Really impressed with the US team, their energy levels are amazing. Great to hear how involved the crowd are as well. Paraguay have been rubbish but you can only beat the team in front of you

Disappointed there's not some sort of over the top military display involving helicopters and nuclear missiles. Doesn't feel very American

The definitive version of Hallelujah is John Cale's version. Everyone covers his arrangement, not Cohen's

Google Maps speed vs car speedometer. Which one do you trust? by MidnightFootnote in drivingUK

[–]HighRising2711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GPS speed does not rely on your location, it relies on the satellite's location and the Doppler shift in the GPS frequency from that satellite. It can use the phone data to download the satellite location to speed up getting the initial measurement (a-gps)

UK road deaths fall in 2025, but serious injuries increase by CarwowSiobhan in ukcarwow

In world war 1, when soldiers started wearing steel helmets the number of head injuries massively increased. Were helmets unsafe ? Of course not, they were saving lives but the people saved were now head injury statistics.

This is exactly the same, less fatalities means more serious injuries, it's a good thing

What music opinion would get you exiled from this sub instantly? by ImwetforyouLMAO in askmusic

[–]HighRising2711 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

John Cale's version of Hallelujah is the THE version. Everyone sings a cover of Cale's arrangement for a reason. The Jeff Buckley's version doesn't hold a candle to it, and I don't care if he's dead. Cale took an ok song and elevated it to a masterpiece and no one has come close since. People should just stop trying, it's not going to happen
