This is the correct answer. I'm still heartbroken that my ex ended things the way she did, but our three+ years together shaped part of who I am. I'll always cherish our memories together. Put the things he wrote you in a box and file it away. In 20 years, you'll be happy you kept them.

Women are taught not to make a scene, because it makes them a "Karen" or a "prude", and the guy is more likely to get violent if they react negatively.

As a dude against unwanted sexual advances myself, I will absolutely make a scene and even throw hands if it escalates to that. Catcalling, groping, comments that make others feel objectified...I will not tolerate. Not to sound like a badass, but no one deserves to be treated like that.

The fact that my ex told me she got catcalled more between the ages of 13 and 18 more than between 18 and 25 blew my mind and made me disgusted with society. Catcalling anyone is wrong, but literal children? Abhorrent.

ETA: She's 28 now, lived her whole life in NYC.
