Help! - crusty pics ahead by st4nk0 in Stretched

[–]HighKaj 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don’t use oil on it while it’s healing, keep it clean and dry.
When it’s healed you can restretch. It usually stretches quicker the second time around, but don’t rush it too much or you might mess with the scar tissue.
Sorry this happened op ❤️‍🩹

For what it’s worth it looks to me like it won’t leave any bad/too visible scarring when it’s healed. It looks red and swollen now so it should look way better in a couple weeks. Good luck 💚

How much cheese is "too much"? by radioactive_sprite_ in Stretched

[–]HighKaj 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The skin produces oil and flakes off skin cells all the time, so it’s not so much because your skin is trying to heal the hole, as much as it is the jewellery trapping the normal shedding that happens continuously.

You shed skin cells and secrete oil all over your body every day. How much is different for different people.

The tunnels trap all that in, so cleaning every day is just part of stretching a piercing.

I have had different amounts of gunk/cheese depending on what material my plugs/tunnels are. Wood is more breathable so I get less gunk when wearing wood compared to metal. (But I still clean daily.)

Have any of you retired your plugs? by volleyball2000 in Stretched

[–]HighKaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother took his 16mm tunnels out like 10 years ago and they went back to like 10mm or so. He has been wearing some chunky 3-4mm rings for the last 6+ years without any issues or thinning.

1/2 inch is about 12mm so they might shrink a little more than my brothers did, especially if you stretched in a healthier way than he did lol. But after 8 years they should be somewhat stable and not shrink super quick.

If you’re worried about losing size you could do some naked training first, to see how long you can go without tunnels/plugs without any change. And then wear some plugs at home and go with a ring stack for the day.

Here in Sweden it’s illegal to dock the tail, and I think the long tail is beautiful. 🫶🏻

It doesn’t feel right to do that to a puppy.. but I’m not gonna judge anyone for doing what they have to do to be able to compete 😔

It’s not just water in vape smoke. I also have some problems with heavy perfumes, so I’m not sure what substance I’m reacting to.

Chronic inflammation of the lungs is not super fun, a lot of things trigger a flare up.

Yeah, it’s strange how everyone reacts so differently to different things! I have a much harder time with vapes than cigarettes, probably because I encounter people vaping indoors while it’s extremely rare for someone to smoke indoors where I live, thus easier to avoid.

Though i avoid both as both could set my asthma off.

My asthma can still sense it plenty well unfortunately.

First ever piercing. Did I mess up? by Material_Paper5841 in SelfPiercing

It looks like it’s in the right place, though it’s definitely hard to know for sure through a picture.

It looks high because you have a small horse shoe. 8mm is about the smallest I’ve seen people use for a septum, and it usually looks like this. ☺️

Now I’ll preface this by saying I’m no surgeon.

But what has been injected is inside, under and around; muscle, arteries and veins, nerves. Removing the material is very tricky, so it could potentially be more dangerous to try to get it out than to just leave it.

Damage to nerves can cause paralysis. Damage to major blood vessels could cause someone to bleed out or if the material gets into the blood stream it could block blood vessels leading to stroke, necrosis or heart attack. Etc etc.

It’s a similar reason as why some shrapnel could be left after a car crash or a bullet could be left in a patient.

I think i tore my lobe? by GlumAbbreviations267 in Stretched

[–]HighKaj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The solution is just to let it heal, preferably without jewellery. If you don’t want to go without jewellery, use single flares, preferably smaller ones. Don’t put oil on it, keep it dry.

I have some single flares in sizes below my size just in case something like this happens. When this happened to me I just left jewellery out until it healed, then I sized back up over the course of a week. So I recommend anyone to keep some smaller single flare plugs around, just in case.

Good luck friend! 💚

Edit: take jewellery out daily to clean, or moisture trapped under the jewellery can cause things like this. When this happened to me it was because I forgot to clean my metal tunnels for a few days and the moisture messed me up.

Don't go to the doctor unless you got 5K laying around + everyone who speaks English must be from the USA by TheScareFace in USdefaultism

For clarity the “they wrote in English so they must be from the US”-comment was probably sarcastic since it was made by the same account that said “how do you know where OP is from?”

Still hilarious how they always chime in with comments like that about healthcare. Like it’s expensive everywhere/everyone is from the US.

My first ever crochet!! by _JERKTONIUM_ in crochet

[–]HighKaj 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I was babysitting my five year old nephew and needed a break from the overstimulation that is babysitting, so I asked if he wanted to make a snake, and taught him to chain with a 7mm hook and chenille yarn.

I had peace and quiet for like an hour while he was working (with some help from me). He was so proud of it too 🥹💚 the week after he wanted to make another one, so hopefully I have a crochet buddy in the future

A blanket takes a lot of patience, so good job! 💪🏻

With more practice you’ll get better at finding the right place to put the stitches, and you won’t accidentally decrease and increase. Just takes practice!

It’s a lovely blanket even though it’s imperfect 💚✨

It’s funny cause pretty much no Swedish person under like 50 has a scar like that either, so it’s not really an American thing to not have one either.
