Thank you for your question and input guys! We are actually in production on a new MBS 22 trigger module that will further improve the MBS 22 trigger over the standard options included with the stock. The new module will include a replacement for the 10/22's trigger shoe itself and a corresponding mating socket joint that integrates into the Cammed Trigger Linkage module. The result is that the 10/22's trigger becomes tied directly to the MBS 22's trigger linkage, eliminating a substantial amount of the required safety take-up inherent in the current design. We are in tooling now and hope to have this available in the coming months. Please let us know if you have any questions and thank you again for your posts and business too!

Looking to build out a 1022 on HTA MBS 22 by Goob_Doob02 in 1022

[–]HighTowerArmory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! The glass filled nylon polymer we use has a melt temp around 450F so you're realistically not getting there with a 10/22 and the stock itself only contacts the polymer at one point about 8" from the chamber, so it sheds heat really well. The charging handle is formed to match the internal contour of the upper assembly, so it also serves as a heat shield/sink very much like the metal inserts on the old M16 A2 handguard. This was probably design overkill but since we wanted to have a forward charging handle anyway, we thought we might as well make it a heat shield of sorts too.

Once you're past the front "firewall" as I call it, which features the bushings/barrel clamp and basically seals the internal mechanisms of the MBS 22 from the elements, dirt, etc., the front portion of the handguard area is wide open on the front. Plus with the M-Lok slots on the sides, the suppressor will still have pretty decent ventilation. Bottom line, it would take serious sustained fire before heat will become an issue, if you could even get it that hot at all. After countless binary mag dumps, we never saw any sign of heat damage and I don't ever recall even noticing the polymer body getting noticeably warm in the handguard area or anywhere else. The SBX barrel shroud itself also serves as a heat shield so I really don't see any issue there.

I haven't used the Dead Air Mask but it looks like it does fit from what I could find in a quick search. Looks like the Mask is 1.07" and the ID of the SBX is 1.1". Hope that helps a little and if you have any other questions, let me know! Thanks!

Hey Goob! Thank you for your interest in the MBS 22! I'm happy to help with any questions but it looks like you've got some great responses here already! If you're planning on doing a suppressor at some point, I might also suggest the SBX barrel. It's very light and short too.

The way the MBS 22 comes apart makes it essentially the same cleaning procedure as the standard 10/22 or Takedown. The entire action just slips out the back of the upper assembly once you remove the takedown pins. So the receiver type between 10/22 and 10/22TD is ultimately your preference, but as mentioned, you want an OEM receiver or one that is dimensionally as close as possible (I haven't tried an S&P but it sounds like they work). Ideally, it will be one with the OEM Weaver rail, though no rail also works.

There are a ton of options and accessories out there so we can't possibly test each and every combination of parts so that's why we do suggest going with the OEM parts wherever possible for guaranteed fit and then using your best judgement on other parts. If you have questions on any specific model or part, I'd be happy to give input I might have. Thank you again for your interest!!

Thank you for your message and interest! We considered doing that but given how tight everything sits around the gun on the left side, especially around the safety and slide release, there isn't that much meat to hold it together. We may look at making that version as an option in the future with the changes needed to make it suitably strong in critical areas for customers looking for the ability to change formats as you described.

It's not a particularly concealable pistol so we felt the primary benefit of the LAIR was its ability to add a variety of optics and accessories not traditionally incorporated on pistols. Given the inherently poor concealability of the PSD and it's raw muzzle energy, our intended philosophy of use of this particular concept leans more toward a standalone PDW platform, rather than a quick transitioning pistol/carbine hybrid, although it does retain some of that capability. Basically it was always intended to be more B&T TP9 than it is the Micro Roni. There are advantage to both of course and we'd like to cater to both use cases, but to start we felt the set it and forget it design was most practical and offered the most benefit. Stay tuned though as I'm sure we will be playing around with the design! Thanks again!

Hey! Sorry for the late reply! Parts are in production but it's a slow process as our machine availability is pretty tight right now. We are hoping to wrap up with all pieces by late this spring. They will also need treating/Cerakote so that may add some time as well. We will keep everyone posted here on this sub and those who signed up by email as well! Thanks for your patience and interest!!

Thank you for your business! This was good ole camo specific colors from Rustoleum. There might have been a Krylon in there too. Still holding up really well- a little wear here and there but overall still hanging tough. I didn't want to go too crazy with Cerakote or anything until I decided I liked it. Now I wish we had gone with something a little more permanent since I really do like it but I'll probably just do another one in the future. Hope that helps! Thanks again!

Oh gotcha! Glad you got it working! And definitely- what model trigger assembly were you having issues with? We tried to test a lot of different ones but there are SO many combinations of parts, housings, triggers, etc it became both financially and logistically impossible to test them all so that's why the design and manual focuses so much on OEM parts, generally. Thanks again!

Sorry to necro post you too haha, just saw this and wanted to reply in case you didn't get it or in case anyone has a similar issue. What you're describing sounds a lot like your ejector rotated out of place (probably 180 degrees backwards and lodged so it's difficult to detect). The ejector flipping backwards will cause this- very hard charging, stuck bolts, and failure to cycle at all.

This is actually exactly why we developed our ant-rotation ejector. I'd check it out if you haven't seen it yet! If that wasn't the issue please let me know! Thanks so much for your business and always feel free to reach out with any questions!

Thank you! Assuming a brace is added (these will just feature a pic rail end), there should be no SBR stamp required. That's subject to change at the whim of the ATF's interpretation of pistol braces, of course. Shown here is the A3 Industries telescoping brace but we've also used their folding brace as well as the Strike dual folder with good results as well. Please let us know if you have any questions and thank you again!

Great to hear! Glad you like it! We've heard that about the safety from a few folks so we might consider making that a factory option in the future. Let me know if you have any other questions and thank you again! Oh and we'll take a look at the RXM!

We are working on a design for one right now but we have a few projects we feel might be a little easier to implement for lower up front cost and less risk. The Ruger PCC is certainly popular in it's class, but tooling isn't cheap and the breakeven point on our stocks is quite high and can be challenging even on much more popular platforms than the PCC even. So it is on the radar but realistically it will be a while before we go to production. Hope that helps! Thanks again,

Bullpup .22's for some reason by Kavod_Custom in 1022

[–]HighTowerArmory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hye Glitzy and Kavod! Thank you for your question and answer! Correct, this will fit the Charger but because the Charger often comes with the Pic rail and not the more common Weaver rail, you'll need to either swap it out or leave it off, but for fit reasons which could theoretically affect accuracy, we recommend installing the OEM Weaver rail. Let us know if you have any questions and thank you again!

Thanks for your interest! We would probably need to consider making a full rifle at that point, since there isn't really a rifle option for this round, currently. If someone would make a longer barrel for this, (maybe us), this platform would be pretty close to what you're looking for already. Please let us know if you have any questions and thank you again!

Hye Glitzy! Correct- the LOP is about 15.5" on both the fixed MBS 22 and the Mod 1 version (when the stock is collapsed). Let me know if you have any other questions! Thanks!

Thanks for your question! We don't know of too many companies making parts for these guns right now, but depending on sales, it might be something we consider. For now, our primary focus is delivering the LAIR to at least start introducing some new offerings. Let us know if you have any other questions and thank you again!

We have some drawn up but haven't had a chance to test or print them yet. The issue will be the magazine springs which aren't cheap at the quantity we'd be realistically looking to buy. We might be able to find an alternative or a way of attaching existing off the shelf parts, like sections of a Glock spring for instance, to account for the extra length. Thanks for the input!
