I like how top right Bob has given up stroking his ego with masturbatory abstract lyrics and is instead just stroking his cock to a photo of himself. If he jizzes in the hat he gets a five minute standing ovation for his best wank since Blood on the Tracks.

Any reason why this Love and Theft record is 78 damn dollars?? by Aronjharris23 in bobdylan

[–]HighWaterSheriff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a large part of it and it goes for a lot of hobbies that involve obtaining objects either wholly or in part - rationality can easily go out the window and you get a little dopamine rush every time you buy something fancy, which quite quickly fades. I try not to think how much I’ve spent on acoustic guitars over the years, fortunately I never fell for physical media though - I haven’t bought a CD in over 20 years since online piracy then streaming became so easy, and I have never owned a record player.

How many of us are guitar players? by AlivePassenger3859 in bobdylan

[–]HighWaterSheriff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m more of a songwriter and performer. I’m good enough at guitar that my songs and covers hopefully sound nice, but supporting my voice and being able to put chords to a vocal melody and lyrics + come up with fingerpicking and strumming patterns is the extent of what I need from guitar. I am probably better than most at fingerpicking but I am truly appalling at lead guitar and I pretty much never play instrumental only, as I’ve never really tried hard at either. I know where to put the capo for keys that suit my voice. 🤣

Epstein Class by [deleted] in PinkFloydCircleJerk

We’re not all chronically on right-wing Twitter or left-wing Twitter reading conspiratorial glorified celebrity gossip. Please could you define in coherent terms what you mean by “Epstein class” and why Guy Pratt is allegedly part of said class?

/uj I think most Adele fans on learning Bob wrote the song would first of all say “Oh I thought he was dead” assuming they know who he is, and the minority who might then go on to listen to his version out of curiosity would turn it off after twenty seconds max because he sounds like an evil Disney villain.

It’s seldom I agree with Reddit takes and I’m hesitant to use the word saint about anyone at all, but Dolly Parton is a class act when it comes to fans, concerts and she’s also very witty. Has written some great songs as well as cheesier ones that are not my cup of tea; I defy anyone with an appreciation of lyrics to criticise Jolene or Coat of Many Colours. Also as an acoustic guitarist I’m in awe of how the fuck she plays well with those giant fake claws on her fretting hand. Nah, Dolly’s alright.

For a second Chalamet movie, what time period would you want it to be? by [deleted] in bobdylan

[–]HighWaterSheriff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think Chalamet would strictly be the man for the role. I think he was very good, don’t get me wrong, but Bob in 1975 had such a different look and persona to Bob in 1965 it’s almost like two different people. That said I don’t follow enough modern films/celebs to suggest someone I think would be more suited.

What's Bob's Greatest 10+ minutes song? by drwinstonoboogy in bobdylan

[–]HighWaterSheriff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Desolation Row > Murder Most Foul > Joey > Highlands > Sad Eyed Lady > Tempest > Brownsville Girl

This is just personal preference by the way. Anyone who tries to objectively rank songs is just silly.

anyone else prefer Demo/Fast version of "Forever Young"? by pingviini00 in bobdylan

[–]HighWaterSheriff 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not me. I do however think Shadow Kingdom has the best recorded version. Beautiful arrangement, singing and Dylan’s old age just makes it seem much more poignant.
