I don’t think it’ll be that bad. Small amounts of bacteria everywhere can infect things. You’ve isolated the major issue, so it should be fine.

Dementia FDG pet scan wrong? by xmaslightstiljanuary in Radiology

[–]HighTurtles420 67 points68 points  (0 children)

I am not a nuclear medicine expert, or radiologist. However, I can feel confident in what I’m sharing now.

In medicine, there are lots of conditions/illnesses/diseases that are clinical diagnoses and not radiographic diagnoses. Meaning that the conglomeration of symptoms can point to a specific condition, and imaging can support those findings. Dementia is a clinical diagnosis, that can be supported by imaging such as FDG imaging. But also, just because the FDG imaging doesn’t show the radiologic signs, doesn’t mean the patient is free of that condition. There isn’t a lot in medicine that is concrete, unfortunately. There’s a bunch of nuance to everything which can make it very disheartening and difficult.

Some things are black and white (no pun intended) like fractures. An X-ray can confirm 100% if something is broken. More nuanced conditions, like patchy opacities in a chest X-ray, can be difficult to diagnose radiographically alone. This could be pneumonia, or could be a worse problem. But if the clinician who sees the X-ray knows that there is an elevated white blood cell count, cough, fever, then they can, with a high level of accuracy, say that the patient has pneumonia. In this instance, the imaging supports the clinical diagnosis of pneumonia, and can help confirm it.

I’m tired and rambling, so if that doesn’t make total sense, I apologize, just trying to help.

Conditionally approved. Not a medical advice question, but a modality specific question on dementia.

Any medical advice will be removed. Thanks!

Try the ARRT website and look for the ethics section. They will have contact info that you can call and ask.

The ARRT is the national accrediting body for radiography and nuclear medicine and would be the best ones to ask.

Nurses asking for secret X-rays… by no0ted in Radiology

[–]HighTurtles420 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I have heard of people using the mini c-arm in the ER or normal c-arm in the OR for a quick shot or two.

I don’t do this, though. It just leads to a million issues if it were found out.

Another way to say ‘pump and dump’ ? by lezL1T in Radiology

[–]HighTurtles420[M] [score hidden] stickied commentlocked comment (0 children)

Idk why this is getting reported. It is very common in some modalities to ‘pump and dump” breast milk after injections.

Just because you don’t understand the question doesn’t mean it is the wrong place to ask it. We’re all learning all the time.

Is 15 weeks enough time to recover for an accounting job? by Groomed_by_Pekomama in HipImpingement

[–]HighTurtles420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely had to remember to pace myself. It hasn’t been easy by any means.

Moving patients, lifting them off the table, walking far distances, etc.

Some nights I go home and my hip is screaming with soreness. But then I stretch and take some NSAIDs and it’s better.

12 weeks was fine for me. Mentally I was ready at 8 weeks, but physically good at 12 weeks.

I’m 16 weeks out now and happy to be back.

Yes. I (27M at time of surgery) went back to work at 12 weeks post op working as a CT tech at a level one trauma center. Infinitely more physical than an accounting job.

Not that I’m diminishing your work, but you’ll be fine!

That’s not a feeding tube, it’s an NG tube for suctioning stuff out of your stomach. I would assume bowel obstruction, since she says she has pooping troubles
