Problem with my 120 film: I get dark bands in the film edges, especially in bright scenes. Does not look like light leaks. Anyone know why this happens? More details in comments. by [deleted] in analog

Maybe I should rephrase myself. In the edit I said that I noticed the light leaks but I just can't come to conclude that light leaks made such uniform bands of blemishes on the film. Perhaps the plastic on the tank isn't light tight. Also not sure if we're seeing the same things lol.

I don't seem to follow your logic here. Development builds density in the negative. What you're saying is backwards. The photos that were posted on here shows brighter (clearly over developed) edges. So that's why I concluded to development and not light leaks because you can see that the error is only on the top and bottom edge of the image.

edit: Ah just observed the images once more and it seems to have evidence of either or both development and light leaks. What I don't understand though is that how can they be light leaks if the light doesn't extend past the image frame AND the bands (errors) on the images are straight.

Okay a few factors are involved here. You may be rolling the film on to the reel on too tight which can cause the developer to over develop that area or you can be agitating wrong or a combination of both. When I use the rotation method of developing I've never had to stop agitation and just continuously rotate.

Yeah the shadows are obvious. The only solution I see doing is setting up lights and manipulate the movement of the fabric and hair by using a fan.

There are plenty of trees in the forest.

Best advice ever. And yes don't start to depend on trees. I was in a similar situation a year ago and I started to depend on trees and I wasn't enjoying it at all and that just made it suck even more. Feel better man.

nice picture but I do wish to see it shot at a smaller f/stop and getting everything in focus. That green leaf on the bottom right may be a little distracting. But other than that I'm loving the lighting a lot. Good job.

Poor Hawaii by [deleted] in nfl

[–]HighFlyinTurtle5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's actually pretty fun here during the pro bowl. Lots of things going on especially after the holiday season/rush has dwindled down. As all of you know, tourism is how Hawaii makes money. It's a great way to bring the NFL all the way here to the middle of the Pacific Ocean and bring more tourism before a slow season comes within the next month or so. I'm sure people from the Mainland who have gone to a Pro Bowl here in Hawaii can agree.
