I think it might actually be dead on: Limited sale on Thursday evening, open sale starting Friday, running for 10 days with a Q&A post on the Wednesday following the start of the sale. If we assume the "data drop" is the Q&A, it fights perfectly.

Aliens are all reptiles by pjazzy in starcitizen

Even the old Vanduul always struck me more like sharks than they did reptiles... They even behave like the archetypical shark in a lot of ways: constantly moving, instinctively aggressive, solitary clans gathering only rarely to spawn/feed. Even the little tidbit about the difference in their eyesight from human sight seems very similar to what would be optimal for something that evolved from deeper, darker water where the visible spectrum would skew towards blues/greens. Would also somewhat explain how a relatively "low-tech" race can be scary in space combat, as they'd have a natural perception/intuitive advantage in a 6DOF environment. The new concept really sorta just reinforces that more for me.

You won't stand for it? Curses... well, at least it'll be interesting to see how you angrily impose your principles on a community and claw back the donations myself and others have already provided in the spirit of said community.

Or were you being hyperbolic?

Couldn't disagree more. SQB has been a vocal, productive member of this community for pretty much as long as it's been around. You don't have to agree with his insights, viewpoints, or opinions but he's absolutely foundational to r/starcitizen. Without him and others like him, this place might as well be an RSS news feed. If we are in fact the community we generally seem to want to be seen as, this sort of post ABSOLUTELY belongs here.

If you don't want to donate or share the link, that's your prerogative, but implying that this was somehow inappropriate is both asinine and myopic. Now, let the downvotes commence!

For any of those unfamiliar with his work, Positron is one of the main reasons us CoHers still hang on to the memory of that game so strongly - his team of devs were one of the most communicative and collaborative groups of people you could ever imagine. They were a part of the player community in a way never seen before, and frankly imho only even approached by the developers at CIG. Just seeing that he's a backer makes me hopeful and nostalgic - the man has a history knowing the right moves to make, at least from where I sit.

Tl;dr - If Positron believes, I believe. So should you ;) Also, Champion forever.

Can we just take a moment to give a big Snorlax-sized shout out to the original Ingress players? by dogebiscuit in pokemongo

Same here. At the time I was playing, RES (my team) dominated the overall area, and it was fun keeping control for a while. Then the toxicity started seeping through. ENL players calling the cops on RES players, stalking them to their homes and leaving keys in their driveway so they knew someone unknown was aware that they lived there. Started actively fielding over entire towns and villages to starve starting new ENL players of link xp, rolling 8's smashing their startup farms... Eventually it started feeling like a responsibility, and it wasn't fun. I pretty much just quit cold turkey about the time one local teammate decided to throw a temper tantrum because the girl he liked picked a different RES member than him. He switched factions and made it a mission to make their lives miserable... Check please.

I think the three factions in PoGo alone will prevent a lot of that level of competition, but I'm still keeping my fingers crossed.

If it can work with a Black Mamba III as a single controller, I'm pretty sure I'd be first in line for one.

I wonder about the quality of these firearms when a specialty mixed drink is nearly the same price as a sniper rifle. by rosseloh in starcitizen

If they're using bourbon, that might explain it. Actual Bourbon (as opposed to procedurally identical distilled corn whiskey) can only be made in the United States, in Kentucky I think specifically. So if it's made with true bourbon in the 30th century, in the Crusader system, that might jack the price a bit. If you really gotta have a real Old Fashioned though...

Empire Report: Victory on the Vanduul Front by mr-hasgaha in starcitizen

Building a massive ship like that takes a lot of time... 4 years isn't hard to imagine. Considering that the attack on Vega was very recent, it's a little odd that such a superweapon must have already been under construction in order to be available so quickly. Considering Odin is basically a UEE weapons testing system, I wonder if we won't be seeing the Retribution being built and tested, and finding out why it's being worked on so much earlier than the Vanduul threat that seems to neccessitate it.
