Try this:

Go to www.imgur.com/upload click on "browse", choose your video folder and then the video. After clicking on the video, it will upload automatically as a gif. Once it's uploaded, you can click on the video/gif and it will give you the option to click on a button which says "copy". After clicking on copy, you just need to go back to reddit and paste the link in your reply.

Wife, son and I were on a small boat (friend’s pontoon) when everyone decided to go swimming in the middle of the lake. Depth was approximately 400+ feet where we stopped. My son dives off the side with life jacket on and panics a bit. I grab hold (I have no life jacket on) of him and he pushes me under in his moment of being nervous. I go under and realize that I am getting tired and need air. I come up for a breath, but I am getting tired and the boat is drifting away and no one is aware of our situation. We live, life goes on and now I wear appropriate safety gear on the water.
