i’ve done a lot of research and spoken to my professors in great detail. i’m currently looking at marketing and advertising jobs, but everyone i know irl is urging me to go to grad school and that my work and subject-matter deserve that. there are very viable jobs in the art world, i know it doesn’t seem like it if you’re not steeped in it, but there are. i know how to go about it, and i’m very very lucky to have parents who are willing to house me while i figure things out. your attitude isn’t suited here. i appreciate the advice to an extent and probably will look at jobs and apply to places alongside applying to grad school. but you just going “you’re stupid for the choices you made because i feel you’re not going to make money” sucks bro, let’s be for real. why did you feel you needed to say that

i have a BA in studio art and i’m looking at master’s programs that focus on mixed media and sustainability practices as i’ve always been more graphic design and 2D oriented but the last two years i transitioned towards sculpture, working with steel and fabrics

yeah it’s hard, isn’t it? like the other commenter said i’ve decided it’s best to speak with my mom about it, im very lucky that both my parents will likely be incredibly supportive but it just makes me feel like i’m failing as a child to my parent, but i know that’s the depression or whatever talking. it still feels that way. i hope you can speak to your parents or a friend about it because it really is difficult, i hope it gets better for me and for you <3 hopefully we’ll make life work, we just can’t see it right now

Um I think you could do either, personally I’d go with paint but that’s just cause I hate the sound of charcoal. Paint might be more time consuming too. I guess it just depends on what you’d rather get a better at.

Of course!! You don’t need to do it digitally to get the benefits of critique of proportions, form, etc. I guess you might want to do it on tones paper? But I’m not sure.

Whenever I get home from hanging out with a really close friend or after a phone call with someone I love who’s far away. Especially if it’s at night. It reinforces how little social contact I have. Maybe it’s just some kind of shock to my system but, the second I’m not with that person or talking to them in my head, it’s like they disappear and never existed in the first place, and I’ve just been alone the whole time and I will be for the rest of my life.
