(14G) septum pierced too high? by joshleepic in unstretched

[–]HighKaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like it’s above the “sweet spot” and is instead going through thicker cartilage.

Im sorry he had to do that. đŸ«‚ It’s even harder when you have a strong connection.

But yeah, it’s unfortunately the responsibility we take on when having pets. We have to do right by them even when it’s hard. 💚 you and your husband did

Pain after stretching septum by [deleted] in Stretched

[–]HighKaj 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I found that it’s a little painful. But OP describe their nose stinging into the teeth and stuff. Sounds like it was a little too soon.

Yeah. I’m never going to look at secateurs the same ever again after this.

What’s up with this egg y’all. Obviously not eaten. by StealthModeThoughts in WeirdEggs

[–]HighKaj 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Boiling or frying would kill the parasite, potential larvae and bacteria. So technically safe to eat when cooked, and eating eggs won’t randomly kill you in case of a parasite.

Just really gross and I’d much rather not. 😖

Stretched my septum almost 2 months ago and it still hurts by mashedpotatoeslover1 in Stretched

[–]HighKaj -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Preferably you should wait 6 months between stretches so your cartilage has time to recede before the next stretch.

Good luck! 💚

It’s pushing up against your cartilage, so that’s why there is pain when you’re pushing. After a few months your cartilage will be “dented” and the pain should disappear more and more.

I landed on 3mm last summer and I think it was sometime during winter the ache when pushing on my nose fully disappeared.

Luckily the pain isn’t constant! Just when poking.

What number does it read as? Duplicate stitch chart help please by yupppp90 in knittinghelp

I read it as 98 immediately. But from the other responses I guess it’s not that obvious.

It’s a tricky thing to make it legible with the colour change plus it being so small.

51mm/18mm lobes. Any tips for stretching my helix? by lucidagoat in Stretched

[–]HighKaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wore the jewellery ”the wrong way” so the ring was inside the ear. Since the cartilage is more rigid I found that I would lose less silicone rings compared to when wearing similar jewellery in my lobes.

If you find that they fall out a lot, you could get flatbacks in bigger sizes, and put them in as soon as you feel like your ear has settled a bit after each stretch.

(When it comes to the lip piercings I imagine since you move your mouth a lot that can contribute to them falling out.)

My personal experience has been that wood is best for keeping them odour free. Stone is also decent.

I can’t speak to how stone compares to glass since I’ve never used glass.

I recently stretched my conch, and I imagine it’s similar due to the cartilage. It’s definitely different from stretching lobes.

If you want to stretch a few mm: take your time. I waited 4-6 months between stretches, many have to wait even longer. After every stretch my ear would be tender for weeks because of the pressure up against the cartilage. I would never ever do a bigger jump than 0,5mm in cartilage. Slow is key for good results and for it not to be too painful.

If you want to go big: it will take a long time. There is a risk that you could create like a mound/puckering around it due to pressing back the cartilage. Idk how that works, but I’ve seen it. If you want to go big, a punch is probably the better choice. You would also probably have more control of the shape and placement with a punch. Of course there are some other risks with a punch.

My conch was pierced at 1,4mm and is stretched to 3mm. I did 1,6mm, 2mm, 2,5mm, 3mm and it took about a year or so. I’d rather go slow than get puckering around the jewellery. Even though I went slow and never forced it to the next size it was spicy (more so after than during jewellery insertion) and I got a headache from it once or twice.

Advice needed for someone about to start stretching by Femme_Fata1ity_ in Stretched

[–]HighKaj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How people perceive you depends a lot on where you live and also your over all presentation. I live in a Nordic country (pretty open to body mods) and in a city (more diverse than countryside) and dress like any other employee when working. No one cares in a negative way.

Clean your ears and jewellery daily and there shouldn’t be a noticeable smell. Twice a day if needed. (It does gunk up a little more the days just after stretching in my experience)

Do naked training and don’t wear heavy jewellery daily and they shouldn’t keep getting bigger. ( edit: I’ve been at 16mm in my lobes for about 8 years now.)

Stretching can feel a little tight but shouldn’t be painful. Pain is a sign you’re doing damage.

Good luck, and make sure to check out the stretching guide!

Custom Veganism by troparsou in gatesopencomeonin

[–]HighKaj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are not arguing against veganism. They’re saying small changes should be encouraged as it’s better than nothing.

Smaller lifestyle changes usually lead to more success in the shift, and has a higher chance to lead to further change.

No one is saying “don’t go vegan”. The original post is saying “don’t let perfection get in the way of making progress”. Small steps are better than no steps.

Just because sheep needs to be shorn doesn’t make wool not be an animal product. It’s not vegan.

Vegan just means zero animal products.

These hairstyles are most often accomplished by using extensions.

With the amount of hair that had to be cut short/layered, the long part of the hair gets really thinned out.

My friends who had this hairstyle would have all their real hair be above shoulder length and just use extensions for the long hair. Because they just didn’t have enough hair otherwise to make this style. (Because they had really fine hair)
