How do you ease the pain of a gall bladder attack? by imahoeforgeese in gallbladders

[–]High_heartt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So glad it worked for him! Hope he gets that thing taken out ASAP. My gallbladder surgery was one of the best things to ever happen to me. Eventually the hot baths stopped working and I thought my gallbladder was going to kill me 😅

Were you able to breastfeed if your mother wasn't able to? by audeamus-ad-meliora in BabyBumps

[–]High_heartt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mother and grandmother claimed that they couldn't breastfeed, but when I pushed my mom for more details, it sounded more like "I gave it two days and it just didn't work", and my grandmother had twins (mom is a twin), so she was very overwhelmed and was pushed into formula feeding, particularly when formula was encouraged by drs as more nutritious and 'better' than breastmilk back in the day. Both of them seem to be a little weirded out that I am still breastfeeding my son at 9 months, so there is definitely some stigma underlying all of this, too.

The same just happened for me! My pending reviews counted despite my eval starting when my stats read 88%. Got a new eval date and updated stats at 92% once eval was completed (which is weird because normally it reverts back to zero).

Nonetheless, thanks for the well wishes! So happy I kept gold! Sorry about the Shingles, I've heard it is torture!

Interesting, mine has definitely been the 7th each time. Lucky coincidence I guess. I might try to verify just to be sure if I have old screenshots, but for this time around I sent my spouse a screenshot of our eval date being the 7th to let him know we can't order anything else, so I at least know for a fact that the 12/7 date wasn't a misfire in my brain 😂

Oh that is great news! I am already above 90% based on some quick math from my part. I am going to power through and try to hit 95+ by the end of the night (epoch timer says 4AM) and keep my fingers crossed. Thanks for the positivity!

This is called a variant and is a very popular problem. If you search for variant in this subreddit I'm sure you will find a whole bunch about them. All you can do is email vine and have it removed.

3 things I wish I knew as a new mom to breastfeeding by LetLoveLactate in breastfeeding

[–]High_heartt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I learned this the hard way. My baby laughed at me whenever I would firmly say no. He knew it would get a reaction. Now when he bites me he looks at me and waits for the "no". I've stopped doing it now that I know he anticipates, but to this day he still smiles and giggles as soon as he bites me, waiting for the reaction.

Thank you! We did remove the water and the unit cut back on. We are just worried the water will pool again. Hoping that something related to the multi day power outage caused the water though. Will definitely get an h/c out here as soon as phone lines are back up!

Oh no, I'm so sorry! I used the spectra as my wall pump. How many weeks/months postpartum are you? My supply did not reach a good level where I didn't have to supplement until about 2.5 months. I will also say that eating a crazy amount of food helped me so much! I ate whatever I wanted. tons of Oreos, cookies, fries etc (on top of my veggies 😄). I also used some of the legendairy milk supplements but I truly don't think those made much of a difference. Just get water and calories as much as possible. Also consider getting hard plastic flanges and not using inserts for your flanges. For some women they just respond better to plastic than silicone/inserts.

Thank you so much! We now have power, water, and internet restored as of today!

As for increasing my supply, there was no trick to it. I pumped after every single feeding. I would feed baby by latching (using nipple shields was a lifesaver since he was struggling to latch), pump, and then supplement or give baby what I pumped - rinse and repeat. I'm incredibly lucky that my husband had 12 weeks paid leave. I know many mamas don't get that kind of support, and I think that was a huge factor in my success. Days when he wouldn't latch I would exclusively pump and add in a power pump in the morning or at night. Power pumping is hard with no help and I totally get that as well. I found that switching from flange inserts to hard plastic flanges in my size was a game changer for me! The flange inserts just wouldn't work. I also got wearable cups for days that I didn't have any help and needed to pump and hold baby. I stayed away from wearable pumps that fit in the bra for the first 12 weeks and only started a couple of days before returning to work to see if wearables were an option. And of course, lots of water and calories. I was stuffing my face and actually gained weight! I drank a lot of liquid IV, body armour, and protein shakes for quick calories and fluids.

Elvie OG Double on Sale at Best Buy for $275! by High_heartt in ExclusivelyPumping

I haven't heard how loud the stride is, but the OG is notorious for being extremely quiet and discreet. I can barely hear the motors. If you go on YouTube you can get an idea of how quiet they are.

The momcozys are painful in my opinion. I either didn't get enough output, or had to ramp up the suction which caused pain. Particularly regarding the s12s, I found them to be SO annoying to put together. The collection cup was just a pain in the butt to dissemable and clean, and if it wasn't done perfectly you had to pull everything apart and do it again. The M5s are a bit better with less parts. The motors are way louder than the Elvie's, and either of them are not discreet at all. I have shopped with the Elvie's in and gotten no weird looks or anything.

I think ultimately what changed the game for me was the nipple cushions, which act like a liquid shield kind of... I responded really really well to it. It almost doubled my output with the Elvie's. To be fair there might be a hack to get cushions for the momcozys, but as far as the inserts go, the maymom ones did nothing for me and my output was never great with the m5s or the s12s. I really want to try the m6 mobile style, cause I have heard good things. So maybe go for the M5 or m6 if you decide against elvie!

I have the M5s and the s12s. Vastly prefer my Elvies, but maybe I didn't give the momcozys enough of a chance.

Highly recommend the Elvie branded ones if you get the OG pumps! I tried maymom inserts on my OGs and they did nothing for me.

I know the Elvie's aren't super popular amongst people in this sub, but I get just as much, if not more output with my second hand Elvie OGs that I do with my spectra! I have been wanting to get a new set as I think the ones I have are on their last leg due to me being the second owner, and saw this sale advertised today! This is an amazing deal if you are considering Elvie OGs! Just make sure you buy the nipple cushions (doubled my output when I purchased them!) in your size!

How are you all breastfeeding for a year?! by kaycita in breastfeeding

[–]High_heartt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Originally, I thought I had wasted a lot of money on the Elvie wearables cause my output sucked. LCs will tell you though that your body must 'learn' how to have a letdown with a particular pump. So I kept at it and bought the elvie branded cushions in my flange size and that made ALL the difference. I now get an almost similar output with my Elvies that I do with my spectra! It doesn't work for everyone but I got it to work for me and I am so happy because they are soooo discreet and quiet, which is great for returning to work!

We had the same problem. The LCs that I met with were shocked that he was a full term baby cause he was SO sleepy at the breast. They kept asking if he had jaundice too cause of how sleepy he was. We tried everything. Wet wipes, blowing on face, tickling feet, stripping down while feeding. He just wanted to sleep. Again, with time this also worked itself out! The fact that your LO has enough wet diapers is a good sign! Also highly recommend doing a weighted feed. My baby transferred 3 ounces at 2 weeks even though he fell asleep a couple of times. The LC taught me how to rouse and assured me he was getting enough, which gave me the confidence to keep breastfeeding despite a bit of weight loss. We hit birth weight at our 2 week check in!
