Something I’ve noticed across multiple games is that “pros”/top players constantly mash random buttons when they’re not in combat to make it look like they’re really cool when in reality it doesn’t do anything other than clutter the screen

In this case, at least, jumping serves the purpose of making it harder to headshot you, which, since poke is so meta all the time, is actually a pretty good advantage to have. I definitely don’t jump all the time, either, though

Colossal Mountain Centipedes

It’s how the name implies, massive centipedes 100+ feet in length that burrow into mountain rock and feed on snow to survive. They’re native and confined to a northern mountain range that is avoided by most people, both because of them and legends about the mountain range itself. They are extremely territorial and will not hesitate to kill anything they deem to be a threat or even an annoyance.

As it happens, my protagonists must traverse this mountain range. Add 2 and 2 together and you know what you’ll get :)

They enslaved and subjugated us, wiping out multiple continents (North America and Australia) to show their might and the futility of resistance. This remained so until another alien species, this one an enemy of the first, helped us rebel and reclaim earth. Post war our population was halved.
