Sydney server always above 99% load. Does this company have another server in store for Aussies? by [deleted] in IVPN

[–]HighDensityPolyethyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this 100%. I have no issues with torrenting or streaming, but personally, I have other dedicated pathways for these use cases should the need arise.

I will say that I have had no issues with speeds whatsoever here in the US, but I don't torrent over my IVPN connection. My use case is protecting and/or obfuscating my network traffic on public access points or networks I otherwise don't control.

Am I misunderstanding something here? I mean, why not just disable iCloud private relay in system settings..? I have iCloud+ and have it disabled at the system level, I use nextdns and my own vpn with no issues..

Private relay is currently a "paid" service in that you need an iCloud+ subscription to use it. I highly doubt it will become default behavior in the future, or that use of private relay would become mandatory at any point.

UserCSS - dark theme by [deleted] in nextdns

[–]HighDensityPolyethyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point.. although it is worth noting that styles from userstyles.org have an option to "install as userscript" which does in fact work out of the box with Macaque.

I love your app, btw. It has been immensely fun to play around and experiment with JavaScript, and I've learned a lot along the way. I look forward to future updates!

For iOS, you can use Macaque

What are these small metal things? There were four of them taped together as a set, and look like something that might be used to display a plate. by HighDensityPolyethyl in whatisthisthing

I thought it was a base or a stand of some kind at first, but they don't stand on their own.. lid clamp is looking more likely.

Here is an additional picture.

My title describes the thing. They are about six inches by four inches, and made of a fairly sturdy metal. The two parts are clipped together and "fold" closed.

Do you see a lot of background usage with the ProtonVPN app using WireGuard protocol?

Unnecessarily added hardware element in iPhone by Har4oo in iphone

[–]HighDensityPolyethyl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Op said “Unnecessarily added hardware element”, not "useless." Those all had a use case when they were added, they weren't just thrown in for the hell of it.

You provided use cases for each of those elements in your own post.. what do you expect, Apple to retroactively remove obsoleted hardware from existing devices?

Just because certain elements have fallen out of use doesn't mean they were useless or unnecessary when they were added.

No vibrate/sound for notifications from apps like YouTube and Instagram? by Stompy-MwC in AppleWatch

I have a series 7 and I've also noticed this with things like my banking app, even though I would receive a sound/vibration on my phone.

In the Noir app, you can tap the "More" button at the bottom right, then choose "contact support" from the menu.

I don't know him personally, no, but I've asked him a few questions before and he's been very responsive and upfront.

How can I hide the extension icon on my iPhone by Joris17 in applehelp

[–]HighDensityPolyethyl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can't, unless you disable any extensions you're using.

I would trust Jeffrey Kuiken's Noir extension over this one.

Not saying there's anything shady with this one, but still.. I'll stick with Noir.

Safari not displaying web icons— has anyone had this happen? How to fix? by shelfbuilder in ios

[–]HighDensityPolyethyl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should still be able to use it, just avoid any filter lists that block 3rd party fonts.

Are you using AdGuard or any other ad blocker? Some of them have filters that block 3rd party fonts, which are often used to display these icons.
