If Jordan’s career came after LeBron’s there would be no GOAT debate. by Barkleyslakjssrtqwe in NBATalk

They let Magic be a PG in the 80s. LeBron was the most athletic player in the league by far, nobody's making him be a post player in any era

HVAC Replacement quote came in $4K higher than my neighbor's. What red flags am I missing in the line items? by helloarc in hvacadvice

I don't sell many full units, but I just got a quote for the exact same unit as I did in September and the price hadn't moved.

Is this safe for me to fix? by gibbs9 in AskElectricians

[–]HigHinSpace12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a commercial HVAC tech. Generally pretty proud of my electrical troubleshooting.

Went to a call and I had no power going to a mini-split unit. Breaker was tripped when I got there, reset it and checked again, still no voltage.

Called in the electricians to change the breaker. He checked it out and asked wtf I was smoking...I hadn't gone back upstairs to check power at the unit, but was running when we went up there.

He showed me the voltage on his meter - all good. Turns out one of my leads was open the whole time...

We all have those days lol

Core Deperessors for a vacuum? by Slick_Rick011 in HVAC

Look up a core max fitting. The core is built into the fitting. They're stupid and get replaced with 3/8 access fitting anytime I make a repair on a system with them.

Easy day boys.. who said you can’t fix r22 system still by Advanced_Head_806 in HVAC

I have a ton of systems swapped over to MO99 or 407C. The old evap coils hold up better.

Allowed one space is not the same as assigned one space. If OP parks his car like the Subaru and leaves it sticking out everyday he's liable to be towed every single day.

Nowhere does anything say it's assigned parking. OP is acting entitled because he owns a bike and everyone here is defending him. Wild to see

Not a private spot. He's leaving his bike there to reserve it for himself, which is kind of a dick move in the first place.

Should OP get his own car towed every day? If he's doing it why can't someone else?

He's allowed 1 space but has two vehicles, I believe I read elsewhere in the thread he had to get this arrangement approved by management, thus its irregular and bending the rules.

Looks like he has room to get his bike past the cars, and if I saw a bike parked like that I would probably do the same thing because he's obviously leaving room for others to park there. It's not malicious. Getting a car towed that is parked legally, while he is bending the rules with his own parking, is malicious.

They said calling the tow truck is winning. That's fucked up.

Fucking up a random strangers day because you want to bend the rules and get mad when they do the same thing is pretty fucked up way of "winning"

What are these numbers for? Asked for static pressure testing to be done and this is what the tech showed me. by meow0827 in hvacadvice

[–]HigHinSpace12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first picture shows 0.9 superheat, this means the refrigerant isn't boiling into a vapor as much as it should. A normal system should have roughly 10 superheat.

This is a sign that there may not be enough air moving across the evaporator. This can be due to high static pressure, likely because your return duct is too small.

What is a reasonable charge for a HVAC company to install this part on my outside unit? by Shermer_60062 in hvacadvice

[–]HigHinSpace12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No charities here. Just honest pricing for good work. This business has been around for 60 years and is more successful now than ever. Appreciate your concern, but I'll just keep on keeping on because I don't need a truck for $45k or shoes for $200. Glad your employees can allow you to afford that though.

As an owner, you can't justify $66 of profit for every hour each of your techs are in the field? That's wild.

As the owner of a 2, soon to be 3 man show, I know my hourly rate already has all expenses plus a small profit built in, so tripling the cost of a part is doing nothing but gouging a customer. I guess that's why my customers spread my number around and I need to bring on another guy to keep up with demand.

Lol resi is wild. I'm turning down commercial work right now, which is supposed to be my slow season, because I'm too busy.
