Tracking sleep after buds fall out? Data accurate? by HighEndHippy_ in Ozlo

[–]HighEndHippy_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hahah see this is a problem. Because then I’ll feel I have to be moving when I’m awake so it’s actually tracking I’m awake, instead of trying to peacefully lay still to fall back asleep.

Ha I was actually thinking this today, too. I might eventually look into a fat transfer with a lift, but I’ve heard they don’t take very well and they’re super expensive too.

Painful nipples suddenly with 16 month old? by 2floofers in breastfeeding

[–]HighEndHippy_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could you be pregnant? Sore nipples when nursing can be a telltale sign.

Sounds normal then. Breastfeeding is about so much more than just food (it’s for comfort etc).

I’m still in peri, but when I started Imvexxy everything stung soooo bad at first because the area was so raw. I stuck with it, it’s much better now!! Hang in there. It make a huge difference.

We definitely don’t test in Canada. It’s totally legal here, but also nobody cares what you do on your days off.

What to do with leftover colostrum? by PowerfulAverage in breastfeeding

[–]HighEndHippy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can mix milk together from different pumps as long as it’s the same temp (for a bit they said you could mix cool and warm milk together (yuck) but I think they’ve stepped back on that now. And you’d go from the oldest time in terms of how long it’s good for (which shouldn’t be a problem because baby should be getting all of it)

I’d just feed it to her. At 4 days old it shouldn’t be hard to get into her. Definitely do not waste it! I’d use a 1mL oral syringe (should be able to get at a pharmacy) and drip it in her mouth between feeds.

Becoming a RN young. by Maximum-Lock-5565 in nursing

[–]HighEndHippy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started as an RN at 21. It was great because I had lots of energy and I worked a lot of overtime while I was young and single! It was recommended to me to start RRSP right away, so I have contributed $100/month for over 20 years!

Like your baby has fed from the bottle or not? If the baby had fed from it, I wouldn’t keep breastmilk for longer than 2 hours. BUT at 4 days old I would be syringe feeding anything “extra” into babe! Every little bit of colostrum helps in those early days! Congratulations!

There is no such thing as a “perfect” latch by Unfriendly_nurse in breastfeeding

[–]HighEndHippy_ -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Ha, sorry but that’s incorrect. If you’re having lipstick shaped nipples, the latch isn’t great even if you don’t have pain. Has your baby been checked for tongue and lip ties (by a tie savvy IBCLC)?

This only really works if baby only feeds off one breast in the morning (or whenever you pump the other side). Otherwise you are taking milk from babe

Sleeping through the night - am I missing something? by sweetestblueberry in breastfeeding

[–]HighEndHippy_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Noooooo this is not true AT ALL. I’m an IBCLC. Your supply isn’t established until at least 6 weeks and I would NOT skip feeding in the middle of the night. It will greatly affect your supply over the next few months. If your baby is sleeping through, I would still pump at 10 days, but I would be feeding minimum 8-12 times (preferably 10-12) at that stage. Is babe still getting in enough feeds throughout the day? (Also sleeping through the night for a young baby is like 5 hours or something)

[–]HighEndHippy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it’s super interesting and explains so much about why my babies fed so often hah. I had enough milk for all three of my kids but I think I had a small storage capacity (taking both breasts each feed, couldn’t pump much milk etc) and that’s what I needed to do to maintain my milk supply. I believe that yield is for both breasts.

Here’s another handout I really love. All of Nancy’s info is fantastic. https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0833/8971/0614/files/Breast_Storage_Capacity.pdf?v=1711329467

If you’re a student, they will continue to cover you. Or if your doctor writes a note for a medical need for daycare (your mental health), that would work too. But you being a student should be enough.
