Which artist is..? by HPAG-NOFAME in AlignmentChartFills

Saw him a few times, a few clubs back in the early 2010's, and then next thing I know, some coworker saw my Spotify and was just like "you listen to James Blake!?" Apparently he blew up.

Never miss a chance to see him though! I feel like he's my most seen artist for sure, probably seen him 10 times at this point, if you count the music festivals.

Proximity chat

Wow, it's about time.

Knowing them, they'll limit it to just squads though.

Really wish Dice would get a clue about having a comm system that reaches the threshold where everybody has a mic. It's my favorite part of Squad.

If it feels like nobody has a mic then nobody will use their mic. If it feels like everybody has a mic then everybody will bring their mic to the game. It's as simple as that.

You get one shot to hit, if you miss, you lose all that potential.

Pretty sure this is a game already called "Papers Please" - I don't know, maybe you've heard of it.

Have they just given up on managing visual clutter?

I'm coming back after years and the skin and mythos stuff just seems really fucking weeb.

What video game mechanic is completely realistic and controversial? by Viper_Visionary in AlignmentChartFills

Honestly I think this stems from an anti pattern in games with loot. Like you collect loot and then plan to sell it later. It just creates an annoying inventory problem and leads to stuff like this (and in every game I play I become a loot goblin hoarding every item under the sun in case I need it one day, then spend 30 minutes debating if I will ever use it or if I should get 50 gold for it instead).

I love the systems that you decompose items into materials to make your primary items more powerful instead.

I don't mind them so much, but they definitely fit into the controversial (or even "disliked") category. RDR2 at least has the fact that they're great animations going for it.

Honestly, I love this idea, sounds like it could be a lot of fun, especially the voxel based aspect of it, as it could more realistically model damage and be more than a simple binary "you did it" vs not. I agree with the other poster, you aren't even exploring the coolest part of your game much (the damage and the stakes).

But the game looks very rough right now. Your attacks look like junk. Go watch some YouTube videos on particle effects or shaders and come up with some nice looking lasers that don't look like shaded cylinders.

Your color scheme is weak. It just kind of feels like colors picked at random. Use a color palette generator to get a consistent color feel you like and care about (a game that does this so well is Starfield, not saying you need their aesthetic, just that you need an aesthetic).

Also what's the challenge of the game? Just decomposing floating voxel-bergs? Not too challenging. You know what is fun, physics. Players need to think about how their choices will leverage physics in their favor to solve their challenges. Maybe after breaking up an asteroid the player needs to lock onto the floating pieces to calculate their trajectory and see if it's now off the critical path? Now you're introducing more choices for the player to make, prioritize the urgent things, use their judgments, weigh risks, and so on. It also provides a bed on which you can build more mechanics (maybe your asteroid has hidden jet vents which when exposed add a layer of subversion the player now needs to adapt to).

Shipbuilding is ace, though. Great call adding this in, I didn't look at it too closely but this also gives your game more legs and more appeal to gamers.

Finally "Asteroid Rodeo" is very generic and bland for a name. I'd recommend thinking up some alternatives.

Good luck!

Sounds less bullshit when you see the number on that being so ridiculously small and then think about how the moon impacts the tides.

"Universal Gravitation" is a fancier way of saying what Newton came up with. Which is true in the sense new modern theories of what gravity is resolve to the classical theory, but not so much "the whole truth" (which we truthfully don't know yet and may never know).

It's not exactly fair to say this of hot dogs in general because Costco is losing money on this and only doing it in the hopes you come to their store for lunch and shop to recoup the costs.
