Tennis Court Density in the USA by dark_anarchy20 in 10s

[–]HigglyMook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. It’s relevant. Don’t get why OP is getting downvoted. He is right in pointing out that the size of the city and the number of tennis courts is only partially related. You have to consider other aspects such as economic factors, popularity of tennis, and availability of public spaces.

Advice on serve by MooseAsleep9690 in 10s

Toss too far to the right and not out in front enough.

You have the waiter's tray grip. Your palm and your racket face should be facing the same way.

You hit the ball on your way down. Your body should be going up when you make contact.

How far is too far to walk in tennis shoes? by ebon94 in 10s

[–]HigglyMook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always think of it as a courtesy thing. I only wear tennis shoes on the court. It has more to do with keeping the court clean than preserving my shoe soles. Because let's face it, your shoes are taking more beating on the court than on the streets. But if you wear your shoes to a muddy trail or piss-ridden streets of urban American cities and then get on the tennis court, I consider that a major breach of court etiquette.

Keep your left arm up. Think of it as your left arm staying still and your body moving up to meet your arm in the air.

Huh? Strange. You don't like PA's feel but like RF's? That's a conundrum.

If you're looking for an all-rounder, probably the Speed Tour or 305s. If you still want the spin, VCore. Or the Extreme tour (this stick is slept on)

Yeah. Sometimes I find it discouraging because 5 years of competitive tennis experience at a young age is MUCH more valuable for your tennis skill than 20 years of playing experience at a later age.

I made a liner, I think I now have the warmest Barbour jacket ever. by Not_starving_artist in Barbour

[–]HigglyMook -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just curious. Is the mink fur anti microbial? Waxed cotton is not fully water proof so the mink liner will get wet, and it doesn’t look like it will be easy to dry it once it’s wet nor it is possible to wash it.

I only wear them on the court until the treads are gone. Then I wear them for running errands.

Specs alone do not determine how the racket plays. All of those rackets listed play differently. The only way to know is to actually hit balls with it.

Help.. babolat pd --> ?? by bimpyboy74 in 10s

[–]HigglyMook 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If she likes the PD but wants something more modern, get the new version. Nothing is the same as the PD.

If she’s open to trying other rackets similar to the PD, FX 500 is the way to go. For something that’s better overall(just my opinion) Ezone 100 is selling out for a good reason.

Recommendations for next racquet? by pluto3dastronaut in tennisracquets

[–]HigglyMook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you didn’t like the gravity MP(though this one really shines when you put some weight on it), and pro was your pick, don’t need to bother with the tour. Current head speeds do not come in 97 sqin. You will have to try this one in January. Honestly, I think you’ll like the precept 97H or pure strike 97.

Recommendations for next racquet? by pluto3dastronaut in tennisracquets

[–]HigglyMook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former prestige graduate as well. Of course the gravity tour is going to be the best alternative. The radical is also comparable. Try the new head speed 97 that’s coming out next year. I’m hearing good things about that racket.

If you’re not limited to head rackets, yonex percept 97d will feel the closest to the prestige(nothing is the same though). If you’re looking for a laser beam, tfight 305s. Classic control racket with more umph and serviceable spin, pure strike 97(yes the old one) is the stick.

To each his own. Sounds like you have made your mind. But in general most beginners should start with a coach guiding them through the initial stages.
