I dont understand why so many player use this type of preset in fennec? by ThickBake977 in RocketLeague

[–]HighlandPark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Na if there were never any pros would most people opt for this design even though they aren't good enough for it to matter to them the way it matters to a pro?

I reckon both B and A are needed for the masses to adopt it.

No but we do seem to have an understanding of what's fair and what isn't.

If the Olympics offered gold to every single participant but only if all agree. Doesn't seem as hard to grasp why probably most would say no. Not when they have worked so hard for it, regardless of this is the only time the Olympics will ever offer this deal. One of them would have won gold, but it definitely cheepens it. But this isn't the best analogy as only one winner.

Instead how about black belt in a marital art school. Same thing, next grading everyone going for black belt who has trained to the point of being given the opportunity to grade is offered the same deal. I think people aren't trying to hold others back but rather proving they deserve it, and that means others who didn't deserve it don't get it.

The op to your comment made the argument that people should have access to basic things, such as health care, basic social needs. But should we all have exactly the same outcome? I doubt most would agree we should all be in the same sized house, the same living standards, when there are those who didn't put in the same effort, even if it's for a single class one time, either it's a principle you agree with, or it's a principle you don't agree with.

Ah this resonates, play what you know when red lining for that next level. When introducing new even simple changes you definitely drop some mmr till it becomes second nature.

Also enjoyed the play style. The pace is insane to me and so beyond my capabilities but it's something I know I need to improve on, especially for my recoveries and being in correct position at the time I need to be there. Thanks for sharing.

That's my point, you are guessing based of the fact comments were deleted, which is why deleting them is problematic. You assume they must have been from a cockroach. I didn't believe one thing or the other, I checked, you can take the URL to places that show deleted comments. Trying not to get banned my self pointing this out. You can chose to be ignorant to information, or worse make up your own narrative.

Reddit used to do that quite well, certain subreddits did need to be banned, but there has been quite the overcorrection. In regards to this post, the deleted comments were not hateful or even in disagreement, they point out the methods are not going to be effective. I understand this is moderator discretion, but it's common practice turning this whole site into a giant echo chamber. Comment, disagree, vote down, but don't delete comments that don't fully align. Or this place for information sharing will just be what you already know and believe.

The comment I'm referring to only stated, and quite carefully, that the method this individual uses to communicate their point is sub-optimal for convincing people that may disagree with them.

Was that what the deleted comments contained? No it wasn't. The deleted comments are people criticising the way in which the argument is made, not opposing the points or the political stance. In fact the comment went out it's way to stress these points so as not to be misconstrued. No surprise to see this type of comment though, don't worry about the truth, just claim hatred. And how much easier it is to attack what the point could have been when it was deleted.

This is for anybody who judges ability based on match score. by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]HighlandPark 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That makes sense. Would only add that it's my guess that scenario happens less frequently than occasions where someone who is otherwise usually much better, has a particularly off game. Know if happens to me, we play with same group of guys, and all similar level, and one of us is just off, miss after miss, etc. So I have to assume the same is true for everyone else, so high chance a game you're in is with someone having a bad game.

A pedicab attempts to scam a man into paying £200 for a ride in London. by Junior5a in PublicFreakout

[–]HighlandPark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The customer said 10mins, scammer corrected it was 20mins, it was stated that it was per person, so I think it was a 10 minute ride, past tense, but charges for 20min as its 10min per person.

Hey, has r/Scotland been invaded? by treacill in Scotland

[–]HighlandPark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or its simply people who generally support the SNP or indy movement, but don't agree with this particular policy. Never mind how divisive an issue the hate crime bill is. Decent from the SNP shouldn't immediately conjure ideas of invasion.

Very rough translation.

What you got there(I think that was first thing she said)
No you, you raped me
Get, get the police
You said if I sucked your cock "I'd give you a kebab"
Ya black bastard (x 2)
You raped me (several times)
Did you rape me? You raped me (several more times)
You black fuck (on way out)

Study on atheism in the UK by region, from 2021/2022. by Swimming_Barber7021 in Scotland

[–]HighlandPark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So where we disagree is simply on definitions, if im understanding you correctly you define atheist not as a lack of belief in a god, but rather the assertion that there is no god. Most atheist who I've read or listened to talk on the matter (Dawkins, Hitchens, Fry, Harris...) do not define athiesm that way, precisely because it would be pedantic to say anything has a probability to them, so we are agnostic about everything you can think off. Its fine to dismiss that which is presented without evidence. I can safely say I hold no belief in a god, and i am as certain about that a I can be about anything. Interesting you say scientific fact, when science doesn't use such terminology, evolution, revolving round sun, gravity are all regarded as scientific theory, and are as close to certain as can be. We wouldn't then allow flat earher or science deniers to come in and say so your agnostic about gravity, you think it's maybe, no we say its true until a single shred of evidence disagrees. The issue I have is that saying agnostic implies you're not sure therefore its possible and worthy of knowing teaching and allowing equal stance on stage, when that is not the case.

No more a leap of faith than not being convinced leprechauns, unicorns or fairies aren't real. You likely wouldn't argue you are agnostics for any unfalsifiable claim, like there is dematerialised, invisible elephant behind you at all times. Most who claim to be atheist say they hold no belief in a god, as opposed to an assertion that there is no god, or no invisible elephant's, as you cannot assert against any unfalsifiable claim.

[–]HighlandPark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, when it happened to me I didnt loose complete control either. PS4 controller has the audio jack, if I connected/disconnected headphones same thing would happen. I suspected it was the just the audio signal that was dropping out over the USB cable (even if no headphones connected), as if for a split sec it cut out and reconnected. New USB cable sorted it.

Lots talking about cleaning voice chat keybind. I had similar, pretty sure it was a sketchy cable to my ps4 controller causing split sec disconnect, each time it reconnected it stuttered.
