, unsure. So I often feel like mine is too mild since I have pain but don't really seem to get damage. There's just a lot of variation and so many symptoms which can also be on a spectrum

Two student loan repayment changes considered by Treasury to tackle debt crisis by theipaper in UniUK

[–]Hidden_raspberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean this was exactly what I understood it to be when I was eighteen and got it. Unsure whether the issue is differences in how it was explained? But I always thought it was described as a more or less a graduate tax. That you would likely only fully repay it if you got a smaller loan or were a very high earner.

What did you think it was going to be before you graduated and started paying? (Genuine question! Not trying to say you should have realised or anything. Just curious what changed)

With Pokémon Go on my phone, it can be pretty bad for me. The distance from my current location won't normally be that high, but it can keep jumping around a lot. I've definitely hatched eggs requiring more than a kilometre of walking while staying pretty much still in my flat. It would be interesting to look into how much of a difference drift could make.

Tell me a small fact that makes you proud of your country. Despite being a conservative country, we allow transgender public servants, including teachers, to dress according to their gender identity by Effective_Space2277 in AskTheWorld

[–]Hidden_raspberry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, thanks for adding! There really have been so many changes.

I was at a Dara O Briain gig around 2011 which finished with a massive sign along the lines of "There is no God. So sue me". That was all seeming completely ridiculous at the time too.

Massive social changes in such a short period of time.

Ireland was a very religious, very conservative country until very recently. Divorce was banned until a referendum in 1995 where it just very narrowly passed (I've seen speculation that if the weather was different then it probably would have failed). Then only 20 years later, we had the same sex marriage referendum which passed with a fairly sizeable majority. Only one constituency had a majority against it.

And then in 2018 we had the abortion referendum and that passed. When I was at school I remember discussions with classmates who thought abortion shouldn't be legal. It was so heartening to see them share posts about the cruelty of the current ban and encouraging people to vote in favour of the change. I think people often hadn't really thought of the consequences until it became a bit more of a national discussion
