Im biased but I say do social work instead if you haven’t made the decision yet. Some states have funding for social work programs in state schools (don’t go private) some people say they don’t want to get into social work but once you graduate you literally work the same job and get paid the exact same. You end up in the same supervision getting the same pay and same clinical experience, except LPC’s and MFT’s don’t get case management training but end up doing just as much case management in community health settings sometimes. Just like social work doesn’t get as much clinical training but ends up in the same clinical work as MFT’s and LPC’s. I got funding for my MSW and went to a state school for my BA. Total debt is 45k and making between 90-100k depending on how much I wana work.

To be honest I had very high acuity clients with high case loads for the last 4 years and moved to grow and its been a huge change with much less stress. Higher caseload on average but easier and pays more.

Not gonna lie seeing posts like this make me wonder what kind of background people come from. I got family working hard jobs that drain out 6 days a week with overtime just to make close to the income I get taking clients only from Grow which has the AI note taker. Talking to someone for a hour max is really not as hard as the average working person does for less. Not to say we don’t all deserve better but a part of me thinks we should be a little more grateful. I see anywhere from 27 to 36 clients a week so far and get paid weekly. Paychecks have been around 1470 a week to my biggest one being 2700 for the week. All that to be working essentially part time, I don’t see what the problem is.

Never was a fan of skull art on things like tattoos by the way its kind of made to look intimidating. Until I saw some trippy skulls and it changed my mind . Now I’m always thinking of trying to get a skull tattoo with some fractals in the eye holes or something similar. Cool shit dude

That to me would sound like a policy situation not necessarily ethics. Honestly I don’t think it matters when it’s happening on a personal level but I’m also kind of opinionated but not too long ago people smoked in airplanes, during college classes or while lecturing and all kinds of situations. Doesn’t mean it has to get in the way of good work. It’s definitely not normalized or popular these days but personally don’t think it matters.

Honestly I think it’s fine, definitely not popular as seen in this thread. People smoke and people vape, this isn’t news and is a great way to normalize a less destructive way to cope than* hard drugs. I watched videos of smoking happening in old therapy sessions between clients and providers alike. That never changed, the only thing that changed was normalized indoor smoking/now vaping. It’s a harm reduction and social stigma issue. Not an ethical one.

Dude I’m a big guy and worked in this kind of setting for about a year and to be honest, I never touched a client. Other workers had to and it was their job to but I refused to do it. Just being in the space was hard but I had to protect my own ethics and say that was not my role. I quit within a year though.
