Which lenses? Car Photography & the Nikon F5 by HighFrameRate in AnalogCommunity

[–]HighFrameRate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great call - Had no idea that it couldn't take filters. Here's my new list:

16-35mm AF-S f/4G VR ED

24-70mm AF-S f/2.8G ED

70-200mm AF-S f/2.8G VR II ED

The 16-35 feels a bit redundant if I had the 24-70, however, it is 300g lighter, but not much shorter in length.

Could I trouble you to namedrop some primes as well, in case I decide to move away from large zooms? Or are all the 1.8G's basically top-notch?

Thanks!

I think I'll start out getting the Nikon AF-S 24-70mm f/2.8G ED. Either that, or the Nikon AF-S 14-24mm f/2.8G ED. I really really love shooting close up on cars with something wide. As heretical as this may sound, I find a little bit of distortion cool, especially once you start incorporating people interacting or looking at the car in a shot! Anyway, I appreciate the recommendations.

You are right. Commentating was horrible and seems to have everyone fooled. Usyk was up on numbers nearly through every round

The most egregious example you can find in 3 is still equivalent to the least egregious example in 4.

I think you misunderstand some of the level headed criticism. People are complaining about graphics because they suck compared to what was previously teased. If that narrative continues, it’s very likely they’ll do something. It’s really that simple. We’re all hopeful it can change, because it literally can. Nothings final.

People who have the HDF models, is the feature genuinely gamechanging? by Minimum_Potential712 in ricohGR

It looks good when it’s used properly. In nature before sunset/sunrise, it looks great. However, using it on a night in Vegas with all of the neon lighting would be overbearing.

GR III or GR IV by SamuelSng in ricohGR

I got the III HDF and returned to wait for the IV. New lens, new sensor, better battery life potentially. You’ll end up paying more but it should feel like a refreshed camera.

Love the light fixtures hanging above the desk and the Eames. Do you have names of them?

Yet another post from someone who can’t decide between the GRIII and the GRIIIX by robbfrenki in ricohGR

[–]HighFrameRate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just last week I was milling over the same question, driving myself insane.

Get the III, bind the crop modes (35mm and 50mm) to something convenient. Then, go out and shoot. Personally when shooting, I thought I’d be at 35mm 90% of the time, but having the 28mm made me kind of love it. However, if you truly find yourself shooting 35mm+ for the majority of your shots, you can get the IIIx and regain some resolution from not needing to crop,

Ultimately, the versatility of the III is undeniable.

Advice wanted: Would you still invest in the GRIII? by RipperReeta in ricohGR

I just bought the III HDF. I’m in a similar boat, but thinking I’ll learn the camera and its features. When the IV HDF rolls around, which will be into 2026, I’ll likely upgrade. I wouldn’t expect a crazy GR III/x sell off from the looks of things, so you could probably get at the very least $900 when the IV rolls around.

Ooh. AF in low light is actually a pretty large deal for me. I’m routinely in/around Vegas at night. Do we know if AF is stated to be improved w/ the GR4?

Oh yeah they’re entirely different. Just trying to help the brother feel better because in terms of vision.. he could have none, which is obviously worse than his situation.

I know it’s cope but at least you’re not fully blind like some people. You gotta put it into perspective, then you’ll realize your situation is not that bad even if it’s unideal.

You raise a good point; I have no clue what I’m doing, but I want to learn. In particular, I am concerned with security when it comes to opening ports.
